  • Reminds of Schumann's Traumerai somewhat.

  • I thought Busoni nicknamed the etudes. Anyway, why hasn't anyone commented for the last two years??

  • Liszt nicknamed this one "Landscape".

  • Howard is good here. I love the rubatos and the sound he generates (although the sound might actually be some unintentional effect from recording technology).

  • lol ur name sounds like mine wooooo

  • isn't this particular piece easier than its Transcendental counterpart?

  • actually the grandes etudes are technically more challenging than their later counterparts (the transcendental etudes). what distinguishes this particular piece is a full development of the theme that for some reason does not appear in the later transcentendal version. he just transcended it i guess.

    ;-)

  • I know the most of GEs are technically more challenging than TEs. With that in mind, I was asking if this "particular" piece is harder than its Transcendental version. I didn't really know about the agitated middle section when I asked that question. By the way, the TE of Mazeppa is harder than it's GE version, as you know.

  • It's kind of the other way around. :P
