I grew up in Greenwood Ns. Dad was in the services for 41 yrs. Being a "base-brat" was fun! 25 cent movies @ the Zedex. Free swimming. Manditory hockey involvement. (rink-rat). Great schools. The Rec Center. Cheap stuff @ the BX (base exchange). Nothing better than being a soldier's kid! Made me who I am growing up on a base. I respect authority and respect others as a result. My kids reap the rewards.

@6digit Lots of factors determine the size of our Forces, budgets, education as you have to have a minimum of grade 12 to join, foreign policy, politics, and of course the cost of having a maintaining a military is getting even more expensive all the time. We tend to go to war only when it absolutely needed. Canada has a lot of commitments so it boils down to priorities. It`s often better to have a small but a technologically advanced military than a large force for a single purpose.

If memory serves, sniper is one of many qualifications that an infanteer can achieve. So if you want sniping, then you are going to have to be PBI (Poor Bloody Infantry).

You gotta blow them away with the kinda shots you can make before they will even consider seeing if you qualify for sniper school, I'v bin shooting bolt action rifles since I was 5 (.22's of course) and by the time I was 12 I could group three .22 rounds inside themself (first two shots melted together:D, second went right through both of them) at 125 yards, and I most likely am not going to make sniper school.
