  • if this is violent then the world sure is peaceful place.

  • @Marius2000 - well said.

  • I visited London that day..went to see a show in the west end :) i woukd of much rather been taking part in this protest! Looked great fun! :D x

  • @shannonskyringx - it was fun, got to meet loads of great people who are smarter than the government thinks and will come out in even greater numbers if something radical is not done.

  • ‎"We are still here! tonight let us send a message to that army! Let us shake this cave! Tonight let us tremble these walls of earth, steel and stone! Let us be heard from red core to black sky! Tonight let us make them remember this is Zion and we are not afraid!"

    Drumbeats, savage dance follows!

  • Why does nobody ask who we owe the debt too ?...........Its never raised on the media ........i find it strange that figures are thrown about claiming we are two trillion in debt yet nobody in the street has a clue who we owe it too...........The only way it makes sense is if the BOE is a private entity masquerading as a 'National' bank ........just like Americas Federal Reserve and we are all being mugged off.

  • Good to see Blazing Squad still exist - aloft the lions at 2:50.

    Tossers...

  • cuts not war- yes! I think you'll find thats where all the public money has been spent- on the military and funnelled into bankers and criminal front accounts in the Cayman Islands.

  • You weren't protesting against cuts.

You were actually protesting in favour of more debt, for your children & grandchildren's generations to pay back, to finance irresponsibly high levels of public spending now. Shameful.

  • @globalroof - Well, if you look at the issue more closely, you realise that people are not expecting money for nothing, they are saying that the economic crises benefited the banks and corporations, many of whom avoid paying their taxes.

  • @globalroof open your fuckin eyes morron.Read a single newspaper about whats goin' on with thsi fake crisis. In greece we r fucked up economically and we work more hours per week than u and germans .Its just economic terrorism from golden sachs and other globar-"monsters" who think they own the whole world..fuck that.Sleep tight

  • How many people were there??

  • 500,000, maybe more.

  • Thanks for posting the vid. American mainstream media appears to be suppressing this significant event. I went to ABC news and NBC news websites on the Monday following the protest, and not a mention. Yahoo news also has not given this story any attention. I think the powers that be are afraid of revealing this story because they think what happened in the Middle East could spread to the West.

  • @lukeorb That is so true. Even in the UK they did not cover the protest like they did with previous ones. However the trouble in Libya and the disaster in Japan have been on the news 24/7. It's a matter of when for the UK, this year will be mad!

  • @Dr23rippa fookin soap dodgers

  • @chiltern4 - haha, it was "soap dodgers" that helped lead the civil rights revolution in America. ;)

  • The youtube affiliated blog called "citizentube" linked to this video as an example of how the protests turned "destructive". It might just be me, but I didn't see any "destruction" going on.

  • @SteelCityEcologist - No destruction, just celebration of coming together. There was some violence, but for a march of 500,000 people, it was largely peaceful. Just have a look at footage from French protests, burning cars, etc.

  • Every time I see government employees demanding that we bring down the government or state-dependents demanding that we "smash the state", I know that the country is unravelling as predicted.

The cuts are a hoax anyway - the only thing that is being cut is the rate of increase in public spending.

  • it's wonderful to see people who don't just sit on their sofa and criticize government action but are willing to use their power to change their country

  • Stay strong Britons, governments are nothing in the face of People Power - half a million on the streets of London last Saturday is the beginning of something big.

  • Pardon my ignorance, but what is actually going on? What exactly are these people protesting against? Thanks.

  • @ilovejackman - Thank you for our question. The protest was organized by the TUC, a labour union which organized the event; however, people who object to everything from the dramatic cuts the government is making to public services to raised tuition fees to banks not paying their taxes came to London to express how fed up they are over the way the government is handling the economic crises in Britain. Mostly, however, it was a solidarity movement to show that the people of Britain are united.

  • 1:36

  • bunch of excited chimps

  • @RichyDYupYup - It might seem that way, but the people are caught up in the moment. Democracy and the right to protest is a wonderful thing and brings out the "chimp" in all of us. ;)

  • @TheDennischapman Hehe, well that's all fine. I just see things too simply sometimes.

  • thank you...from an independent journalist in Greece.

  • @kikicrete - You are very welcome, thank you for your comment!

  • This is pertinent footage which evinces a different 26 March 20011 demo that contrariwise (perhaps) portrays a more 'theatrical demand' (not to be overly dismissed) even if demonstrably illegal with 'crack-a-jacks' and such, nevertheless, sees an enormously entertaining anti-Cameron/Clegg government.
