  • This was originally recorded on Columbia's R&B subsidiary,Okeh

  • I was about 9 when this was released. I guess you call me an appreciator. I can't sing a note, When I think of his wonderful voice and realize he had serious problems with his ears from the age of 13, I am amazed. The mind does strange things. I never think of this song that I don't remember Julie London singing "Cry Me a River."

  • Wow, that's great sound quality for a 78!

  • @bashbrannigan The 78rpm players with vacuum-tube amplifiers were pretty good. They were specifically designed to play that kind of disc, with the right size stylus and the right weight on the tonearm. I don't think you get the same reproduction with a 33-45-78 adjustable-speed player, and I think the smaller stylus tends to pick up a lot of hash that the larger 78-rpm stylus never touches.

  • I HEAR YOU RABBLUE

  • So this is Johnny Ray singing his famous song. It is great! Thank you.
