mutter and her playing its absouloutly the best very fluence open clear and of course the personal haracter this is the most diffucult to play violin like to speak with it i mean that you can understand that anne sophie play without seeing her anne is the best exaple to everyone saying that classic musing its boring you wake up when you listen to her and also is so beautyfull woman she is the violin diva assoluta like maria callas in opera the two divas
Anne-Sophie's playing is superb! Incredible footage here with closeups of her fingerings and unbelievably energetic bowing of the main theme. I miss seeing conductor Seiji Ozawa at Symphony Hall since he left Boston, but it's great to see him here.
This is too fast for me.. The one played by Yehudi Menuhin with Wilhelm Furtwängler and also Perlman-Giulini was much more romantic..In my point of view those two pieces had much more emotion.
i love this rendition!!!!both the soloist and the orchestra are clearly enjoying the music. THE ORCHESTRA IS AWESOME <3 IS THAT BERLINER PHILHARMONIKER?? I LOVE HOW the soloist make the violin sings, with every note crystal clear! and not to mention, this is one of the greatest violin concertii ever! bravo beethoven!!!
Is there any music more cerebral than Beethoven's offerings? Mutter only enhances this conterto by her own mental input. Some have questioned the loud tone of her vilolin. It's her own cerebral input to assure that she reaches the pleroma, the gnostic light above the heavens; the place of all intellectual denouement and fullfilment
@milstein91 It seems to be the propensity of the masses to want to force everyone around them to dumb down. God forbid they should have to work a little harder to improve their own shortcomings.
@bernard1422 Not 'LOUD' but 'PROJECTING'... a great difference! After all, she plays a Strad, and nobody could describe one of his instruments with the adjective 'LOUD'.
Beethoven, Anne Sophie, and ofcourse Seiji. What else could you want/

Mesmerizing - Berlin Phil with Ozawa in Vienna's superb concert hall and Mutter as soloist. It could only get better if I had been there!

Interesting to compare this performance of Mutter & Ozawa with their performance done in 1989 (see the related videos on the right).

How fantastic it is! I love this interpretation by Mutter and Ozawa.
It's so ramantically Romantic. I know some people don't like this,
but I do love it very much!

I am very happy to see this because both conductor (Seiji Ozawa) and concert-master(Toru Yasunaga) are Japanese!
but why the Berlin Philharmonie plays in the Wiener Philharmonie's hall?
