Haha. Do we look like retarded? We were definitely fish out of water during our weeks in India. Somehow even though we were with friends who were explaining it to us, we never quite understood that "chat" was a generic term kind of like "snack". So we left thinking we didn't like chat. We didn't really like anything that day, though we ate and enjoyed plenty of Indian food while we were over there staying with various friends. Certainly weren't making fun of anyone, just having fun.
