  • Section 8 at least for these people. Please

  • We have the same problem here in the UK too; a significant number of homeless on our streets are veterans. There is hope, we have a good charity being set up which is dedicated to caring for homeless ex-servicemen, but many don't know the charity exists, or feel they are beyond help. All I can say, if any servicemen subjected to homelessness or PTSD are reading this, is that you are never beyond help.

  • I cried with you...

I can't imagine the sense of betrayal that these brave men and women have had to endure and are currently facing. It is unspeakable that there are not enough services and means of support to help them make it and be successful even when they return.

  • 1.2 trillion dollars wars

post deployment budget is not include in 1.2 trillion only 620 billion spends over diseased and injured soldiers.

Billion dollars Private security contractor also out of war cost.

Zionista and Bankers ruling ,super power America has collapsed.

  • @ stephenswickedcoo- Are you serious? They do not get "so much money when they deploy....they are given a decent wage, but also have to still pay for everything they left behind, i.e. car, rent, child support, etc. They get back and have to find a job or are returned to their job and, given that the position is probably filled, their hours may have been reduced, they have to wait forever for the mental and emotional help they need. There is so much more, your callousness is disgusting-SHAMEFUL

  • I have seen it, I have lived it! It was a pleasure serving with you Noel! I remember when people at the CAV were laughing when they found out that you were making a movie about our struggles! well, now you have the last laugh, thanks for exposing the condition and situation of so many vets, we all thank you!

  • Thank You for your Service, I am sooo sorry for all the stuggles you have gone through,. Our Vet's are treated like sh*t and those who isn't personally affected simply do not understand. Hopefully your documentary will raise the awarness that is so needed. I saw the full version about 2 weeks ago on hulu and i appreciate your continued fight for what is right and speaking up in order to help fellow Vets that share the same stuggles as you, and I know there is Thousands of them.

  • Are you fucking kidding me... I'm sorry but seriously, they give you so much money when you go into the military, they have open therapy and whatever medical care you need readily available... You say we don't treat vets right... I agree we used to not treat them properly, but I have 3 vets in the family, and a few friends. They are all extremely well taken care of monetarily, AND therapeutically... so seriously, stfu.

  • Im sorry but i beg to differ with your comment. those that you know and are speaking about must be some of the lucky ones,. So many fall through the cracks. There was a soldier who begged to talk to a cousler becuz he was suicidal but was told to wait 3 weeks for an appointment, guess what he blew his head off 3 days before his appointment. Guess what I could tell you about more stories like this but I am only allowed to type so much. I seriously advise you 2 educate beyond your 3 friends !!!

  • That's the United States Government for you.. :(

  • This makes me sick....I acutally stopped eating...... No joke, this is awful, how can they be used, abused then tossed aside like a peice of shit? I just wish there was something that could be done about this. Because these military vets deserve so much better.

  • i agree, this is just so sickening.

The government has NO right to talk about how great the soldiers are when they don't give a shit about them. Politicians are lying greedy corrupt fucks and thats all there is to it.

oh and LegendOfJomtein, you can help, check out the website. it gives you links and info on how to help.

  • this is disgusting, there is no respect any more.used then abused.mad and sad world...........

  • Many have psychologically debilitating conditions and nearly hidden traumatic brain injuries which will permanently devastate their ability to work and to provide properly for themselves. Not all of them receive recognition and compensation for these injuries. Not all are honorably discharged after they develop these conditions.

  • very sad. It reminds me of the movie "Dead Presidents" except this ain't no movie....

  • Don't even think this war in Iraq has anything to do with freedom or protecting it. Iraq was never even close to threat. Its American imperialism at its worst, its about helping the people who bought your power. If you really want to know whats going on follow the money. Be an American for once and question the world around you, don't be flag waving redneck supporting the deaths of our brothers and sisters at arms. They deserve better, they deserve TRUTH, not LIES!

  • You can not support the troops without supporting their cause!!!They are fighting for our freedom and all you people do is talk nonsense. I do believe that if we could have peace with this country we would. But a majority of them hate Americans and anyone who says they can make peace happen is lying!!! U can not force a country to want peace just because you want it.How do u know that our troops won't be fighting in our streets if you bring them home? Who can guarantee that?

  • Don't even think this war in Iraq has anything to do with freedom or protecting it. Iraq was never even close to threat. • But are you supporting the troops? How much money have you donated to organizations helping veterans? How much time have you donated to helping veterans in VA Hospitals, or those coming home who need help readjusting? If you truly support the troops, walk your talk! I have donated money to our local National Guard unit. My company regularly donates our services to returning combat veterans--donates and THANKS them. What are you doing?

  • support our troops, not the war.

  • My heart breaks for the men and women who have given sooooo much for our country and what have we done for them. The system is broken my friends. So when you see a homeless vet give all you have. I wish we could see our veterans with smiles on their faces instead the look of homelessness. If all I have is 5 bucks to my name it is yours American Veterans. Please do not give up hope. I pray for the safety of all American Veterans.

  • Ron Paul will support our vets and bring our troops home!

    Ron Paul 2008

  • yeah, but will he help the troops while they are home so they won't end up being homeless?

  • What I intended to say was: although this war in Iraq is a frivolous use of our troops and is lining Cheney's and Halliburton's pockets, we sent those troops off under U.S. auspices, and as such, we owe them our gratitude....

  • Hoorah

  • 25% to 33% of all homeless are vets. We should take care of those who risked life and limb to fight for our freedoms. Although Halliburton's pockets, we sent those kids off and when they come home we should show our gratitude. I was appalled to learn there are Vietnam vets who have been on the streets now for over 30 years, and there are some WW2 vets who are out on the streets, too. A national tragedy. Instead of slapping a magnet on your SUV, do something to help our homeless vets.

  • My little brother is a veteran, and I pray for him that he doesn't have to look at shit like this. You priveleged assholes have no idea what it is to be sent off to war, because you're poor and it's your only way out. You don't come back sane from a warzone, no one wants to hire you because you're crazy, and your government has forsaken you. You should all be ashamed.

  • Get a technical rating/MOS by paying attention in school and acing your ASVAB instead of saying one day "oh, sweet, free food and housing in the military, I'll sign up!" Driving a tank is cool, and being an infantryman is one of the necessary jobs that I completely respect, but honestly, WHAT JOB did you think you would have in the civilian world for your skill set? Pilots, maintenance, even the crappy administration ratings/MOSs will transfer into the real world.

  • Some of these comments are appalling. No one is looking for a handout, just a hand up. Many of us were not able to stay in the military or were unwilling to be thugs for hire for a regime of megalomaniacs.

We were promised skills that would get us jobs, health care and college educations. We did our part trudging off to the sand. The government has not lived up to theres.

  • people-just joining does not get you a house . you have to stay in to keep getting paid . i had a job before going in the army and i have one now . i get sick and tired of people thinking everything should be given to them , so get a job or reup your choice but i and we owe you nothing

  • So you're saying that if a soldier went overseas, fought harder than any life-long civillian ever would think, and watched as his friends and comrades died, if he had gone through an ordeal like no other for YOU civillians, that you would owe him nothing? That if he was shot and wounded, burnt, or even in some cases have limbs blown off, that you would not help him? You sir, are a disgrace to the armed services and I hope to never see you in them again.

  • I would never want to go to war, But I would never leave a soldier behind even if I wasn't one myself. As long as they protect me I will do the same.

  • i dont know the whole story here but what i do know is if this guy was really a soldier then he would have the common sense to get a job and not cry about it. this guy makes the rest of us soldiers look bad.

  • This man, a soldier, went through hell. He fought on as his friends died, as he was shot at. This man has gone through an ordeal, the likes that no life-long civillian can ever understand and you expect him to be able to get off that plane to a country where he no longer has a shelter and immediately be able to take care of himself? He probably has Post Tramatic Stress Disorder and can't go through a day without seeing the faces of his dead comrades in his mind. You make other soldiers look bad.

  • yes

  • Can`t you see what a Coverent you have?

  • what's a coverent?

  • dan, this is a great documentary, glad you're here sharing it on youtube.

    this is supporting the troops.

  • Dan - big ups for doing something positive and making a difference while our adminstration continues to sleep.

  • Toby - according to the VA there are currently 600 veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan who are now homeless. And yes, perhaps many of them grew up in poverty and joined the military as a way out -

All im saying is - no matter where these young soldiers come from, they should be taken care of when they come back from war. Dont you agree?

  • I can't help but wonder what this guy's socio-economic status was BEFORE he went to Iraq. Are we all buying into a "victim" mentality by blaming Iraq on this vet's misery without knowing all the facts? I want to see the movie to learn more about this person, and maybe that is the intent of the producers of this trailer to begin with.

  • regardless of what his socio-ec status was before he enlisted, it is undeniable that recruiters insist socio ec. status will be better after enlisting.

  • hoping I dont end up in that situation in 2 months when I finally get out. Buts its looking possible.

  • Jade - let me know when you get out - ive met some people along the way that can help - thanks for serving our country - Dan

  • I've been a Republican all my life. I'm voting against my party to say enough Bush. Every fact points that he's a lying corporate puppet devil cocksucking facist, not one fact to the opposite. how far up your ass does this guys dick have to go before you realize he's fucking you? People are like "I love Bush. He's patriotic, strong and a good Christian war president...oh hold it, wait a sec...somethings slapping my ass... OH MY GOD HE'S FUCKING ME!!

  • Strong message. Although taking care of our veterans has been a low priority for both parties for some time now. It's something that we need to take care of on the Senate & House levels. It is not something to blame a president for otherwise we would have to start blaming presidents all the way back to when the military was founded.

  • Sorry, but as a veteran I do blame Bush, I blame him for sending troops into an unnecessary war while doing it on the cheep. For spouting "Support the troops" and than leaving them high and dry to face yet even more budget cuts. Support our troops by using them wisely, and not making cuts to the V.A.

  • Don't be sorry; you're correct.

  • I agree with you fully. I don't disagree with the fact that Bush, not unlike many presidents before him have tossed aside the military veterans after they have given their life, limb, or family. There needs to be something done about it. It will take veterans and it will take people in the senate and house (most likely veterans themselves) to take a stand for those forgotten and discarded. I am a vet myself so I don't speak with an unfamiliar tongue.
