Theres a shadow banking system and also a massive derivitives market which is more than 10 times the worlds gdp. In other words theres 10 times the worlds productive capacity floating around the worlds banking systems which are ficticious and made out of thin air.

Of course the libertarain solution would have been to let them go broke which would have sent strong signals, but if you ever watch Max Keiser youd know that the banks have them hostage and keep threatening to blow up the system.I dont know what party this Italian minister comes from but hes one of the main heads of the European for Freedom and Democracy Group.
