My lover and I are of the opinion that this majestic piece of artistic beauty is worth sharing on face book twice! Raw pure quality one of the best tunes of the last 200 years covered with gusto by a man who does look rather good for his age all fcuking good!
@nik62es It's quite obvious you will never understand this band. Perhaps if Murphy had topped himself all those years ago instead of Ian Curtis, in which case It would have been Bauhaus the music press glorified and not Joy Division, you would have posted these comments to a youtube video of Joy Division performing The passion of Lovers! Yes, Curtis was a great lyricist, one of the best, but the truth is that Bauhaus were far more musically accomplished. Don't believe the hype!
@nik62es Had Peter Murphy topped himself instead of Ian Curtis, in which case it would have been Bauhaus rather than Joy Division that the music press were eulogising over, chances r u would have been posting your comments 2 a Joy Division video slating them 4 daring 2 perform The passion of lovers or Hollow hills! Yes, Ian Curtis was a great lyricist, one of the best but Bauhaus are the superior band musically, possessing much greater variety and something called humour. Don't believe the hype!

If you're going to compared desfavourably Bauhaus to Joy Division, you're just being a johnny come lately punter who's out to outpunk everyone out. Piss off. Both Post Punk and No wave tried to avoid the dogmatic pitfalls of Hardcore punk and late punk itself.
If you want to follow rules, become a straightedger.
Bauhaus always had their well established influences on their sleeves; eno, bowie, dead can dance & t rex- Among others.
good cover...bauhaus is one of the few bands (chameleons, comsat angels, new order) who can make joy division cover without embrassing themselfes (U2 aka bono) good cover (7,5/10).
@OpethSucks With a user name like that, do you honestly expect your opinions to carry any credence whatsoever? "Cheesy pop, goth band"? Have you ever heard Hollow hills?, Mask?, The dog's a vapour? or Stigmata martyr? I suppose you think New Order are a great band as well!
Much better than New Order's cover of "Love Will Tear Us Apart".
Though I must take issue with the idea that Nottingham has more depressing architecture than Manchester! Manchester was a building site a few years ago; Nottingham's industrial mill buildings weren't replaced by hi-rise flats a la Hulme - rather, they were re-engineered as hi-cost living spaces. But there you go.
I just recently discovered the Chameleons. I don't know how I missed them back in the day, but they are fantastic. *Better late than never?) If anyone out there likes Interpol, you need to hear the Chameleons.
I talked to Daniel Ash at the end of a Detroit-Los Angeles plane flight last Memorial Day weekend (he DJ'ed at an Industrial gig there; I was there for the DEMF).
I specifically asked him if there was any way this would see the light on an official release. Unfortunately he said "No" :(
As well as being a really original band I've always liked, Bauhaus are one of the few bands who do covers really well. This is excellent as are their covers of T-Rex's Telegram Sam and Bowie's Ziggy Stardust.
Damn...they still got it. Makes me proud. And yeah, Fall Out Boy needs to be takin out back and beat for even thinking about doing a Joy Division cover. I would like to volunteer my services.......
Absolutely amazing. I wish I was there at that gig, as this is my favorite Joy Division song, but Peter Murphey smiled at me. And dedicated Passions of Lovers/She's in Parties to me. I guess I couldn't ask for more. They're both fantastic bands.
I think Pete and the boys did this song justice I mean one pioneering band covering another(altough im a bigger JD fan)Hey it could be worse we could be listening to Falloutboy doing" Love Will Tear Us Apart"
i agree fall out boy is geting anoying little hipster emo kids into goth music i had an anoying little prick ask me if ive ever heard the song love will tear us apart and then said that it sucked cuz ugly goths like me new that song :@
Drummer needs to get on that hi-hat. That is a huge part of the character of the song.

It's strange to me that this sounds more like Joy Division than New Order does.

Bauhaus is the only band to cover Joy Division that gets the bass lines right. Probably because they were contemporaries.
