  • I hate soap operas but this reminds me of my grandmother who used to watch them faithfully. makes me sad and happy at the same time. Great theme.

  • autumn breeze that one make sense to me through LIBRA SCORPIO and SAGITTARIUS those Zodiac AUTUMN signs.

  • I loved this ending theme.

  • I was never into General Hospital, yet I would always rush home from school (school let out at 2:45) to listen to the closing theme music--it just sounded so epic. It was rare to get the entire theme and/or no voiceovers announcing what was coming on next.

  • @emerybayblues True that :)

  • Been watching Gh since I was 7 years old in 83 and I remember this theme so fondly was kinda mad when they changed in April 1993 when I was still in High School I am glad I got to hear again on here you are a gem for posting thanks a mill!! ;-)

  • @jasoncarly Thank you. I'm glad you enjoy hearing again.

  • Ah, this theme brings back so many memories. Watched GH from 89 and onward with my mom. Loved this tune. XD

  • @TopKirby8305 Glad you enjoy this theme, friend. Please feel free to watch the other "versions" of the theme that I have uploaded.

  • where did you find this theme in such good quality

  • @Digifan23 I had downloaded it on Limewire a few years ago. At this point, I doubt if anyone is able to download it using L/W now, cuz I tried to do so a year or so ago and it did not show up in the search :(

Oh yeah, the theme is also included on the "Television's Greatest Hits, Vol.5: In Living Color" CD.

  • If GENERAL HOSPITAL is to be cancelled in 2012, "rumored to be," then please bring this back, I HATE the junk theme that is currently being used. This CLASSIC theme would be a great way to say goodbye to this CLASSIC and ICONIC soap.

  • @HN22NL2 awww, hell no!

  • @HN22NL2 I agree I use to watch this with my grandmother.

  • I remember many a Friday hearing this after school. For some strange reason, know matter what I was doing, on Fridays at 3:55 p.m I would turn to WPVI just to hear this theme. Classic Theme!!!!!!

  • What does Little House on the Prairie and General Hospital have in common ? They

used the same typography for their titles!

  • @walkingencyclopedia very observant and true! LOL! I never noticed that until now!

  • Jack Urbont also composed the theme song for "Carol Burnett and Friends".

  • I never really watched General Hospital . . . but from what I understood it actually tooka place in a hospital. Not like today where it takes place wherever . . . The producers of this soap should revert back to this theme. It captures the essence of 'GH' I think. Anyone agree with me ? . . . .Too bad soaps don't use themes like this anymore. They just wanna be like prime-time series' and wanna keep up with the Starbucks crowd . . . and let us not forget the "Twilight" crowd.

  • I remember hearing this once in its entirety like this back in 1987.

On fridays they'd play most of it w/closing credits. Even though I was a bit too young to watch gh back then, I can't get enough of it now! Too bad ALL of todays shows don't have the long open & close music like they did back then

  • PURE SWEETNESS!

    Thanks for sharing!

  • This is Ernie Anderson, reminding you to join us again tomorrow for General Hospital.

  • Listening to this theme at about 2:55pm on sick or snow days, made me think, gosh I'm lazy and should be out doing something (like being in school) besides sitting on my butt watching the GH closing sequence. Talk about guilty pleasure.

  • I used to have a cassette that had vocals to this , but lost it years ago. =(

  • I would literally tune in on Fridays for the extended credits and the full musical score on GH! What a classic theme this really is. It sounds sort of like the music you'd here on an old TV medical drama, like Marcus Welby or one of those older shows.

  • @TypesALot I did the same on Fridays. Though I was a faithful CBS soap watcher growing up, I LOVED this theme and would tune to it to listen to it.

  • @TypesALot I would also tune in on Friday's. I loved the extended credits. This is such a wonderful piece of music.

  • @mikeyb2049 Oh yeah, it is. Glad you enjoy.

  • @JHand04 80s soap opera themes were so good.

  • They should bring this theme back for 2010. I don't like the theme they have now.

  • @Margie75 oh the theme they have on now is HORRIBLE. Everything about that program is horrible. What a fucked up program. And to think this was once the best show in history(however do know that I was not a fan of Luke the first six years he was on here either! I tuned in for Bobbie, Amy, Rick, Monica, Steve, Jesse, dashing Scorpio, Holly, Scotty, Heather, Lila, you get my drift. Luke will always be a nasty rapist no matter how well loved he is now. He oughta live in shame!

  • This one is a classic!

  • @wonderglory I agree with you. My mom used to watch this soap

and I remember hearing this theme and I fell in love with GH and

watched it from Luke and Laura's wedding until now. The new theme

makes me want to vomit. They should bring the opening

credits of the hospital and close the show with this theme.

  • I've only seen a few episodes of this show ever but this is a phenomonal theme. It''s too bad the soaps (except for Y&R and Days) don't have these remarkable themes anymore!

  • mikeyb2049 . . . I totally agree with you ! ! I was a daytime freak before 1981 when the Procter & Gamble ruined their themes, by changing them. I miss this, even though I was never a GH fan. But the theme is cool.

  • @softwater88 yes the song was great!

  • @mikeyb2049 Y@R and Days still use the original but you could tell in later years they kinda changed part of the closing themes. Yes the same theme but you could tell it is was not so melodramatic by 93)

  • The guy who wrote this song also penned most of the "Marvel Super Heroes" themes from 1966.

  • Really? I didn't know lol.

  • Yeah, it was a shock when I saw his name mentioned on the Iron Man movie.

  • @kresblain and he did the theme song to OLTL from 1975-84. Jack Urbont used this "Autumn Breeze" from 1975-1993(well maybe 1978)

  • Thanks, JH! Keep up the good work.

  • Welcome Back!
