  • this song blows big time. should've stopped at patsy cline.

  • Why not have a live duet for this song, it would be better with a female live backup.

  • In addition to a history lesson, what makes this song so good is its simplicity. It's clean and transparent; you can't hate them for making a good jam on a classic song.

  • love it

  • TheEndmills ...you Troll, who cares what you think, your a little troll.

  • These guys fucking suck. They play the same little riff throughout the whole song, the singer is a fag, they don't do shit. Fuck.

  • This is is truly so so amazing. I can't believe I didn't know of it until Bones!!

  • ...i know SHE called you baby baby all night long

  • Sample voice is of Candi Staton

  • is there a girl singing? its driving me crazy..i cant figure it out!! ughh!!!

  • This song brings back SOO many memories, good and bad. Either way it takes me back to a time when I was happier and free of pain, struggle, and heartache.

  • I can't listen to this song... :( I get to emotional.

  • What did he say?

  • You know what...these guys are really good! You should check out "Amazing".

  • Her name is Candi, not Kandi! And why is she not in this song..singing live? And who is Joe anyway?

  • the name of the song is "Kandi", the accompanying artist is Candi Staton

  • @antiapathetic original artist

  • @sandiswarmer cuz she sang it in the '70's

  • LOVE IT!!

  • ♥ this song

  • AMAZING song - sends chills up my spine!!

  • It's genius that you guys used the Candi Staton sample. She's a true legend. Beautiful, soulful song. I wonder what it would sound like if you did a second version with Patsy Cline sampled. Hmmmm

  • Great song...it's Candi Staton with One Eskimo.....

  • candi stanton deserves the credit.

  • @lawn77 uh no candi staton does NOT deserve the credit candi station does

  • @muffinsnangels MY BAD IT IS STATON

  • @muffinsnangels MY BAD IT IS STATON SOME BUTHEAD PUT AN i IN IT

  • (S)he Called Me Baby has quite a history. Wikipedia has interesting article on it.

  • I saw them at The Venue in Vancouver -- fantastic evening, incredible musicians

  • I can't get enough of his voice. I love music that moves the soul.

  • Man this played on an episode of Bones, I had to find it. Absolutely beautiful,

  • i would bum around my house to this on a saturday morning.

  • OK, I SWEAR this sounds just like the music from Sling Blade... you know the part where Karl is walking around town, seeing the gorilla outside the vacuum store and all that? I can't be the only person thinking this.

  • lol....i thought a black girl was the singer...i like the voice

  • @kneedragger81 That's because they merged Candi Staton's version of "He Called Me Baby" which is a totally different song reworked with their song "Kandi" as a sort of virtual duet, so that is her voice interspersed throughout the song. You can hear her original version YouTube along with several others including Patsy Cline's...

  • @SpiritGirlSF ....ahh....so my ears do not deceive me....lol....thought he had a womanly timbre....thanks for clearing that up there.

  • @SpiritGirlSF Thanks for that. Make sense. Cant stop listening to One Eskimo's studio version, but I should have known that it was Candi singing too.

  • @SpiritGirlSF CANDI STATION...NOT STATON...TOTALLY DIFFERENT SONG

  • Originally sung by Patsy Cline. Not the era that I think of as producing good music. One EskimO must have redone it. Remix, or whatever. Of course I never have heard the Patsy Cline version.

  • Originally sung by Patsy Cline. Pretty old for a great song.

  • I hope they didn't just rip off the original song ("He called me baby") and got the permissions needed to use it in this recording.

  • @LittleMissVigor im almost positive they did, they were on the radio talking about the inspiration of the song and the original . Its not anything they are trying to hide like most artist today they gave credit where it was due.

  • woke up with this song tune in my head. Normally it is empty--my head that is.

  • Unique, stirring, haunting, heart-breaking, moving, sweet.

  • @MaureenBramlage I totally agree. Haunting

  • Compare this to Justin Bieber, Usher, Kanye West, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga...the difference? One eskimO = real musicians.

  • I love this song I really do

  • love it

  • I love love this song.

  • I agree with tmilwaukee belwo - this song moved me in an unexpected way. Very nice.

  • Remake from the 1970s: Candi Stanton & Pasty Cline

  • Love, love, love this song!

  • 8/14/10 Mile high music festival in Denver! Absolutely fantastic live. The drummer really makes a huge contribution when the bass is booming in concert.

  • Why is this not a massive hit??! LOVE IT x

  • this sounds just like the recordinggg:) lovelyyy!

  • this is a remake, from the 1970's Candi Stanton & Pasty Cline-- I'm not sure if the guy is singing the chorus-- It sounds like the Candi Stanton, Thats just what I hear.

    Love the song

  • @sspykb - That is what I am hearing as well... I knew the song from back in the day and when I started hearing it on the local station I kept thinking... I know that voice. Nice job boys...

  • I love this song:!!

  • this songs ill!! the guys very into wat hes singing, i like it a lot :)

does anyone kno wat year this song is?

  • not bad.... I'd like to hear more

  • cool. childish. cool. childish.

  • cool.

  • I LOVE this SONG!!!

  • This is great. Was listening to Candi Staton but still looking for BONES version. WOW !!

  • Love this Song! Can anybody send me that? Would be great

  • aaaa I was looking for it coz of BONES sezon finale

  • Wasn't this on the season 5 finale of Bones?

  • @bonesgirl96 definetely!! took me some time to find this version and now i keep listening to it whole day... I love the lyrics - it fits for Booth and Bones

  • OMG!!! LOVELOVELOVE IT!!!

  • I see a One Eskimo - Candi Staton performance coming up sooner or later.

  • love love love ...one more love. love this song!! :)

  • sexiest song i've heard in a long time

  • @ontheroadrn How do you interpret this song as sexy? It's seems to me he is asking his girl what happened with that guy he heard about from Joe? and she says he called me baby all night long and he wonders why he is not enough. It's about heartbreak and infidelity. At least that's what I get out of it. I like the song though, it's definitely moving.

  • @MorrisseyOner You are right. But he's got a point too: the way this guy sings seems sexy to me, or maybe it's his voice. I don't really know.

  • @MorrisseyOner You are right. But he's got a point too: the way this guy sings seems sexy to me, or maybe it's his voice. I don't really know.

  • I love this song! Great job.

  • Love the story. Candi Staton has an amazing voice. Love how they mix her song with theirs to create a unique story line. The acoustic mix, this dudes soulful sound and Candi Staton's voice is a remarkable achievement. Patsy Cline and Tennessee Ernie Ford recorded this tune back in the early 60's and mid 50's...but this redux sets a new high water mark.

  • I can't wait to go get their CD today. I heard this song a couple of times on VH1, I said "Wow, who is that?" Love them. Looked at their tour schedule, Not coming to Seattle area, bummer.

  • It's been such a long time since I've immediately fell in love with a song, like I did with this one. I heard this for the first time less than 10 minutes ago on Mark and Brian, and I can't stop listening to it! Absolutely amazing song...

  • I'm with tmilwaukee; love this group.

  • One of the BEST soulful, sensual and moving songs I've heard in a while.

    Superb, simply....superb.

  • Unique drum set up, The drummer is also triggering the vocal samples from an octopad. I think more drummers ought to re-think the standard drum kit and change it up like this. It is part of what makes this group sound so different.

    Love it!!

  • wow i feel his pain

  • freaking awesome...also love "amazing"...killer band

  • This is a killer song! It includes a sample of Candi Staton's "He Called Me Babe", which was in turn and cover/remake of Patsy Cline's song "He Called Me Baby" - although Candi changed it up a lot. Ella Washington also did a version of it, which sort of bridged the gap between Patsy's version and Candi Staton's.

  • One Eskimo tomorrow at the Soiled Dove. Presented by KBCO, and I did not get tickets to the show :(

  • Absolutely amazing song. His voice is incredible and he is sooooo hottt!

  • Seeing them at Coachella in less than a month

  • I cannot seem to get enough of this version of this song. it is sooooo touching and real, can't get it out of my head.Don't even know this band but again, hands down....the best thing I've heard, thank you for making me feel.

  • I agree!!! I can't stop listening to it!

  • I love the song....brilliant...what more of the band....Does anyone know where I can buy the CD....I live in Brisbane....Queensland...

  • my mom heard it on ellens show and told me to isten its ok.

  • Plainly amazing. Want more.

  • Met them in Akron OH and they were great, but I kept wanting to sing "pants on the ground" to the lead singer. Sooooo distracting and annoying.

  • 89.9 KCRW los Angeles

  • Heard this song on a local lite alternative radio station and was completely mesmerized. BRILLIANT!

  • OMG... i'm in love with this song... totally addicted!!! i must buy CD post haste!!! <3

  • Awesome!!!

  • I love this song. I heard it on 97.3 radio in San Francisco. The next day I was trying to remember the name of this song so I decided to turn it to the same radio station and believe it or not it was playing again. Awsome voice and very nice voices from the lead singer and Candi Staton. Very smooth and sexy!!

  • listen how by the end of the song his voice becomes more soulful. it's a pretty dramtic change from beginning to end.

  • meant to say past 40 years

  • Very sexy song...reminds me a bit of Eddie Money singing with Ronnie Spector on "Take Me Home Tonight". I don't know if Candi Stanton is as hot as Ronnie was then, though.

  • I'm amazed not to heard more about them as we've had "plain white t's" and perhaps even "the script" however i think One Eskimo are way way better deeper more soulful etc I can't stop listening to this track and the animation is amazing!!!

    Just love it!

  • A chap called Rhudi probabilly 2 yrs ago gave me a sample cd of this group. And i love this song its just fantastic i play it in my cottage in Welford Northants very loud. Lets hope they make it big just like Pink Floyd

  • 3 months ago i predicted this had a shot at being a break out song for these guys but the only place I hear it is on XPN out of Philly and not that often. Shame this is not crossing over to the pop stations, but hip hop is the thing these days, with classic rock avoiding new talent and basically public radio left to carry the torch of alternative and even simple pop gems like this one.

  • Don't give up yet. I think this is going to be big. I heard about One Eskimo on my local radio station. They are fantastic!!

And by the way LOL @ your user name.

  • I have yet to hear it on mainstream radio but XPN plays it a few times a week and included this band in some advertising of cd's they were promoting. Yeah, the godisdeadagain name gets me invited to all the great atheist parties, even though i'm not quite an atheist, and expelled from the christian ones. oh well!

  • @Rh1no1 if u haven't heard this try it out, u may like it. i tried to post the link in this little box but it did not go through, anyway, its a song from joshua james "coal war" pretty amazing voice, try out the live videos to see him in action.

  • I liked it, thanks. Check out Brett Dennen and Damien Rice. I think you might like them too.

    Tc,

    Linds

  • I heard this fantastic song on WMVY on Martha's Vineyard twice in 2 days and caught the name of the band and have been listening ever since. Truly beautiful vocals and guitar! Love it!!

  • ck out the history of this song and how it's changed over the past 4 years. Candi Staton, former disco queen, adds her interpretation, which is outstanding. the voices are perfect crossing each other

  • there r several version of this song over the last 40 yrs, this being my favorite. Great mix of Black & Whie soul with a twist on the original Country. Easy to play by ear but most great sounds are quite simplistic.

  • I love how they reworked Candi's soulful bluesy rendition of Patsy Clne into a dialogue between the cheating heart and the pain of being hurt... beautiful.

  • here after Bob Lefsetz linked it as i imagine many others are. a bit simplistic, repetitive, obvious vamp, but certainly gets the analog warmth and heartfelt, intimate vibe pat. not sure if i'll be listening again any time soon but they do create a great intimate feel.

  • nice grrove, nice voice. a boring song

  • Tried some wine, no need for headphones with my stereo system, so close to being an epic song. Great beat, awsome voice but still don't get it! Just needs alittle more vocals to make a better relationship to real life, unless its just refering to something abstract.

  • Fact : the female vocal wasnt / isnt recorded by a live person --it is purely a sampled track...well done though ! Oh the glorious magic that can be created in the studio, an art in itself. ~

  • this version is best

  • First new thing that's moved me in quite some time.

  • @tmilwaukee

Patsy Cline recorded this a long time ago under the title "He Called me Baby". Candi Staton, Ella Washington and a few others have covered it too. One Eskimo is just the latest. Good cover of it too I think.

  • This is not a cover. It's a totally different song on the same music as "He Called my Baby". A cover is a different version of the same song. This is not it.

  • Why does it have to come to this.... where's the communication between two people that love each other, how do they lose that passion...and then one seeks another's passion.

  • when written so eloquently, it's called art-no judgement in feeling ones lyrics, only appreciation

  • This is awsome couldnt wait to get to it on i tunes. We have all been there, felt this pain. It all comes around eventually we all get called baby again, All night long

  • Great tune, just wish it did repeat so much, maybe more substance

  • I get your point, a little repitious but try to hear it beyond the lyrics-----there are so many layers that weave thru the melody , its the same 'words' but delivered with real authenticity, and IMO its fantastic. Try with headphones and a glass of wine!

  • This shit can't even compare to Radiohead, Nirvana, or The Beatles,

  • thank you captain obvious.

  • can't compare to the garage band in any club. You're right about it being "shit" though.

  • I can feel the pain in his voice when he sings. So much emotion! Amazing! i can't stop listening to this song.

  • U luv this, listen to evryfin else xxxxxx

  • amazing.

  • mystery google told me to listen to you :)

  • oi wow :-*

  • Trace the roots of this song back to the early 60's and be amazed at the changes. This is without a doubt the best version of all with Candi Station's a close 2nd. So much soul in his voice. I learned this in one nite on the guitar and cannot stop playing it.

  • bought their CD and its bloody amazing

  • @randyandy97
