I just pulled my Wildside tape out and started to play it again after all these years! Thanks for sparking the memories. I used to cruise around in my 76 Nova and crank this!
Not long back I posted this video to my Facebook page with the caption "I am jealous of anyone hearing this song for the first time", because I was so blown away by it in the same way the first time I saw this on MTV when I was 15 back in '92. About 30 friends commented back to my post with "Holy Cow! Who is this band?!,!" and similar comments. Keep in mind, these were people who I know who aren't particularly into metal and were giving such reactions 20 years after the fact. Some of them were
This band was so freaking good. I mean look at this video! they had everything - the look, the moves, the skills, the musicianship, the showmanship ... Man, it speaks for itself! Should have been household names. If Motley had cranked this song or album out, it would've gone like triple platinum. Just bad timing and stupid corporate BS swooping in and screwing them over. This is a real rock band. It's really sad how things changed in the early 90's. Can't say enough about this group.
i have this album and it fucking rocks, cant believe these guys got the short end of the stick.this band was really awesome and original, love these guys!!
Still, to this day, in my Top 3 bands of ALL TIME. Kind of hard to believe, making only 3 albums (1 classic as fuck, 1 nearing grunge and 1 of demos)......but that's how GOOD these guys were. What a shame, could have been HUGE if the timing (and egos) hadn't have gotten in the way. Thanks for posting Drew, you/yall were badasses and still leave a legacy that not many can follow, but will be forever stitched in the hearts and minds of people who grew up with the best genre ever !!!! Thanks. \../
Drew, you were probably the hardest voice to cover back in the day. Under The Influence is one of the few albums I can listen to all the way through without fast forwarding...awesome! How Many Lies is still addictive.
Holy crap Drew.....not sure if you remember my sister Heather from Milwaukee, but I met you a few times....do you have a copy of Crash Diet? Live or recorded? Was always one of my faves to see you guys perform.
Drew, since you were in the band, what really happened. Was it one band or a bunch of suits, that decided to uproot the whole 80's era of rock n roll?? and just now 20 yrs later we are starting to see some of that style of music come back, but it aint like it was. Just wandering what your thoughts were. I think you guys should've been around alot longer!!!!!!!
I've loved this song (and damn near everything this band released) for almost 20 years. They kinda sounded like a mix between Guns n Roses and Slaughter, only with a much darker attitude.
Damn I been a Big 80's early 90's Music Buff,Before the Cobain Pussy came along and Fucked everything up with his Flanel Shirts and BarChords.Alternative music was such a JOKE! This ROCKS,and these Guys Kick Ass,Never Heard of them until Now.Completely Kick Ass.
Great song, great release! Under The Influence is solid from start to finish. Never got to see them live. Anyone know if they played in N. California much and if so what venues/clubs?
Kick Ass group back in the day.. I saw them a couple times in KC.. Played that first CD so much I wore it out and had to get another.. This whole Album was killer.. These guys just came on the scene a little too late otherwise they would have been alot bigger.
@2fastforlove totally agree, i still have both cassettes, and they are pretty worn out. I didnt know they came to kansas city. bummer i would've went. were did they play?
Seeing you guys was the second show I went to. I was 18. You were the first band I met and were real down to earth . I still talk about it to this day with a friend of mine. I got out of a abusive relationship at the time in my life.Your music got me through some stuff so it was a honor to meet ya. Well thanks for putting this up!
its a crime these guys didnt get the lime light they deserve,if this ablum was out now it would be on every hard rock chart,at #1,lets face facts the hard rock scene pretty much sucks with a few exceptions, wish u guys could get back together and do a ozz fest or somthing that would be cool.such cool tunes........
Timing is everything and how many times did I wish these guys hit the scene a couple years earlier. One of the more polished sounds of the late 80's even though it was early 90's.
Good video Drew.. I wish you guys would put out a DVD with these videos and some live clips from that first album era out.. that whole album is truly amazing..
Wildside made some great music, wish I could find a decent copy of Six Feet Underground. That was one great song that they played toward their end. Anyone have it?
Awesome music Drewwild1. i really wish this type of music was more popular. Like back in the good old days. I was 22 when this video was shot
Most of today's music is crap, with very few exceptions I'll take a Wildside video over a Rihanna or Beyonce video any day I mention those two in particular because they sure are played a lot on VH1
Their original band name was Young Guns. They had to change it due to copyright infringements. (the movie young guns) They played the Spice Club in Hollywood in 91' I think it was. I was a bouncer there and man were they pissed when we made them wait in the restaurant, while we emptied out the club for some Jewish shing ding. "Hey man, we're in the band". That's all I heard from them for 30 minutes. They drove me crazy, and they were full of themselves. Party didn't last long, thanks to Nirvana
dude, finding that video just made my day.. i jammed this band relentlessly during my h.s. days! love the Wasted Years disk, too. great freaking band. Here's hoping for a Wildside reunion.
I'm glad I got to see these guys up close and personnal. T.A. VERNS- Hwy 100 & Silver Spring- -Milwaukee, Wi. Great bunch of guys. Hung out after the show and I got to have some drinks w/ them and shoot a liitle pool. The best of times!
I always loved the acoustic guitar on this one. Has a real bluesy feel to it. This band I think could play pretty much any style they wanted. Such a shame it had to end.
yea , This band is awesome. They would have been as big as the rest of the bands at the time. F...... grunge ruined it. It's cool to find this , that people remember . They should of been huge. Just think of the music we missed out on because they stopped before they even got started.

How very cool in the Is the "How many Lies" video. I dig it, and I was at Rafters- in Murray, Utah the night Wildside recorded it. Talk about memories !!! Loved that bar and Wildside is still heavily played at my house.
OMG!!!!! Today is like the best day ever. I have been searching for this since the 90's, took for granted it wouldn't go anywhere, never caught the bands name. I loved this song as well as Hang On Lucy, my radio station played them constantly then all of a sudden it was gone. I called asking the name of band, nobody knew. Put a post on a forum, someone finally answered. I LOVE IT!!!!! Where can I get the album. I need it!!!!!!!
I am with you all that way. Capitol, like so many other big labels are still trying to figure out what the next best thing is...even it's it's right under their nose. Thanks for the nice words.
Drew, Why wasn't Monkey See Monkey Do released as a single? Was it due to the fact that Capitol records was getting ready to bend you guys over and break one off?
It's such an absolute shame that bands like yours never achieved the success that poser bands like Poison along with many others did.
The fact that it was grunge that overtook this kind of music is treason.
Wildside's stuff was earcandy, Cobain's and all the grungers is like fingernails on a chalkboard.
LIVE THESE GUYS WERE AWESOME... Drew is a hell of a showman. I saw them like 3 times in Utah and I think they may have been there more than that... it was the only time I was happy to live in Utah. OMG and Benny.. good god how cute was he...
Well what we should all do is demand that they all have to get back together!!(LOL)If Airbourne can do it they can!Supposedly the lead singer is into producing porn(which I am definitely not into). The guy has got a voice like that and he is'nt using it(that's criminal). He's wasting his talent in the adult business(then again that is only what I heard). It is so awesome cause I thought I was the only one that new about this kick ass band(minus that 2nd album!!!)This was kinda like appetite for 92
Wildside had more talent in their left nut than probably any band on the L.A. Scene. It's too bad they didn't have more success than they did. They had a pounding rhythm section, great vocals by Drew (which in my opinion was a great mix of Axl Rose and Sebastian Bach) and great dualing guitars.
I still pop on this cd when I'm driving, and my troubles seem to melt away. I hear the double kick in the first second of So Far Away, and man I get pumped. I could listen to it for hours.
again anothr great band out of 90's i used to live thnx 4 postin this!! been lookin 4ever. sad thing is the singer does kinda sound like stephen percy of ratt.
This song is so damn addictive!! It's a shame that it came out around the time the nonsence known as "grunge" reared its ugly head. There are so many bands who've released brilliant albums around this time and have failed to make an impact due to this.
If so Your shit Rocks i wish i would have seen you LIVE on Under The Influnce that fucking CD is one of the Greatest CDs of the 80's Early 90's Sound that shit hits in 85 YOUR 1 or 2 on Billboard Keep up the Great Work Love You Guys . Friends u Have in Colorado
Oh my god......what a treat to the eyes & ears!! Thanks for posting Drew! This song as well as the entire Under The Influence cd is to this day still one of my favorites. Heck, I play it 4 or 5 times a week. Yeah!! Hope to see & hear more from you in the future. Thanks....Rock on....Wildside in Montana....Out
Hey Drew its nice to see some Wildside vids on here. I meet ya'll back in 92 or 93 in Austin Texas. What a show. I believe I made it in ya'lls photo album of certain pics ya'll were taking on the road. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. If you got more vids you should post for all of us Wildside fans. Have a good one.
I love Wildside's music! By the lyrics I'd say some woman definitly burned him bad at some time or another! Every song on the entire cd is a woman hating song of some kind.
well not every song but I could see why you'd form that opinion. Lets just say it's easier to write about personal experiences rather than fantasy. Being young and horny in those days...we ran into alot of female train wrecks.
LOL! I'll bet you did! Being from Iowa,I'd never heard of Wild Side until I took a road trip to Denver CO. with some friends in 1991 or 92. Denver had a much better rock station than we did in Iowa. I heard wild Side on the radio there and LOVED the music. I bought a CD while there to take home so my rocker Iowa pals could listen. Been a fan ever since, and still have the CD!!
Really? I was thinking that as I was at the concert, but that place is small and the video makes it looks big. Anyway, it was a killer concert! Wildside Rocks!
Would be great to see more songs posted, like 'The Clock Strikes 12' or 'A lad in sin'
I remember that club too. Wasn't it called the 'Powerhouse' or something like that? I saw some cool shows there. (Wildside, David Lee Roth, Motley Crue and more)
The PowerPlant? Only been there 50 dam times, went to the grand opening Don Dokken party it was a nice place just an odd stage for concerts. Christ I Can't even remember the joint they got together and hit just a few years ago when they released The Wasted Years.
Thanks for posting this! Good album. I saw them at the Whiskey in Hollywood in '91. Still have a pick from Benny. For clarification though, this is not live audio, just live video. The track is from the album. Heh, at the show at the Whiskey the singer was hitting on a doob at the side of the stage. He seemed relaxed, go figure.
F'n cool.. I never got to see you during the Under the Influence days, but saw you in a club in Kansas City after Brent was no longer in the band and I think you had a different drummer. Bassist was the same.. You guys had put out the album with the lizard or geko on it. Can't remember the name of it though.. I think it had songs like Life in the Grid and Full. Anyway, way under rated band.. Under The Influence was one of the best albums ever..
right on drewwild1, you guys were the shit. i have many fond memories of you guys. i wore your c.d. out bro. what are you doing now? i need to get your c.d. also. right on drew, good to hear you are still around bro. peace..
I love this band, I got the Wasted Years album and Under the Influence ..They deserve to be to way bigger..They are better than lots of hairy bands from the 80s
I heard Drew Hanna the lead singer of this band got a porno company or something like this!!!
Coolness. Somebody had it posted on YouTube awhile ago, but they deleted it. People have been asking me where they can get it. Cheers for posting it, Drew.
still awesome

I still pop on this cd when I'm driving, and my troubles seem to melt away. I hear the double kick in the first second of So Far Away, and man I get pumped. I could listen to it for hours.

This song is so damn addictive!! It's a shame that it came out around the time the nonsence known as "grunge" reared its ugly head. There are so many bands who've released brilliant albums around this time and have failed to make an impact due to this.

I left their album on all night.. it woke me up when my scorpion was bangin on his cage.

I am working on getting some other stuff on youtube. Stay tuned!

I love Wildside's music! By the lyrics I'd say some woman definitly burned him bad at some time or another! Every song on the entire cd is a woman hating song of some kind.
WastedRR 4 years ago
well not every song but I could see why you'd form that opinion. Lets just say it's easier to write about personal experiences rather than fantasy. Being young and horny in those days...we ran into alot of female train wrecks.
Drewwild1 4 years ago
Been a fan ever since, and still have the CD!!

you're damn right though i wonder what the intentions of bands like cannibal corpse were back then ^^

Where in SLC was this filmed, trying to recognize something to place it.
i was at every show.
This was my favorite band at the time.
Every song on this album was a single in my opinion. Killer!!!

Rafters
Drewwild1 4 years ago
Really? I was thinking that as I was at the concert, but that place is small and the video makes it looks big. Anyway, it was a killer concert! Wildside Rocks!
Would be great to see more songs posted, like 'The Clock Strikes 12' or 'A lad in sin'
Actually, every song! :o)

After bar hopping around town I ended up there by complete accident, great stuff, "release the dam DVD already!"
What was the name of that other club they played at behind the soon to be destroyed Cottonwood Mall?
UtahRatt 4 years ago
yeah, release the DVD!
I remember that club too. Wasn't it called the 'Powerhouse' or something like that? I saw some cool shows there. (Wildside, David Lee Roth, Motley Crue and more)
madsin69 4 years ago
The PowerPlant? Only been there 50 dam times, went to the grand opening Don Dokken party it was a nice place just an odd stage for concerts. Christ I Can't even remember the joint they got together and hit just a few years ago when they released The Wasted Years.
lol, The Wasted Years....Thats no shit!
UtahRatt 4 years ago
yeah, the Powerpant! I think thats it!
yeah, ur right, the stage was in a strange placement.
Just saw Dokken in Prague, Czech Republic a few months ago. I posted a clip that I took there. Check out 'its not love' in my videos.
Wasted years :o) LOL!
Very cool.
madsin69 4 years ago
ya the Powerplant had an identity crisis, a dance club with a dance stage that brought in rock gigs, go figure.
Nice clip of Don, and in Prague? I'm jealous, hope it was warmer then it is here.
UtahRatt 4 years ago
Yeah, in Prague at the moment. very warm. Broke all the temp records! it was over 20C (50F)!
No snow, ski resorts are crying. Madness.
But, i like the sun, so it suits me fine at this time :o)

They should have came out in the 80s more they would probably be bigger than they were

He seemed relaxed, go figure.
kusheba 4 years ago
Oops. perhaps it was 1992? Crap I forget. Still, great show at the Whiskey.

Too bad bands don't make music like this anymore....the best of all time.
SoonerRyche 4 years ago 2
That guitar solo is bad ass - slide then right into a screaming vibrato!!! It doesn't get any better than this.
JacksonSolistXXX 4 years ago
Keep Rokken..
