Later they family was compensated 13k USD in 1958 which was about 100k in today's money. It was about what the painting would have been worth then. @baibucix Well actually there was one movie made about soviet war crimes. Called Enemy at the gates it was about crimes against Jewish soviets. And how they needed their own Jewish state to be state. I have to laugh because I Know what you mean. The movie was a chance to talk about the suffering of all soviets, but turned into, how much the Jews suffered.This behavior of "only we matter" is what is making more and more folks angry with the media that refuses to tell other folks stories.

@baibucix No dear I was being sarcastic. It was a WE are the victim movie of the Nazi invasion into Russia, but actually many Jews were prominent in the communist party. I went to high school with several of them who came to the US. (Yes, I am ancient). They were always very well off for being so deprived. You have to watch the movie in order to see how I mean that it does not talk about anyone's misery but the Jews in the Russia Never mind the 40 mil ethnic Russians that died too.

@rosey312 Enemy at the Gates was about the seige of Leningrad and in particular Jude Law's Soviet sniper's confrontation with Ed Harris's Nazi sent to kill him. I think you haver your movies mixed up..

But do you remember Jude Law (whose character was based on the Non Jewish Russian, Zaytsev) and Rachael Wiesz whose character was based on Tanya Chernova, when in a scene that had nothing to do with reality, Rachal said that "My father says that Jews will never be safe until we have a homeland of our own." Perhaps you are are the one confused. They didn't even explore how truly magnificent each of them were.Rent the movie again.

I pity that old guy. I believe he should get back that painting. It is rightfully his as it is owned by his family, and the first guy who collect the painting from the Nazi stole it. Technically, if the Nazi is still alive today, it would be theirs instead but that isn't the case. They fall and thus, the painting should be returned back to the rightful owner. Hope that guy gets his painting back. If I were him I would keep it till the day I die and then arrange it to be sold for charity.

Rightful owner my ass. The Nazis let the Jews leave Europe with ALL their belongings. The reason his family wasn't allowed to take the painting was because the Nazis understood it didn't belong to Jews, it belonged to Europe and the European culture. As soon as I saw the 20 million number I immediately knew why there is a Jew wanting it BADLY. All National Geographic needs is add a little sad song to the narration to immediately convince the sheeple to take the Jew's side. Pathetic.

@faiz434 It was not his painting. It was his grandmother. She sold it so that she could get her family out of harms way. Later they family was compensated 13k USD in 1958 which was about 100k in today's money. It was about what the painting would have been worth then. Who can say that his grandmother would have left it to him over another of her children to be inherited or sold? Whose to say Grandma didn't steal it from someone else or pay them unfairly for it.
