Ok, waves contribute to the breakup of the ice sheets. You are greatly simplifying the problem by trying to identify a single cause. Obviously, thinning ice sheets would be more prone to breaking, for example. All this article does is point the final cause, and ignore everything else. It's not like these waves are anything new.

Nice - a complete and utter liar. CO2 from existing metabolic processes of living biomass is a net zero. Plants take in CO2, we eat plants and animals that eat plants, and the same CO2 goes back into the atmosphere. Jodark - it's called the carbon cycle. Read up on it. CO2 in the living biomass is virtually a net zero. See, those parts of the plants that we don't eat, like stems and trunks, do get eaten eventually, and fungus and bacteria liberate the carbon as either CO2 or Methane. Only a tiny, tiny fraction of the 10^9 tonnes of biosphere carbon is sequestered with any degree of "permanence". Again, the idiot is lying, and you flunked sixth-grade earth science.

Oversimplifying the issue. Fossil fuel based fertilizers and pesticides are not the only option for agriculture and corn based ethanol is not the only option for transportation.

A Carbon Dioxide Cap and Trade system will work better than any other method, if reducing carbon emissions is the objective. I remain skeptical on the Representative's objective. It should be noted that such a system has already succeeded in reducing Sulfur Dioxide emissions, which contribute to acid rain.

People don't respire sulfur dioxide, however. It is produced by volcanoes and industrial processes. Carbon dioxide is generated by breathing. I suggest all the environmentalists quit breathing: I guarantee the problem will be solved!

Also oversimplifying the issue. Carbon dioxide is also generated through industrial processes and the decay of organic matter, among other things. We mitigate what we can. Granted, we could burn polluters for energy to prevent them from respiring. However, the odor is likely to be unbearable.
