I moved from a MacBook to a Lenovo about a month ago, and I'm just now experimenting with the TrackPoint. It feels really awkward at the moment. What is the learning curve like, and does anyone have any quality tips for using it? My index finger stiffens up quite quickly, which makes it that much more difficult.
@teezhay Learning curve is pretty brutal, but it's definitely worth it. Especially if you're a gamer. (I find it amazing for FPS games) Using a Lenovo W510 here, btw.
TrackPoint: when you get used to it you could never move back to touchpad or mouse. the pointer control is far better with it. (just one of the advantages)
TP made me improve my minesweeper records after about 5 years... I just love that thing, on every normal keyboard I try to reach it and have to remind myself its not there. You´re actually faster for you dont have to move your hand away from the keys. Games are no problem, too. And a small hint for all those who say it´s too inaccurate: you can adjust the response speed...
I got hooked on the trackpoint after my first IBM laptop. After ignoring it for so long and using the touchpad, I finally decided to give it a go, and it was like a breath of fresh air, no more rubbing my fingers bare over a hot, rough plate! Complete cursor control at the slight move of a finger!
When I stopped using the laptop, I was so used to it I had to buy a trackpoint IV keyboard. It served me well until recently when the trackpoint died.. :(

touch pads are beter and can you make a video of you using the touchscreen fonctions plzz, i've been looking for a video with someone using the touchscreen but not much found.
Also, it's a matter of personal preferance as to which pointing device you prefer to use, unless you have an X-series thinkpad, in which case, it's either the trackpoint or an external mouse.
nope trackpoint is better touchpads are as useless as a dvd rewinder try playing a fps game with track point and then with touchpad and you will see the difference you can actually shoot people with the trackpoint in an fps unlike tuchpad
ok, wth...touchpads are easyer to control than a trackpoint, you have more freedome woth a touchpad and i've used a trackpoint, i have one on my old 98 laptop and i dont use it because it sucks compared to anything ells.
I know why that is. Of course a 98 laptop with track point isn't gonna work very well. Before judging the track point any further, you should try out the latest ones with improved technology that make it easier to use.
i know have a hp pavillion tx 2500 tablet and a toshiba satilite computer with a trackpoint AND IS VISTA so it's brand new, i know the frekin tecnolegy and it sucks:. i dont even need a trakpad anyways, i can just use my digitizer pen BEAATCH
so basically what you are trying to say is that you are a nOOb and don't know how to use a computer and that is why you have a pen. We call people like that, technologically impaired :D. Its okay though, I didn't say they are bad.
im sory, havent i explaind that i am a computer repair specialist and i know more than you ever will. Im just wealth enuf too own a tablet computer that uses a digitazer pen. i didn't say anything about not nowing how to use a computer. BEAATCH
A computer repair specialist? And you like Yugioh? Wow what a load of bullshit. Go home and watch your children's anime you troll and leave this amazing technology to the grownups.
Would you all LEAVE ME ALONE. You nothing about me so you can not judge me, if you don't believe me profession you can come to my house and ill personally kick all you're asses.
Keep telling yourselves that...

@RescGT777
From what I have read in the past, what you are experiencing is the trackpoint recalibrating itself.
If you are trying to use the trackpoint while it is recalibrating, it will just fight against you.
So, whenever you start to see the pointer trying to fight you, just stop pushing on the trackpoint for a second.

Either the eraser head isn't properly sitting on the keyboard, or your settings arent right.

This isn't the tablet... i.e. no touchscreen.
