Early cars also had carbide lamps. The little brass tank on the out side of some ford model t are carbide gas generators. That is the first time I've ever see one lit.
Yea on all the pre 16 cars' they had the gas headlamp's and you could hear the gas burning in the body.
neat to look at and good white light but
could be dangerous to use, and messy to clean up afterward's in the carbide can.

That is one really classy lamp you got there! I use a 7w LED flashlight nowadays for my headlight.

@junits15 absolutely , Ive been a big admirer of the early brass autos' for yrs,
things were more machanical back then,
and were neat to see how thing's would work,
but in the last 60 yrs,
things are more sealed or automatic in function.
and alot simpler to deal with.
