brilliant - i blew the sound chip on my c64 and then lost all the fiels and eventually the cassette audi taoppe with the recordings on got crapped on...
@BabylonWhore666@BabylonWhore666 your cassette situation sounds a lot like gearslutz _ com/board/rap-hip-hop-engineering-production/185159-somebody-sh-ed-my-mpc3000.html
Commodore machines and their emulations can be used to create some fantastically sophisticated and unique soundtracks. And this miracle of uniqueness doesn't have to cost much or anything at all.
Free VSTi and the likes of the MSSIAH can do the job for a fraction of the cost of new whizzo software.

MSSIAH/Prophet64 is by far the easiest for beginners. But if you've worked with trackers like FastTracker, you may be able to pick up on some of the other C64 music suites. I recommend starting out with is GoatTracker, which is free, and has an excellent community, or find a native tracker somewhere else- there are tons, you'll find one.
I use plugin VST c64 pro and dr Sid in Fruity Loops. I used this plugins only in mix music, bocause originally Sid music composing in tracker (3 channel).
The SID chip does produce some awesome music. The Pokey chip from the Atari 8-bit computers does a good job too. ^.^ I'm trying to find a composer for the Commodore 64 emulator, but most of the ones I found are really complicated and never seem to have a help file included when you need it. I tried Goattracker, but you have to program the instruments yourself. Some of the music composers, though, don't have a very good set of drums and effects. Any suggestions? Great video btw.
You can't combine a 6581 and a 8580 without voltage regulators, but it CAN be done.
The SID2SID board on the Prophet64 website let's you add any SID of the same type as already inside your C64. And what's even nicer, if you have a broken/spare C64, you hardly have to buy any components.
Oh my goodness, this is so cool!! O_o I love it!

Try starting out by loading an existing tune, clearing the tracks and playing with the instruments that were made for that tune.

how do you get a C64 with 'duel sids' - ie 2 x SID chips ?
