The ad campaign ran in Mexico only. I'm sure they never expected this to reach the US, as if they forgot there's such a thing as the internet. I personally believe it was a deliberate campaign for those in Mexico appealing to their "sentiments." There's a strong belief in Mexico that the SW US should be returned to Mexico based on a whole bunch of historical inaccuracies taught school kids in Mexico that pervades the whole culture. There's better vodkas out there that are not so expensive.

Really? And Mexico did not steal the land from Native Americans? If you want to go far back in history, there won't find one nation that held its land since the beginning of humanity. The facts: Mexico controlled the land that now comprises the the SW US for just over 20 years (from succession from Spain until the 1848 war with the US). At that time, American settlers outnumbered Spanish/Mexican settlers in all these lands by ratios of 5-to-1, even 10-to-1 in some parts.

Spain's initial claim to these lands came from a Papal proclaimation back in the 1500's, which was of dubious legality in the first place. Point is, Mexico has less legitimate historical claim to the land than the US does. Learn your history. You're merely spouting out talking points from the open borders crowd.

ChrisB - If you ever want to see real hate and racial prejudice, check out open borders groups groups like Mecha and Mexica Movement. I've seen first hand Americans being insulted for their skin color (whites, Hispanics and African-Americans) by the open borders crowd because they were standing up for American jobs and rule of law. betochon - No it's not just a map. The only motivation for Absolut was to play on current popular sentiment among those in Mexico re the SW U.S. being reconquered and becoming part of Mexico. Surveys of Mexican citizens have shown over half believe the SW U.S. should belong to Mexico. Kudos to FIRE Coalition. A few years ago there was a spanish language radio station that put up billboards stating L.A. was now in Mexico, not the U.S. This is one of those consequences of leaving our borders wide open - we now have millions of illegals that actually believe much of the U.S. belongs to them and they get angry when the federal government does anything (never that much) to secure the borders and return illegals to their home countries.
