  • by far the most helpful and to the point video, and she didnt try to get me to buy anything. i love this lady hahaha

  • It would depend on the composition of the wall board itself. There are several different types. Some are more resilient against water saturation than others. You dry removing paper from real cheap drywall by spraying it down completely and you will possibly be replacing the drywall as well. Especially the early non gypsum drywall board made in the 60's that has a flat basecoat. I would test an area first before going all out and spraying your walls with detergent. Steaming has it's advantages.

  • Thats OK but here is an easier way for this type of paper, Peel off the top layer of paper, next get an empty spray bottle from around your home, then fill it with diluted (1 part detergent 10 parts water) dish washing detergent, finally, spray the remaining exposed under paper until it is saturated, wait 20-30 SECONDS NOT MINUTES and then peel, it will almost fall off the wall. The up side of this method is, no steamer rental, no wall punching tool, all products are in your home, you save $

  • New DIY paint and wallpaper tools:wall shuttle

  • Nope not ready. Have to sand next.

  • im cute

  • hot water and a little dawn dishwashing soap works the best .....you don't need any of these tools...especially the scoring tool. just spray and soak. don't score.

  • That's what I always thought, until in my new house I discovered wallpaper from the 1940's. I don't know if it's because of the adhesive used in those days, or the fact that the wallpaper has been there for 60+ years, but soaking the wallpaper wasn't enough. I needed a steamer.

  • Big help!

  • Wallpaper should be Illegal!

  • I agree!

  • @Focus1964

    LAWL!

    XD

  • Good video, but I kind of liked the original wall paper.

  • great tips! the striped wall paper was horrendous. the one underneath, not so bad. but im glad you can now paper you walls with a pattern that suits your taste.

  • Thanks Karen!

  • The steamer works great!

  • i cant believe u wood go through all this have you ever heard of spray n strip hello people

  • After you strip the last layer of wallpaper, you MUST remove ALL the glue residue BEFORE you prime and that process is VERY messy and creates a lot of water - you forgot to tell everyone to protect the floors and all other surfaces with visqueen before you start rinsing because it WILL be a big mess. Nice vid though, just seems that you made it look far easier than it really is. If you DO NOT rinse off all the remaining adhesive before prming, you are asking for trouble later....trust me

  • thanks

  • Love this video, will be an avid follower for DIY around the house, thanks!

  • GOOD JOB LADY ! QUICK & NEAT....

  • Steamer is not a must. Sand the paper with 36 to 50 grit sandpaper and wet twice with hot solvent and water based household degreaser for 5 minutes each time and the paper will loosen just as fast as a messy steamer

  • Good little vid!
