  • How can a person don't know who Garou is?! He's a great singer, known worldwide... And I'm not even French...

  • Whoever plays or has played Quasimodo has some major balls. It must be so tiring, and depressing to play him. I bet it takes a lot of energy out of you especially if you do 8 shows a week but he's still a great character to play. Mad props to anyone who's ever played him. I salute you Garou.

  • Dieu que belle chanson .... <3

  • Not Jacques Bres but Jacques Brel ;)

  • this always makes me think of Jaques Bres and his song - ne me quitte pas. I think he is the only one who could have made the best quasimodo in history.

  • This song always makes me cry. Always. Because Quasimodo is right.

  • Fantastic

  • You should all listen to "Danse mon Esmeralda" ... This song when Quasimodo went to Esmeralda in her tomb, hugged her and died besides her from hunger :'( :'( sooo touching :(

  • "Comment pourrais-tu m'aimer?.." Gosh, I wanna hug Quasi so badly! I'm crying my eyes out, and it's all because Garou is just an absolutely amazing actor and singer. He lives in the role. I never saw anything like that in my entire life...

  • it made me cry. and i'm still crying.

  • esta obra es una absoluta belleza

  • Realmente FANTASTICO!!!!!!

Eles seguramente interpretam com a ALMA.

    Estao de Parabens!

  • wow! how could you not like this song unless you are heartless lol :p

  • my favourite song in the musical

  • awesome

  • God this world is unfair. Never such a shocking truth have been so well sing.

  • God that the world is not fair. Never such a shocking truth have been so well sing.

  • the real title of this song is "Dieu que le monde est injuste" => God this world is unfair.

  • OMG im crying!

  • I'd take Quasi over Phoebus any day.

  • I'll love you, Quasi!! Such a sweetie (:

  • I dont know why, but I feel a really big "guilt" when I listen to this song.

  • I can never forget his voice. It's so masculine, powerful and emotional. Absolutely love it!

  • Why is this song so true?

  • THE BEAUTIFUL

  • Truly he saddest song I've heard...

  • @Maripooh13 You should listen to "Danse Mon Esmeralda" ... The last song, when she died and Quasimodo went to her tomb, hugged her and died beside her from hunger :'(

  • @bichoy01 I've listened to it and posted on the video: I was wrong about "Dieu que le monde est injuste". THIS is the saddest song I,ve ever heard! :P

  • Yaaa, now I know you are on the right track :D :D :D

  • Bello mi Garou!!! Te t'adore!!!!

  • I'm speechless!!!!! What a voice !!

  • this has the wrong title

  • I am tearing up...this is just beatiful. The lyrics, the acting, the voice...

  • lol oj...the person below me said the same thing :) DIdn't notice..

  • Totally beautiful...je t'aime Garou!

But this is not Vivre- that is sung by Esmeralda. This is Dieu que le monde est injuste...

  • isnt "vivre" the title of one of esmeralda's songs? im pretty sure this one is called "dieu que le monde est injuste"

  • All of Quasi's songs make me want to cry. I think it's Garou's voice, it fits the pain of the character. ;__;

  • So sad... :((

  • <3<3<3<3

  • in an unfair world, what can you do to make her love you :'(

    excellent voice and song

  • Made me cry, very.........beautifull, i am very glad to see such much talent not going to waste on something modern.

Keep doing such acts of human feelings, humanity is lacking them lately

"God, this world is unfair" or "God of this world is unfair"?

  • @Wiedzminka1990 god, how this world is unfair

  • he´s cute :)

    LOVE him

  • the reason the world is unfair is because of the five people who clicked the "dislike" button :(

  • poor Quasimodo...:S

  • sorry but i have a question, this song, maybe, is called "dieu que le monde est injuste"? because vivre is sung by esmeralda? or it's just that i get it wrong?

  • @celiawelkin You're right ;)

This song called "Dieu que le monde est injuste" and is Quasimodo's song.

The next song is "Vivre" by Esméralda.

  • poor quasi, he truleys love Esmeralda, but the other two love her for her dancing

  • Quaaasssiiiii!!! *jumps through screen and huggles him* You are not a lout nor are you a monster!!

  • Oh Quasimodo! You are not a lout.

  • i dunno what hugo had originally in mind, but in this adaptation quasimodo actually is more handsome than phoebus!

  • I just bawled. This is brilliant.

  • It is a compliment to him to sound that position. I'm a singer and trust me it is extremely difficult to sing well when you're hunched over like that.

  • It is a compliment to him to sound that position. I'm a singer and trust me it is extremely difficult to sing well when you're hunched over like that.

  • @selahshamira oh sooooooooooo true!!!!!!! i sing as well and i know how hard it is...

  • There's a subtle difference between "God you made the world all wrong" and "God this world is unfair"

The latter doesn't put any blame on God and I like it... this is a lament, not a complaint!

  • I love this song, but it's called "Dieu que le Monde est Injuste". I hope none get confused

  • Absolutely gorgeous....this song is so deep and really ....I like it..this song is so...oh my god...Congrutalions all the characters....BRAVOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

HUG! *_*

  • i lovw garou haha :)

  • I have watched this musical several times, the first time I saw it, this song made me cry

  • This song is soo beautiful. The whole story is truly a magnificanet tragity. I have always thought so. This song tells so much truth, but then again it's quite a grim one that many don't wish to think about or overlook. After this song i always want to go over and hug quasimodo and tell him he's a beautiful creature at heart...:')

  • Vraiment émouvant *_*

  • amazing story really ,,,,, Victor hugo was amazing he surpassed racine and corneille in real tragedy... it is the ugly but loving against the evil but powerful against the handsome but unfaithful .... Esmeralda is young and innocent she goes for the last she pay the price of her innocence.... the right way to do it was to go with the priest to avoid his evil and betray him with the pretty soldier and than take advantage as much as she can from quasimodo without giving him anything in return

  • This song helped me thourgh a hard time in life, I think many can related to poor Quasi. Somtimes your just born into conditions that keep you from reaching high enough to get what you want or need, you migth figth for life while having nothing, then right along comes someon born into a world where they have everything and get what you love, simple course they can...

He's right the world is cruel at times.

    très fort!!!!

  • Poor Quasi :(

    He's so sweet.

But sadly this is a common story. sigh.

  • this isn't vivre. the song title is ''Dieu que le monde est injuste''

  • I wouldn't refuse to love you <3 quasi

  • Dieu que la vie est cruelle....

  • i just looooooooooooove quasimodo, he's so sweet... i can't believe she's in love with Phoebus, he's such an idiot!

  • The song title is wrong. The true title is "Dieu Que Le Monde Est Injuste"

  • Someone get me my Kleenex! *Sniffle* I think this is the second time I cried, watching this!

  • *gives her box of tissues* Here. *pats*

  • Ok guys, question! I heart via Facebook last fall that Notre Dame, with Garou and Patrick Fiori and Daniel Lavoie and Helene Segara, all of them, is coming back to Paris this fall. Is that true? Have any of you heard about this??

  • Where have I been for the past 11 years. I am just beginning to learn of the genius of Composer Ricardo Cocciante and Lyricist Luc Plamondon. Notre Dame de Paris is a French-Canadian musical which debuted on 16 September 1998 in Paris. It is based upon the novel Notre Dame de Paris by the French novelist Victor Hugo. So many of the songs drive me to tears. Queensgod I'm so grateful to you for the translations you present with your videos from this spectacular masterpiece.

  • this was sooooo sad, i almost cried watching it

  • i did cry

  • The entire play is wonderful.

I recomend it to anyone who enjoyed this.

You can get it from Netflix. It is called "Notre Dame de Paris"

Also this song is called "Dieu Que Le Monde Est Injuste"

which translate to "G-d this world is unfair" though I am not 100% certain on that.

  • yop, you got the translation right ;)

  • Mon Dieu!!!!

  • This has got to be one of the most beautiful, if not THE most beautiful musical I have ever seen. I have never heard a song like this before in my life. I'm stunned

  • @chiyome21 check also 'Roméo et Juliette' out as well as 'Les Dix Commandements' ;) i guess it will please you too =)

  • "three wise man and their gold over us poor shepards"

  • it is so amazing I am at a loss of words.

the actor for Quasimodo is astounding!

  • Quasimodo is played by Garou. This is what got his career started.

  • This song is named ''Dieu que le monde est injuste'', not ''Vivre''! :P

  • je ferait se role un jour....I'll do that show one day!!!

  • io al versione in fancese al odio fa skifo

  • My God! It's amazuhng. I die for this musical.

  • This song moves me so...it just makes me want to cry.

  • his voice is amazing!

I love his voice so much!

It's the perfect voice for Quasimodo..^^

    And I think he's cute

  • @PinkyDyst only 'cause you've never heard Giò Di Tonno's version. That's really STUNNING.

  • @PinkyDyst You say cute, I say his is smokin, burning HOT!

  • The most sad part of it is the guitar at the begining. I just want to cry at that part...

  • well I would choose Quasimodo in this case.Garou is just too super hot to be in the role of someone that is ugly

  • Closer than you would think, actually. Esmeralda = Notre Dame/Mary.

At least that's my interpretation - to me, Esmeralda is the Notre Dame cathedral. She is the ultimate symbol of love in the novel, and by being a beatiful woman in flesh and blood she solves a narrative problem of portraying the cathedral as something precious, which is Hugo's intention with the novel.

In this song, Quasimodo sings to both Esméralda and God, which is probably why you got the idea they were one and the same.

    It's not a problem, i'm not angry at you :) .

  • Jesus don't exist, Quasimodo :D .

  • That line: "That Jesus that we adore has he always prefered the three wise mens with their gold to us shepherds." Has a really deep meaning into it.

  • My brother went to go see this play in Toronto which stared the original actors in 1999. He said it was amazing. I'm so jealous...

  • The correct name of this song is "Dieu que le monde est injuste"

  • I also always cry, when I hear him singing. Not only in this musical, also his own songs

  • I think this Quasimodo is pretty hot underneath all the make-up

  • Totally agree!

  • Agreee =]

  • how much he loves Esmeralda

  • Quasimodo is not ugly!!

  • dünya çok adaletsiz

  • Garou is without a doubt the star of this musical! He's the perfect Quasimodo! His voice, his passion, his acting - everything is amazing! I almost cry everytime I watch this song and "Le Pape de Fous"... :)

  • i agree completely.

  • Totally agree, he's amazing

  • I fully agree--except I don't cry at Le Pape de Fous, I cry at Danse mon Esmeralda.

  • Same here.

  • Personally I always cry during this song. The line "The satin of your dark skin is not made for tramps." It always makes me well up with tears. It so beautiful, and the emotion! So amazing!

  • I totally agree, dazedlady. :D I love the line "And on which side is God - on the side of monstraces or on the side of those who pray morning and night?" It has so much meaning to it :')

  • This is "Dieu que le monde est injuste" not Vivre which is sung by Esmeralda

  • this song is sad :(

  • In the novel, you can see some of his former kindness, to his brother Jehan and perhaps some to Quasimodo when he was a baby. But once he really got into the religion and became a priest as well as into alchemy and let his lust take over, it was too late for him. He had morally, spiritually, and then mentally been corrupted.

  • Esmeralda is so Shallow -.-

  • Yes she is, sadly. Although she was correct about Frollo's intentions towards her, she was not about Phoebus or Quasimodo. There is a scene in the original novel, where he tries to point out to her how Phoebus is also shallow and a user and himself - by putting two vases of flowers in different pots on her window ledge. One pot is rude and common-looking, but the flowers in them are fresh and blooming - while the other is a broken, leaking crystal vase with withered flowers.

  • I meant to say that he tries to show the difference between himself (Quasimodo) and Phoebus. Unfortuantely, perhaps not knowing the inherit meaning of the two vases, she chose the withered flowers in the cracked vase to hold onto.

  • Another heartbreaking scene in the book, he tries to show her his own true intentions to her in comparison to Phoebus by singing to her a song "..without rhyme or rhythm (such as a deaf man would make", which is really beautiful in its meanings.

  • But we are left wondering at the end of the book, "Did he really have the potential to love?" He has been so deformed by society mentally that any manifestation of love acceptable by society would be hard to comprehend. Of course, in the musical we are pretty sure that he has the capability to love.

  • Who are you talking about? Quasimodo, Phoebus, or Claude Frollo? If you mean Quasimodo, then I think he had that inherit ability to want to love - despite the fact he never got it. Phoebus, I suppose you could make that arguement about him, but he's more of a pig - if you will. He knows that what he's doing by cheating and leading Esmeralda on and by making Fleur de Lys jealous of her. As for Claude Frollo, I believe yes, before he entered the priesthood - he did have that capacity.

  • Garou est le Dieu...

  • Il s'appelle comment?

  • i LOVE his voice! i wish my french was better then i wouldn't have to read the subs.

  • magnifique chanson

  • ♥Quasimodo♥...Im singing this song for my French preformance and next year's French Cabaret!!!

  • PERFECT, just perfect. Garou is such a great ACTOR.

  • et Garou!

  • Dieu que j'ADORE cette chanson!

  • *runs up stage and hugs him* So sad...

  • I know what you mean! this makes me SO Sad!*tears up*

  • Uh, this is Dieu que le monde est injuste, not Vivre.
