I wish there would of been this much concern when we came back from Vietnam, I wanted to go to college, but the GI Bill didn't pay squat back then, when you had a wife and family to support, heck in my part of the country, there wasn't even decent jobs for veterans or anybody else, so had to work back-breaking construction jobs, and now paying for it today, with bad health problems.

I am so sorry - we did you wrong - would support extending the GI Bill to the children who served in Veitnam - we cannot let what happen to you happen again, so many people think they are supporting the troops because now we clap when they walk through the airport - but that is all they are willing to do - everyone should let our leaders know this is not patiritism - the GI Bill and health care should our number one priority.

that will never happen, for the children of the older veterans, as most are in their mid 20's to 40 years old, and will do no good for the older veterans as most are to sick to go to to school. health care at the va is a joke, I had to wait 9 months for chemo therapy for my cancer, now just waiting to die from cancer, as the treatments came to late for me.

Tell your story to Obama - your story and thousands of others needs to be heard - how could you have to wait for 9 months for chemo - that makes me so so so sad. People need to hear that even if they don't want to.

No Obama is trying to make affordable for all the same healthcare benefits that Senators and Congressman get, which I haven't read but would guess is about the best.

Health care benefits for veterans is a completely different issue - for war related injuries they should get the very best doctors and care availble at no cost for as long as needed. Does Ron Paul mind you use that language under his name?

It is about time that we renew our promise with our veterans and fully pay for the cost of an education. It is not only morally right but also a great investment in the future of this country.

Unless the veteran is physically disabled, waiting until 'this mission is accomplished' to receive their GI bill education; would give our troops more INCENTIVE to re-enlist, while giving the VA time to become fully funded and able to provide proper medical care without having to over-medicate our Veterans. Being over-medicated totally defeats the purpose of a quality education, and in most cases the very life and future of the veteran.
