@Mottahead Or not. Our political system is a mess because people are persuaded by empty rhetoric. In policy debate, where evidence is valued over rhetoric, the people who win are the ones that demonstrate that their claims are best supported by the evidence. A politician from the debate circuit is highly qualified in the areas of in research, speech and critical thinking. You're the only big talker, in addition to being a reactionary asshole who is insecure about his own intelligence.
@Mottahead I agree with DrOman on this one, policy debate is actually despised in the debate circut for valuing the amount of information over the clarity or pursuasiveness of the speaker. I'm a policy debater and we are taught to deliver evidence in a thoughtful and clear manner rather than lie to the judges through our teeth. The people who debate are smart, you BS, you get torn to shreds. Evidence must be backed up, that is the basis of policy debate.
Is it just me, or did that guy ask his team to concede timeframe after the 1AC cross-x? I mean, sure, bird flue was a terrible case, but there WAS a good way to run it. What the hell?
