  • I have a quaker parrot and i want to get him a friend :)

What type of bird species gets along with quakers?

I'm hoping to avoid angry bird fights

  • quaker to lovebird: " I keep on telling' you ya can't go out with those tail feathers

all over the place! Jeez, ok, here, let me show you proper birdie decorum...."

  • "I can't be bothered with doing this myself"

  • So cute! XD

  • cute

  • Impresionante! los agapornis no suelen llevarse bien con las demás especies, y menos con una cotorra argentina, que también tienen su carácter! xD pero como todo hay excepciones. Felicidades por los dos, son adorables.

  • ほほえましい

  • It looks like the Lovebird is presenting sexually to the Quaker...

  • Wow my parrot is some different, he bites my lovebird

  • The lovebird thinks the Quaker wants to mate. :P

  • ♥....

  • @0223Brooke

Indeed.... Looks to me the lovebird is a female; the same behaviour can be seen with female budgies except their eyes become small and they lift their heads a little more.

But the lovebird is just one horny girl.

  • This is a great pairing I keep my budgie/parakeet with my cockatiel and they love each other. The parakeet preens the cockatiel :)

  • This is so funny, cool video

  • @tareed44 just because it works for some birds doesnt mean its appropriate for all. in GENERAL, different species should be caged seperately, especially with different sized birds to prevent injury to the smaller, more vulnerable one. All birds have different personalities, but it is not safe advice to say "ya, hey, put your birds in the same cage! not knowing anything about the birds temperment". its not "knowing everything, its common sense. lol

  • Sweet video! I see that your birds have bonded very well. Are they still tame with you or they prefer to be with each other?

  • lol i use to have a quaker parrot it was my brothers but the bird flew away.i miss her.her name was jerry.

  • Lovebird: ohgod ohgod ohgod ohgod ohgod ohgod ohgod

  • awwww so cute!

  • ooooo bird porn jk those two r well with each other my birds hate each other:(

  • Are they potty trained? My mom would never allow my Quaker to do that! This video is adorable!♥

  • I decided to buy two quaker parrots right now :D

  • I have died. This is the cutest thing ever.

  • amazing!

  • Do they poop a lot? I bet the poop a lot.. My mom rescue a baby duck and that thing was a pooping machine.

  • She's offerin, but he's clueless. Ha!

  • I gave myself a sore throat from "squeeeing"...

  • they are fucking adorable cutti

  • Hey is your female lovie sweet or very temperamental? I here girls are a bit more bitey...

  • doesn't ur lovebird talk?

  • 0:15 Do my wing! lol, so cute! =D

  • i could tell that was a female lovebird right away, her tail feathers are up!!!!! she is sexually aroused. Duh!!!!

  • haha my parakeet preens my senegal. the funny thing is my other parakeet gets jealous

  • does he ever gut all up in that peachfaced poontang ??

  • @bitcheznhos

    Wowww...

  • rofl, the lovebird is expecting some luv XD

  • This is just too beautiful.

  • Very Funny

  • My QP, Pablo does that to my hair

  • it's very nice

  • That's I call petting.

  • My question which I'm sure has been asked many times already, does the quaker try and mate with the lovebird ? People that don't have any experience with parrots do not realize that they have sexual needs ,and if they are not met, they either find an object they can rub back and forth on to masterbate,or do it with their mate. Will two birds of diff. species that are bonded so well like yours try and mate?I'd really like to know if it's possible to artificially inseminate a Examp:Cockatoo & McCaw ?

  • People here need to realize that birds of different species are very unlikely to be friends like this......this is NOT the norm! and you can't expect a friendship to happen, just because you see someone else's birds getting along! It IS amazing though and sweet and adorable! I also have a peachface lovebird who is great friends with my blueheaded pionus! Lovebirds are very social and I think sometimes will try to make friends with any other animal! Ours even liked the dog!

  • Rape

  • Soooo cute, i wish my lovebirds and quakers are like these two =)

  • I love the orange on the love bird!

  • Cute!

I have two males: Charllie's my adopoted Canary-Wing 'keet and Jasper's a younger Pineapple GCC.

They have become buddies but Charlie won't let Jasper preen him. I think he thinks it's gay.

You can see them in a couple of the vids on my channel.

  • hi,

i have a cockatoo pet. i want to have another pet bird. i want to have a peach face love bird. but someone told me that lovebirds are very jealous by nature and can not tolerate any other pet bird. So i dropped the idea. but after watching this video where a lovebird is getting along well with a Quaker, i am again thinking of getting a peach face lovebird. please tell me if he/she will be nice with my cockatoo or not?

  • @AaBeautifulTruth - Might be too great of a size difference. The Quaker and Lovebird are about as far apart as you could expect 'em to interact. The lovebird might accidentally get hurt, too; they're braver than they should be!

One never knows, but I'd get something a bit closer in size to the 'too, like maybe a Meyers or a Moustache parakeet.

  • @AaBeautifulTruth well! i hope lovebirds arent jealous my sister just got one a few days ago, and i've hat my cockatiel for about 2 to 3 months now, she doesnt like the lovebird but somehow i think they are jealous, the day we brought it home we had pizza for dinner and i share my pizza with my cockatiel and it watched me the whole time, *pout*

  • hey. i have a male quaker parrot and i want to get a female so i can have chicks. but he is territorial to his cage towards me. do you think he would be mean to a new bird? and how would i introduce them?

  • haha thats cute xD

  • err just so you know , your lovebird looks to be a female , I do breed them here and that one is definately acting like a hen.

  • That's sweet! :)

  • Is your quaker parrot more aggressive towards you bc it has a companion or friend rather? I know quaker parrot plus quaker parrot isn't good. one day I want to get another bird but i don't want my quaker parrot to change bc i get another bird.

  • Iv got a quarker she bites me but i didnt do anything 2 her

  • That lovebird wants sex

  • The lovebird seems to want something else. Hahaha!

  • Quakers are amazing, if you ever have a chance to observe them in their natural habitat I strongly suggest you do! it's incredible team work! Everybody contributes, older feed the young, everybody helps building the nest, it's like communism, that actually works!

I remember I brought my 4yr old quaker (who was extremely selfish) a baby bird, and he instinctively started feeding it without any signs of aggression! he just accepted him as if it was his own

  • oh my theyre beautiful!

i have a quaker, hes so lovely :)

  • That's so beautiful.

  • wht is preening is ?

  • How long do they live for? Are they very noisy? I have to budgies, and the male is extremely noisy. Today he has been quiet.

  • Hi. You post great videos. What gender are the quaker and lovebird? Did you get both at same time? Did they grow up together? If not, which was first, and how old when they met/shared you? :) We have an awesome quaker who is two 2.5 (our 21 year old quaker girl passed away) and his "little brother" a 13 yr old parrotlet. Considering another birdie that's a younger pal for quaker. Thanks.

  • @siriusarts99 hello

the quaker is a male and lovebird female. i got the quaker a couple years before the lovebird. the quaker is 6 and loveird 4. good luck!

  • that love bird is gorgeous! lol

  • Lol, your lovebird looks like mine when she's getting ready to do the naughty birdy dance with her mate. Except my lovie gets closer to the perch and fluffs up a whole lot more.

  • that is one happy lovebird

  • Quakers are neat. I adopted a black-capped conure this winter and some day I would like to get a Quaker. For those of you thinking of getting an exotic parrot of some kind: DO YOUR RESEARCH. Exotic birds require patience, lots of dedication, lots of attention and play time OUT OF THE CAGE and here's the big one: NUTRITION. I advise meeting with an Avian Specialist to determine if an exotic bird is right for you.

  • at the begining the orange one is like:" bitch clean me now!!!"

  • its very sweet that they can be together no matter their difference on the species...

    very cute...

    lovely...

  • quaker parrots can get along with love birds because i have a quaker and i was deciding to get a lovebird!

  • hey, i have a question i just recantly got a budgie parakeet and hes pretty used to me. my grandmother is going to give me her quaker parrot, its red and green, she also says the quaker is quite mean, anyway do you think a quaker and a budgie parakeet can get along in the same cage or should i get 2 cageS?

  • um okay, well quaker parrots are not red and green, so its probably a different species. First, find out what type of bird it is, second, there is no way two birds that are different species can live in the same cage (a budgie and a "quaker"). you would need to get a different cage

  • @ilgaaf212

Actually 2 different species of birds CAN live in the same cage as long as they're used to each other and don't fight much because for a suprise my mom bought me a cage full of 2 cockatiels and 2 parakeets and they all get along just fine.

  • @stanglory im not neccesarly an expert buy i'd advise u 2 get 2 cages just in case u can have help letting them get used to each other.

  • Which one is male and which is female?

  • he needs another bird who is like himself are you stupid!?

  • @lonela1 No one agrees with you, so be quiet.

  • he needs another bird, who is like himself;

    are you stupid!?

  • he needs another bird like himself...are you stupid!?

  • I LOVE YOUR BIRDS

  • ahah, i wish my boyfriend did that to me istead of me always having to remind him to shower xDDD

lovely lil birdies you got there

  • Wow that quaker really loves to preen!

  • Awe, what a sweetheart that quacker is

  • Well... ur lovebirl is a female lol. Shes waiting for the quaker to mount her lol

  • THE QUAKER HAS A GIRL FREIND!!!!!!!

  • Very nice pair ani idea about the gender of the Parrot ? looks like the lovebird is an female :)

  • aww!!! i have a quaker parrot too... he's so kute and funny!! ^_^ but he cant talk lol

  • sooo sweet. my lovebird dont like when I touch him, he bites me haha

  • Very cute! My lovebird was glued to this, and she usually doesn't respond to any of the bird videos; she even looked behind the laptop to see if the birds were there!

  • the love bird is like "damn tis feels soooo good"

  • My quaker doesn't get along with my Green cheek conure & maroon bellied conure. I am going to get a lovebird.. maybe he will get along with him.

How old are you birds and what age did you start putting them togetheR?

  • @SilkeyLeaves

I would very closely supervise any interaction between different sized parrots. It could be hazardous and regardless of breed they may not get along no matter what, so do not get your hopes up :)

  • poor lovie, every video she is just doing her mating stance and the quaker doesn't get it :(

do u know if the quaker is a boy or girl?

  • looks like she's in the mating stance.

  • @countrybwoy420 Interracial love

  • Can I ask you a question?? Dont you have to have 2 love birs together because they get bored and very lonley?? or can it be with another bird???

  • I don't know that I quite understand your question. But yes two love birds can go together, even live in the same cage. Two different species can also play together, but must live in separate cages. When a parrot has another companion (such as two lovebirds living together), it does help keep them occupied and entertained.

  • @ilgaaf212 y do 2 different species have to live in different cages ?????

  • @DaWorldLoves because most of the times they really dont get along (sorry for butting in) Like for example my Quaker parrot Pauly lived in his cage and my mom bought a budgie and put it in the same cage and after like a year or some months he had beaten her and she suffered from so much pain she died :'(

  • @MissPfmw12

Also, you must have lots of toys, and interaction with the parrot, and you must regardless have them be checked by a vet at least once a year. a variety of toys and interaction with you will keep them from being bored.

Two living together will have them less bonded towards you.

  • @xokisskiss123 um My mother said that we cant take our quaker parrot to the vet because she thinks we have to waste alot of money but is that true?

  • @MissPfmw12 THAT IS A MYTH.

  • @MissPfmw12 single lovebirds can be kept as happy pets as long as you give them enough attention. They will bond more to the person than to a bird in this case. You do not HAVE to have 2 lovebirds together. A lot of people think this is the only way to have a lovebird but it's not true. Proper foraging, toys, attention and training make for a wonderful single lovebird :)

  • that looks so adorable! Such sweethearts.

  • too cute

  • painfully cute!

  • I think if the 2 ever do mate the quaker will crush the lovebird LOL!

  • i have a quaker to ^_^ shes a girl, she started to lay eggs. SHE EATS THEM! if u ever get a boy quaker, and it gets...u no... fertilized, will she eat it? She has phycological problems :P

  • she probably eating it b/c she needs calcium or protien. I would giv her a cuttlebone and hard bolied eggs crushed w/ shell and all. Remember to make an egg it realy does take alot out of u.

  • wow thats so cool i wonder can they breed?

  • they aren't the same species or even genus so not likely

  • I think your love bird would like something more than preening...

  • 17-19!!! did he give the love bird a few kisses ? :D 2 CUTE!

  • lol the quaker is preening the lovebird, but the lovebird thinks that it wants to mate with it, thats why the tail and wings are up like that xD

  • I got the same impression... The lil' girl seems to be mentally "out there" already ;)

  • OMG!! How Cute!!I have INR and a lovebird, I wish my INR would be more affectionate towards a lovebird..he likes to keep his distance!

  • they sure are a cute pair ^^

  • I learned that there is a special gland located in the parrot's rump that releases an oily substance that is used for preening feathers. This stuff makes their feathers sleek and shiny.

  • NO FAIR. my love bird hates other birds he KILLED a parrket once.

  • He's probably preening her instead of that "other thing" because he doesn't understand what it means. XD

  • Haha how cuute...

  • i think they're cute. they love eachother no matter what. the species barrier doesnt phase them. two quakers= baby quakers, which is unwanted... they seem pretty happy to me and enjoy spending time together

  • How can anyone not find this video absolutely adorable? To say that quakers should only love quakers is like saying one race of people should only love their own kind!

  • Cuti3PandaX (2 months ago)

it just looks like the quaker parrot is perverted becuz its making out with a smaller bird

It seems you don't know anything about bird--_--

    they are only cleaning themself.

  • I agree with the thought, equality is awesome, but, there is also reality, i mean, could a great dane and a chiwawa hook up? Could a finch and an eagle hook up?

Quakers and other parakeets, fine, happy parrothood. Quakers and peaches, nah.

  • They're different SPECIES not different RACES.

Quakers loving a Lovebird is like a human loving a gorilla.

  • so. its not a love relationship. do u see any mating? its like the relationship between a human and his dog. best friends. and whats with u and gorillas? gorillas are nasty creatures....

  • They are peaceful animals you idiot.

  • You just proved that a rock is smarter than you..

In a previous comment you said "gorillas are nasty creatures...." and i said THAT THEY ARE FUCKING PEACEFUL got it now?

So before you talk again clear the shit out of your head bb..

  • i thought you were talking about the parrots because 1st of all I WASNT TALKING TO YOU dipshit... and no... gorillas are not peaceful.. they fight each other for females and eat their own shit.... FYI: rocks cant type.... asshole

  • Hahahah you are truly a retard it's in their nature to fight for females like every other animal and guess what it's in our nature too, but they won't attack you..

  • im not getting into a fight about dumb gorillas because i dont care. FYI: humans dont eat shit. and if you get to close to a male gorilla he will flippen tare you limb from limb... how peaceful.

  • @Cuti3PandaX no its like sayin chinese ppl should love other chinese ppl thats wat ur sayin but usin it in bird form so thats not cute but this vid is -_-''

  • The way your love bird is arching her tail up means she is a girl. And she is in the mood for, um, 'special cuddles'. Your Quaker is being a gentlemen I guess, preening her the way he is, she isn't the right species for him, but it seems that he wants her to look good!

  • This is so sweet. My Quaker HATES all the other birds in my house. In fact, no one goes near each other at all. My parakeet loves them all but I keep him away from them as they have attached him in the past (or I should say the Quaker has).

  • yes im the first to watch and comment....he preens pretty hard, same way my quaker would to the lovebird, however both the love birds in the bath video are dead, one from a dog and one from dog stress..there is now the quaker and a new yellow conure which we're trying to get along..

  • tigerskob - sorry about your loss.
