Lighting one of my old Carbide bicycle lamp

Yea on all the pre 16 cars' they had the gas headlamp's and you could hear the gas burning in the body.

neat to look at and good white light but

could be dangerous to use, and messy to clean up afterward's in the carbide can.

they are very nice lamps, great to see them lighting up, i have a few of them also and never knew about the carbide from the flower shop i will have to visit the flower shop tomorrow, i hope my misses dosen't see this lol. thanks for sharing, cheers.

That is one really classy lamp you got there! I use a 7w LED flashlight nowadays for my headlight.

@junits15 absolutely , Ive been a big admirer of the early brass autos' for yrs,

things were more machanical back then,

and were neat to see how thing's would work,

but in the last 60 yrs,

things are more sealed or automatic in function.

and alot simpler to deal with.

Early cars also had carbide lamps. The little brass tank on the out side of some ford model t are carbide gas generators. That is the first time I've ever see one lit.
