I feel for my native American brothers, similar atrocities happened in my country also. This is not just about different perspectives on history. The indigenous people of that land still have a treaty that is not being honored by the U.S. Federal government. I am of mixed heritage, and am pro-peace. The only way to get "past" this, is to honor your responsibilities and admit the truth about the horrors reaped upon unarmed women and children. I like Adam Beach, the actor in this and who played "Yazzi" in "Windtalkers." He was also great as the nerdy Indian kid running the fireworks stand in "Joe Dirt." Adam has a great deal of depth, and I would love to see more of the Tony Hillerman books turned into movies with him as the main character (i.e., Lt. Joe Leaphorn of the Navajo Police.) And I hope he gets other roles as well; he has a lot of talent.

Everyone through history has suffered at the hands of another you need not be of one colour, race or creed to feel pain and loss on a large scale. This is not just about different perspectives on history. The indigenous people of that land still have a treaty that is not being honored by the U.S. Federal government. I am of mixed heritage, and am pro-peace. The only way to get "past" this, is to honor your responsibilities and admit the truth about the horrors reaped upon unarmed women and children. I like Adam Beach, the actor in this and who played "Yazzi" in "Windtalkers." He was also great as the nerdy Indian kid running the fireworks stand in "Joe Dirt." Adam has a great deal of depth, and I would love to see more of the Tony Hillerman books turned into movies with him as the main character (i.e., Lt. Joe Leaphorn of the Navajo Police.) Everyone through history has suffered at the hands of another you need not be of one colour, race or creed to feel pain and loss on a large scale. My roots are Romany Gypsy in parts of eastern Europe gypsies are still beaten wrongfully arressted and murdered.. why?.. because they are Gypsies. It is easy to hate and hard to forgive but not all that have taken part in these crimes wanted to be there nor do what was done. The only way to move forward is to forgive.

They were never treated as humans, such was how anyone with color was treated by whites.

This video really brought tears to my eyes. Haven't seen the movie, but hope to. Wounded Knee was a shameful event in history (one of many), and makes me ashamed to be white. Native American culture is beautiful, and should be respected. I just read the book...my God, how...could we have done those things. Did the Europeans not just recently finish the 'Age of Enlightenment'? What 'Enlightenment' was there in the colonization of America? It started with a simple desire to be free of a monarchy...and ended up being a dictatorship that oppressed and slaughtered the indigenous people herein. How fast and far we fell...what 'Providence' where there in this? NONE. I am embarrassed and ashamed to call myself an American.

I have Irish and Indian blood in me and I believe the Natives were done wrong. I cry each time I hear or study the Trail of Tears. To think I had ancestors on both sides of the battle is a shame. Please be respectful of the Natives they were here first and I know they deserve all Respect!!!!
