  • I agree Waafna. I liked the story but the jokes where kind of repetitive. By the time I got to the Sorceress of Darshiva I was gritting my teeth, ready to either pull out all my hair or break something. What I didn't understand is the part where girls who are 16 or 20 like guys who are old enough to be their dads. Ew! That is just not cool and so not realistic. I know it is a fantasy but come on. That kind of age difference is impossible to overlook.

  • the books are my teenage favourites, they will stand forever in my mind! BELGARAID RULES!!!!

  • No movie will ever be as good as the book. Plain and simple. David Eddings is my favorite author.

  • Second greatest fantasy story of all time. Succeeded, in my opinion only by the Elenium/Tamuli. Eddings is miles above any other fantasy I have ever read(and that is alot.)

Shame on you for making me think for a second that there was going to be a movie. As intrigued as I was at first glance, it wouldn't work. As others have said, it would be impossible for anyone to make a movie of Eddings stuff that would be anything but an insult to his work.

  • @o77eh I agree.

  • you folks are barking mad. I agree, I enjoyed the books when I was 13, chewed through the whole series in 2 weeks. but the characters never grow. They never change. Garion is still a whiny boy at the end, his wife a petulant spoiled princess. years, decades pass, and the characters don't grow up, only grow old. There isn't the development you see even in Sword of Truth or the Shanara books. That's why Game of Thrones gets picked up, instead of this.

  • @Waafna Umm did you read the Mallorian? Not to mention Sword of truth is a bunch of blabbering crap you have to flip through because the characters never shut up, not to mention repeating themselves 15 times in each novel.

  • @claytorizzle yes, read the *whole* series in two weeks. and I agree, sword of truth ran *way* too long. My argument that the characters changed and developed over the course of the (far too many) books still stands.

  • would be a good 2 parter, belgariad then the mallorian movies.

  • @megakingofRS 2-parter? Make 2 movies from what closely 10 books? Eragon was made from one book and the removing and cutting of material devastated the movie. I would not have my Belgariad nor the Mallorean stories ruined like that!

  • Great music and great images!

  • I am also lucky enough to have a first edition hard back first addition of Polgara the Sorceress signed by David Eddings!

  • these were the first real books I read when I was 15 and I was hooked after the first few chapters, I have read both series at least 4 times now and I am revisiting them again this week, I am also trying to introduce my husband to the books as he only really reads biographies. I have read other books, even by eddings but, I have never been able to form the strong attachement to the characters that I have with the belgariad, malorean and linked books. I so hope this will be a film one day!

  • It is a real shame that they did not make them into a longer series following on from The Mallorean, or even made them into a film series. If they had, I think that people would have realised that Lord of the Rings is not the only film series based on a book set in this similar time stage.

But the most recent attempt at a film set on a book in this time stage was Eragon:

    Book = Good

    Film  = ABSOLUTE HORSE SHIT

  • you have a video which has only a thing about the seven gods of the Belgariad not about the books at all, it is not at all right, good idea thougth. Next time use people and quickly explain what happpens in pawn of prophecy. Or just use the F*****g blub

  • I WANT TO BELIEVE

  • Even though the books description on characters features was lacking a bit, the sereis would forever stay in my heart.

  • No movie trailer would have that much writing in it.

  • Year and Years ago, there was a Usenet group, alt.books.eddings I think, that had an alost continuous conversation of who would play whom, what Earth race would correspond to which, etc. (about the only thing everybody would agree to; Sendaria was Canada.)

  • Belgarion drew his sword from his back and as he did so it erupted in a searing blue flame. The blue stone attached to the hilt of the giant sword shone with an inner light, as if to banish the coming darkness. The daemons cowered , as if the sight of this caused it pain. The power of the moment made the ground shake. Belgarion was now burning pillar of blue light, the stone adding its power to his already formidable might. Belgarion locked the daemons eyes to his and uttered a word, one word.

  • @Thedodogos "Begone" he said, his voice nearly a whisper. As the word left his lips all the built up power within him, all the hate and will and sorrow erupted like a burning volcano. His very being came alight and the world shook. The daemon, powerful as he was, was as a child in the face of an avalanche, of such might were the powers released. The daemon screamed as searing blue light enveloped it in a killing embrace.

  • love it! gives justice to the master of fanstay david eddings and his amazing books!

  • what is this song

  • yeah I know what you mean

  • When I started reading them I couldn't stop. For me these books are even more epic than LOTR (which i read also) and i revisit them so often, it seems like once a day I am back with Belgarath, Polgara, Garion, and the rest of the gang, dodging murgos and infiltrating Rak Cthol. Long live Belgariad!!!

  • @TheCCrunner98

I agree with u I felt the same way it's like u can't get enough it's like a book which has a spell on you and when u read it it's like ur with them helping them defeat Torak or Zandramas and the Grolim or Murgo's or Thulls it's llike something that makes you tingle with excitement inside I just love them when I see a video of them I start to get a feeling inside and it makes me jumpy excited happy all sorts I can't explain it Long live King Belgarion and the rest of my hero's

  • @TheCCrunner98 Did you read the rest of the stories? Like Belgaraths and Polgaras views of the ages?

  • @Therokkie97 yeah i've read the malloreon (however i still have to read Belgarath and Polgara the biographies).

  • @TheCCrunner98 Icant beleive that David Eddings passed away... His books should be turned into a series or a movie!

  • @TheCCrunner98 way more epic than LOTR

  • even if this was the best film ever made it could never ever do justice to the books they are just too good

  • @mmapandaman I agree. They would never find the right actors either. One person's Polgara is completely different to another person's...

  • They made Terry Goodkind's series into a tv show I wish they would do the same for David Eddings series or even a movie. The books are amazing.

  • @WeepingWillow1989 better then goodkinds richard

  • @DenienN Oh definitely haha

  • wow !!!! it feels exactly the way I pictured it.............I think all Belgariad fans should make a petition to over turn the will ............I always imagined Angelica Huston as Polgara might be a bit old now.....sigh

  • It's a good trailer, but I don't think any books from the Belgariad or the Malloreon should be made into films. I have my own image in my own head of how everyone speaks, how everyone looks etc. I don't want my 'fantasy' to be ruined.. Like Harry Potter, really, but the other way round. When I read the books, I only imagine the movie characters. :/

  • @Belgarath98 I agree, it would just ruin it for me, ya' know?

  • Yer, I wish it was a movie, but I think it's good Eddings isn't letting people take his book and ruin it, while turning it into a movie, 'cause that's what happens ALOT of the time. Great books are ruined when turned into movies, because the books are written to be good as books, not as movies.

  • I got so happy and excited when I saw the movie trailer. Its so sad how they won't be making it into a movie, it would actually be bigger then the Lord of the Rings if they got the movie just perfect. Its too bad how it won't happen. This would be the one movie I would watch for the rest of my life too.

I love your clips to go with it, quite beautiful and interesting. They really worked for the idea too. Good Job :)

  • @axback1986 I just read your comments, and isisathene22's reply, and it took me a couple attempts to understand what you were trying to say. Do you really think that good English? Plz tell me cus I can't understand yur comment, I mite just be looking for sank to complain on or just be rude, ya?

  • I almost had a 'mini' heart attack seeing the words "movie trailer" .. I really don't understand why there is no movie or a TV series is made of it still ..a thousand Harry Porters' cold not compete with the beauty of this story ... I don't understand why people look at me like I'm talking in some foreign language when I talk about the books .. from my opinion this is a must read for all fantasy lovers ..

  • @shakeym97 Eddings said no.

  • @shakeym97 unfortunately, David Eddings has a stiipulation in his will stating that none of his characters or story lines can ever be made into a movie. its a horrible shame really

  • @Frost0123 oh, I wasn't aware of that. but in a way I think that its good looking at what they did to harry potter and twilight :)

  • your only showing scenerys

  • The footage is taken straight from the BBC's "Planet Earth".

  • @Crasstastic1 Exactly.

  • even though they would have to change the story line a bit obviously, i believe it would definaetly be worth making a movie series out of this. ive always wanted them to

  • Nice enough I suppose but I have to agree with burning1ice in that it's just "landscapes and dramatic music."

I also hope that there isn't a film of Eddings work. If the LOTR film trilogy is any indicator then we can safely assume that huge chunks of the Belgariad / Mallorean will be cut to make everything 'fit'.

  • There was never a film made because David Eddings has stated that he never wants his books to become films, and I personally agree, my mind has done wonders to create the images in his books, no film can ever create that sort of vison, thats my only word on that.

  • @ranger240987 first he probably stated that because books are meant to be read and fully imagined by the reader, making it a movie would defeat the purpose. secondly it was the 80's, movies were still evolving and needed more development they didn't look to flash either if they were laden with special effects. but believe it should be visualized, it can be done better now, and with the internet, you tube, art websites, computers, 3d tech and the community could help develop the story. a new way.

  • Very cool! It's a great interpretation of the world of the book! Good job bringing it to life with nature footage.

  • Excellent choice in music, and great stock footage

  • this is stupid. its just landscapes and dramatic music. i love the books and never understood why they didnt make them into a movie, but this is really dumb

  • Comment removed

  • and i thought i was the only one who want to made it into anime XD

  • I've been searching for this great soundtrack! Thanks!

  • very nice !

  • seriously all his books should be made into movies i love them all

  • david eddings coppywrote it wher hollywood cant

  • I really hope thay gonna do a movie of this books.. thay r to good fort not doing one ! Plz hollywood do one!!!

  • @axback1986 are you sure you can read?

  • @IsisAthene22 Yeah I can read why? what was wrong with my comment? plz tell me cuz I can't see anything wrong with it? or is it just you who need anything to complain on?? just to be rude?

  • yh this is one of the best series of books ever written

  • they gotta make a movie
