  • I winder what the real David Watts is doing today..

  • ein? y porque te sale lo de The who???

  • i dont like the van halen version.

    Kinks rule:)

  • esta cancion es buenisima para empezar el dia

  • Fa-fa-fa-fa-fa-faaaa

  • i reckon the Kinks had a profound effect on the development of Jim Morrison and

the Doors, asv well as a few hundred other bands, including "the cream"

  • limboquixote...The Kinks INVENTED heavy mate! They are the Daddys of heavy. Their intro power chords represent the 'big bang' of heavy!!!!!

  • @ledzeppelinll u fucked up ur own life m8 ;)

  • @ledzeppelinll I prefer the version of the kinks XD

  • The classic has stood test of time They sliced the speakers with razor blades in order to get that sound. The Kinks are one of the best rock bands ever.

  • Bonjour, vous aimez les sixties ? écoutez et podcastez mon émission "le super son des 60's" sur le site de plumfm. You like the 60's ? please, listen and podcast my broadcast "le super son des 60's", connect to "plumfm". Salut et faites gaffe au rock and roll.

  • That is one of my favourite songs ever and they just slaughtered it yesterday on X factor. Belle Amie should buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurn!

  • sandi shaw

  • The Kinks were so far ahead of their time and everyone else they put most bands of that era to shame.

  • 117,551 person to watch it

  • not punks....! mods, like the small faces, the high number etc etc! wicked band!

  • yeahhh!! thiss rockkk!

  • great drummer

  • this is better than few of beatles songs! harder sound

  • The Beatles snuck around their equipment trying to figure how they got this sound--and at some gigs didn't want to go onstage after them.

  • I doubt that man.

  • @stpierreorama

Both parts are well documented. Two young bands doing new things. Who'd want to follow that song in 1964? No one sane.

  • @CapsaicinHat

    Wow!

    An information bomb!

  • =) Me encanta esta canción!

  • THIS IS THE BEST VERSION OF THIS VIDEO- the sound ROCKS!

  • Comment removed

  • my two favorite songs by them. Oh yeah and Everybody's A Star is pretty awesome too :)

  • i don't know how anyone can compare the original with The Jam's version. both 2 totally separate entities. both are fantastic in their own right.

  • Yeah but this version owns

  • too bad im omly 11 now all i can do is watch video clips of my favorite band. :(

  • prefer the jam's version of david watts, more energy/passion.

don't castrate me kinks fans!! i'm one too! :D

  • no, the piano and Avory's beat and of course Ray's elegant voice make it superior, and I love the Jam too!!!

  • blah

  • i was born at 90's but i grow up in 60's thx mom and dad :P !!!!!!

  • ME TOO!

  • nc man !! it was the best age i think :)

  • it definetly was the best age. now all the music is awful and everything is regulated, so anybody with talent is kept down and oppressed. its sad, but at least we still have our albums! lol

  • u R absolutely right dude !!! i agree.....

  • thanks, so do I! Friend or subscribe me please.

  • in the battle between the mods and rockers i guess you could consider them mods which really put a lot of brits off

  • My A-level history teacher was called David Watts...

  • @Kagemusha22 epic win? LOL

  • que buen tema!!..le doy cinco estrellas jeje...!

  • Is it true that it's Jimmy Page on the led solo...?

  • Ha the led solo - I meant the LEAD solo - that was a freudian slip if ever...

  • hello OIWATCHYALOOKINAT am new..tried to send you happy jack by the who. for harmonies and my fav drumsolo in my life so far,...me so new couldn't find address

  • their from london....neanderthals more like malchiks oh my droogs,,,,,goes for hollies as well...oh just read X-RAY

  • what goes for the hollies as well

  • The Guy earlier mentioned the Creation, I've got a couple of their songs on 45", but listerning to the Kinks compared to the Jam's David Watts, they are totally different, refined to raw power?????

  • Such a ledge band!

  • david watts - the jam?

  • the jam do a cover of this song servetakid

  • The Kinks were well ahead of their time, look at "Dead End Street" and tell me Oasis were not heavily influenced by that song to write "Importance of Being Idol". The video is even copied too! Love the Kinks, David Watts is such a great example of catchy vocal lines!

  • Well those Manc neanderthals are hardly known for their originality are they???

  • punk rock!

  • david watts shows the real genius of the 60s was davies

  • my dad is the actual david Watts random i know

  • <3 yeaaa!

  • defffooooooo better than the beatles any day there songs are pure class and have such a great meaning behind them

  • For a moment in 1964 they were better than the Beatles!

  • I heard this is the first distortion song ever. Is this true?

  • no it's not true

  • thats cool, who did?

  • Link Wray made the first distortion song and invented the power chords in 1958 in his instrumental "Rumble". He used there power chords not just on the E and A strings but also on the others. But "you really got me " is far better.

  • Nice video... Best of the garage classics.. Song used to blast thru two speakers in my '59 chevy. This song will live FOREVER!

  • For the mid sixties, the Kinks were pretty damn heavy.

  • Yeah you're right, but there were alot of garage bands around that time who were'nt as well known, you should check out the pretty things, the creation and the small faces if you like this

  • doin this for 60's show

  • lol red ..we just get carried away..thanks for the vid ,absolutely smashing..Ps i really do love my babes ,she reigns on me..lol.

  • My gorgeous babe has got me....lov ya sweetheart!!!..xx

  • love you back loads sean, I can't wait to spend the rest of our lives together xx

  • Oi! You 2 Are Putting me Of Me Music LOL!!!

I'l Chuck A Bucket Of Cold Water On the Pair of Ya...

  • really rock !!

  • im gonna get my guitar and play this to my girlfriend!

  • Well I´m a fan of the kinks and I´m a fan of The Jam. The original David Watts is excellent and the Jam version was very nicely updated, so for me there is not much discussion :)

  • This video just shows how infuencial the Kinks are: A classic heavy metal song followed by what is now a well known punk song

  • you tit, heavy metal and punk?

do you have any fucking idea at all?

Both are very mod, not once does it sound in the least... metal, or punk, punk is more edgy and up-tempo.. metal is metal you fuckin twat LOLOLOLOLOLOL

  • You really got me is based around power chords and was one of the first popular songs to use distortion.

Both of these were influential on later metal bands such as Black Sabbath

  • The Kinks were of the most influential bands of the British Invasion (or of all time).

The lyrics of Kinks' songs have true and important meanings. Verry better than Beatles!!!!

  • are you kidding? i hope so.

  • i like your humour.

the Jam - derivative, uninspired drivel, only beaten by Oasis for ripping off genuinely talented people.

  • and Oasis even ripped of the Fraternal feud!

    ; )

  • come on hoggo, the Jam did plenty of original stuff...and Wellers lyrics are genius

  • Indeed my friend.

  • realmente es buena de cojoness, ..

es cancion para ligar si o si con una chica

  • David Watts-Underrated, classic Kinks

  • David Watts is on Something Else, a true classic Kinks album. We all the know the golden boy syndrome we all know a David Watts. That's what makes Ray stand out he notices and annotates the ordinary in an extraordinary way. Frechielcfc you're right but of modern bands check out my mates GOLDBLADE and their new single Jukebox Generation...it's on YouTube.

  • when people say the sixties is dead i say the legacy still lives on because of the animals, the kinks, and other music wich was influeced by those great band such as the jam the who the clash manfred man

  • Sanjaya made a mockery of this song and of the kinks.

  • Proper music with proper words... and not a hoe in sight! lol

  • kinks: under rated and under appreciated...god save the kinks

  • I agree but I think part of the problem was the production on their early albums, which was really bad. I imagine if they worked with someone like George Martin they would have left a greater legacy.

  • The left the greatest legacy of all time, since they are the greatest rock band ever, in my

    humble opinion.

  • im only 18 but have been listening to bands like the kinks since i was born because my dad would constantly have it on in the house and other old music from a bit after the kinks like the jam and the clash, i think modern music is fucking shit compared to what it was back then.its all fucking people singing about shit and x factor winners or fucking rappers. apart from pete doherty who i think is a genius and the libertines and babyshambles are one of few bands that keep the punk feeling alive

  • okay i agree with everything you just said

  • I totally agree..good to see someone so young could apreciate music of this genre...like I tell everyone, all artists nowadays sing about is bling and how many women they can get..you're a breath of fresh air..shows not all young people are clueless.

  • Yeah I hear you man, Right on!

  • i agree with all you say, apart from the fact that truth be told, i think mr. doherty is the worst excuse for a man and a failure as a front man.... just my opinion though lol

  • my new favorite band!!

  • New for u, but old for me! (lol)...

    My favorite vintage band!

  • Wot uuver baand cowld make such ann impaact from norrf Lundun across da world! Norrf forever!

  • extraordinary song , great guitar

    la amo

  • The Kinks, the first true punk band. Banned from performing in the US for 4 years from 1965 to 1969 for being too rowdy on stage. Not even the Sex Pistols had that honor.

  • yeah i agree. the kinks & the who.

  • @Edhallick LOL...they weren't punks.........they were Mods 100%

  • @Edhallick The stooges probably had that honour too.

The Kinks never poured hot candle wax on they're chests, but they were very crazy.

  • I'd love to see more Kinks with actual video.

Where do people find this stuff to post in the first place?

Thanks to red777one, alias The Scarlet Pimpernel.

  • Great songs and video. Thanks for posting it!!!! 8-)

  • i like this song its better than waterloo sunset

  • I think they mention this in the Kink Kronikles album liner notes....the drumming on David Watts sounds a lot like Charlie Watts of the Roling Stones...nice touch!

  • I agree... in fact tha song allways reminds me «Let Spend The Night Together»..

  • Hell yeah, I wish my name was David Watts OOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

  • David Watts es un ejemplo de como la sencilles se puede transformar en arte.......Magnifico!!!

  • TOP TRACKK .. NEED MY SCOOTER BACK LOL
