It is sharp and the chips are good size (the sharpness indicator) but it is also an electric chain saw. One of the difficulties of using an electric is the small size of the motor as far as horsepower is concerned. I also have a home owner skip tooth antikickback chain on it which in turn slows the cut. On the other hand, it is great in the shop.
