  • sounds like bernard purdie to me, minght not be but its usually a good guess. anyway this track is a fonky muva licker!

  • This is my favorite Stevie album, with Sugar being the main reason why. It's flawless, I suggest that you check out the whole thing.

  • I agree - the drums on this track are incredible.

  • ooooooweeeeeeeeeee. Jammin

  • Stevie.....one of the greats of music...period.

  • these are the greatest drums ive ever ever heard on one track in my life stevie is the master

  • Dear God - why is this album out of print?! Surely it ranks alongside his best works?

  • Now I know where Mark Ronson gets his drum inspiration from.

  • Awesome, and I thought I knew Stevie Wonder's music!

  • Thank you so much for adding all these :)

  • love this jam!

  • UM DOS MELHORES MÚSICOS DO MUNDO !

  • great song

  • This must be - honestly - about the 14th time I play this, in a row.

  • Hidden Stevie Wonder gem :-D

  • I saw Stevie yesterday xxxxx :)

  • Never heard this one before. Great tune. I love the beginning, but everything in this tune i like, guitar is awesome, the horns are fantastic, and then there is Stevie, what can you say ? he's awesome.

  • @damian4444 What about the drums??

  • @johnniewalker23 I head that the drums were actually an uncrdited Bernard "Pretty" Purdie but it sounds like Stevie to me.

  • @johnniewalker23 This is SUPER LATE, but I think it's Uriel Jones. It says on the discography that Stevie Wonder was playing with the Funk Brothers for "Sugar."

  • Sugar Sugar.. Stevie is Sugar!!

  • That cover art gets me every time.

"Hey Mom I finally got that Stevie Wonder in the mail"

I like how it says do not drop...

  • i can't even say how good this record is - i can't wear this record out - and that fill at 2.31 - wow.

  • I just LOVEEE this song... and not just the drums...!

I love the lyrics, the melody and Stevie's singing of course!

  • I wonder how a blind man is so fricken good!

  • One of my faves from Stevie

  • This track has the best drums of all time.

I've been trying to find info on the song but haven't been able to dig anything up. I wanna know who's playing!!

  • @ItsMachineHead...same here. If you do figure out who was playing the drums lemme know, I'd love to find that out.

  • @johnniewalker23 I'm about 98% positive that Stevie played them himself. The dude is a legend!

  • @ItsMachineHead man i think it's stevie! he played drums on a lot of his tunes

  • @ItsMachineHead Apparently, it's Marvin Gaye. I didn't know it but he started out as a session drummer.

  • @ItsMachineHead Stevie's playing the drums on this track!!

  • SO many comments about the drumming on this song....we do know that Stevie himself is playing, right? Yes, he is a genius!!!

  • No we don't. Tried to find info on this song but wasn't able to. My guess is it's the Funk Brothers providing those licks.

  • An excellent video, and a great artist of all time, is always good to hear. Thank you!

  • I FUCKING LOVE THIS SONG MAN!!!

  • thank you Johnnie for this,.

  • My pleasure, thanks for the comment, made me actually want to listen and hear those drums.

  • @johnniewalker23 Well, we know that a lot of the Funk Bros. tracks had two drummers playing simultaneously, there is a good chance that this is what we are hearing, Pistol and Uriel. Maybe Stevie and one of them. I think this would explain the accented kick hits that make this song so significant.

  • @MavericksJSF You're probably right. I have a feeling it's not Stevie on the drums though, cuz I'd have figured if it was we'd know about it.

  • Dang if they played this on the radio today and made it sound a little electronic i would think someone made it yesterday!!!

    timeless music is the best.

  • Stevie is a party to listen too.. jam at its best!! Got to hand it to the musicians on this album!! Every song a Great one!!

  • My memory of this song will forever be riding in a car at 5:00 AM with this crazy brilliant guitarist singing this at the top of his lungs with pure unadulterated joy...

  • THE DRUMS ARE CRAZY FRESH!!

  • shit yeah! one of my all-time favorite drum tracks.

Sorry, but this stuff was better than his 70's stuff. This stuff is brilliant.

  • ?? This IS his 70's stuff....right at the start of it

  • Do you not recognize the dramatic change from his 60's stuff to his 70's stuff?? This album was definitely still of the exciting, triumphant 60's vibe, as where Superstition (only 2 years later) and such - had the very sleazy, darker 70's vibe. He of course helped define the 70's music scene, I guess I'm just not fond of 70's music in general - it's always seemed like such a let-down after the ubiquitous musical brilliance of the 60's... even better clothes too, haha!

  • DOPE!!

  • one of the greatest songs...
