the first rap song ,inspired by the champ and his way with wordS ,from the great musical mind of Steve Mariott , and to us for our listening ,pleasure ,to bad rap today is as bad as R$B today , kinda like the Isley Bros ,without the good parts ..... this track is awsome thogh , who knew what it could lead to at the time , eh?
A rock tune about Muhammed Ali? Wow. Marriott was absolutely fearless. Now I know why he was buried in nameless grave. Wow, his conscience was bigger than his commercial wealth. The purity is inspiring when you consider the atmosphere.
@tomitstube your comment was absolutely perfect! fearless without a doubt. he stayed true as to what HE wanted to play regardless. im still trying to figure out how to describe what genre they really are. they will go from hard rock to blues, tosoul,to funk, all on the same album.
@MrVerncoleman ~ pie was perfect. stevie ate up american culture. he was complete honest and free in his convictions. and what a talent. they all were.
it's like trying to define neil young. they're great musicians.

And something overlooked about this tune is the incredible drumming by Jerry Shirley. He was a badass drummer.

I love the drum intro to this song. I used to play this song in a band back in the 70s
