@bashbrannigan The 78rpm players with vacuum-tube amplifiers were pretty good. They were specifically designed to play that kind of disc, with the right size stylus and the right weight on the tonearm. I don't think you get the same reproduction with a 33-45-78 adjustable-speed player, and I think the smaller stylus tends to pick up a lot of hash that the larger 78-rpm stylus never touches.
