Yeah, Cheung learned for 2-3 years in the 50's...so what?
And in the 70's before he died, he recorded this footage so there would be a record of his Wing Chun as he actually taught it.
When Cheung started telling his goofy stories about "secret training" & "Traditional Wing Chun" it was after Ip died (so Ip couldn't refute him), but he didn't know Ip had recorded this, & he certainly never expected this footage to widely distributed via a technology called the internet.
@Nephronial Well, didn't know I had to do the math, but there was a 20 year span between what Cheung learned and this video. I am not sure what is worse, William Cheung's claims, or the whole world mimicking this video. My point is, we have no idea what was taught in the 50s, only what was filmed shortly before his death. Who can say what is authentic Chum Kiu?
Seriously? We're not talking about Ancient Egypt here. Plenty of people WERE THERE in the 50's, and they're STILL ALIVE.
"Who can say what is authentic Chum Kiu"?
How about ALL of Ip Man's other students?
How about Ip Man? Why do you think he recorded this footage? He did it so there'd be an answer to the question "What is authentic Ip Man Wing Chun Chum Kiu?" The answer is: What he is doing in this film. THAT is authentic Chum Kiu.
don't you realize that William Cheung knows all the modified forms, plus the traditional ones?

Are you basing everything on this video made in the 70s before Yip Man's death?
William Cheung learned in the 50s.
