they don't hire people for the reaction. There are certain angles and lighting conditions for it to be invisible. the Invisible thread is ALOT thinner than the width of a human hair so the "actors" probably couldn't see it but the camera could.

The best lighting conditions is not in somewhere really really bright and you generally whear the same colored shirt as the thread.

I think that this guy did it really crappy but the spectator won't see it if you do a good job

Why else would the blonde whos glasses these were have them tucked into the top of her evening gown? THere is a small piece of wax at the end of the ivisible string that the performer hides on his thumb or fingernail. When the time comes the performer affixes the wax to the object that he wants to levitate. When the trick is finished, he removes the wax along with the string.
