I'm a hairstylist...when people tell me 3 inches..I take off 2 inches.....then they always say..."yeah thats good"...I don't think clients realize how much inches look like..lol

@mengmaus Yes, you're right. I once asked a hairdresser to cut a few centimeters, but she cut 30! I was so sad because I had very very long hair. I think she was jealous (she did the same thing to 2 of my long haired friends too!!!)

@mengmaus yes, sadly hair dressers cant see inside your mind. *Rolls eyes* if you want something seriously specific find a picture as close as possible and go to a stylist you TRUST. dont get pissed off cuz you paid for a 6 dollar hair cut and it didnt turn out exactly as wanted. Man people complain about the dumbest things.

I wouldn't recommend point cutting hair unless your really good at cutting to begin with. It's very easy to accidently take a chunk out of someone's hair and it's also easy to cut your finger doing that.

This haircut is painful. Seriously- if you want to learn how to handle long hair, go check out the long hair forums (just google it). Flatirons? Randomly chopping length to "lighten" hair? ZOMG.

Flat irorns damage your hair worse than pretty much anything but chemical treatments (perms or bleaching your hair). It makes your hair brittle and more likely to get little white dots and split. The trouble is, it's not obvious damage at first, so you flatiron your hair, then you NEED to flatiron your hair to look OK, and you're just damaging it more.
