Hats Off to all of the mid & lower-echelon members of SAC over its 46 year history. Those were the superbly-trained personnel who propped up the whole command. The mainstay SAC leader during that time, Gen Curtis LeMay, was a bit too much of a gung-ho hawk, however .. too close-minded for his own good.
Strategic Air Command was a very professional command, we made sure we were ready to strike any nation that might attempt to strike the United States. i served with the 92d Security Police Squadron at Fairchild Air Force Base from December of 1977 to June of 1982. I am proud to have served with SAC.
