  • THAT SHIT CRAY!

  • crayfish need to constantly flex their joints after molting, so the joints don't harden and immobilize their legs, antennae, eyes, gills, etc. That's why he keeps rolling over and bending his legs. They keep doing it until the shell hardens enough. If he didn't do this, he would be all stiff after using Harden.

  • push push the baby is almost ou-... oh you just molted. heres the bill. have a nice day!

  • It would have been easier for it if you had gravels in the tank. it shouldn't take that long, it seems hard work.

  • did the crayfish masturbate too hard

  • that looks uncomfortable

  • what do crayfish eat in general. small fish?bloodworms?flakes?

  • i have a crayfish and it is moulting right right now what should i do take it out or will he eat it please respond

  • @sonic91207 I think this is too late but,let him be he will eat his original carrupurse if you do not have sand or rocks, and if there are fish TAKE IT OUT! If you have something he can burrow in then he is fine.

  • Cool can i have a crayfish in a 10 gal tank

  • @gz1423 yes

  • Dude, if found mine with the legs and pinchers gone.. I thought it was molding but I guess that's not the case. :(

  • mine died today

  • @3kennyc aww sorry :( How old was it?

  • @3kennyc :(

  • WOO HOO DINNER!!!!!

  • wow! super clip.

  • my class just got crayfishs as class pets and we got the lil babies!!!! awww!!!

  • My cat did this the other day.

  • I had one yesterday and it died! Sniff sniff!

  • isn't this an albino?

  • Why is she flipping over all the time?... Can't get a good resting pose?

  • is it ok if i help the crayfish plug out the old skin?

  • @aqwfan123 if you help it out, it won't develop the muscles it needs for its bigger body, and it won't have the wits or the strength to push itself out of its next exoskeleton, slowly squishing itself to death. Unless you're going to be helping it with every molt until it dies, then I strongly suggest you don't help it.

  • 4:26 for the bit u wanted to see ;)

  • AMAZING! I had 3 lobsters but they all died :(

I didn't know how did they mult and now I do!! Thankss!!!!

  • i can catch crawdads can i put them in my tank with a bichir

  • arnt crayfish crodads

  • Ahhh! The miracle of ecdysis.

  • I am getting a blue crayfish soon and this video helps me to understand a moult.

  • My crayfish molted in less than a min lol

  • are there signs before they switch to their new skin?

  • why did it roll over again at 5:50 lol seems kinda funny to me

  • @myztichydra it's dancing in relief

  • how did you get it into that clear case right before it was about to moat my crayfish cats all jittery just from me removing the top of my 45 gallon tank to feed it...

  • 5:15

"OMG, WTH did i just do?"

  • 4.33 awesome!

  • Aint this a prawn?

  • @rpblcan yeah hes from district 9. No its a crayfish.

  • @rpblcan yeah this particular one is from district 9

  • yes it is "help me help me" to a crayfish, moulting is very traumatic...

  • i used to trow my crayfish away whenever they flipped this way ,.... and flusehd them down the toilette. PHAHAH

  • @tuttoz Because you're a retard who shouldn't be alowed to own animals and shouldn't be allowed to breed yourself. Thanks for your time.

  • @devilhimself1974

i was gonna use them for bait anyways , either way they were gonna die .... you see i dont keep cray fish as PET ... now thats retarded .

  • y is it in a cube?

  • How'd you know he was going to molt?

  • lol it just rolls over its so cute and funny

  • why are the claws blue if its a red claw?

  • if a crwdad or crawfish gets its claw torn off it grows back

  • awww i just felt so sad for it sitting ther like help me help me that i had to watch it to the end

  • @kingryany3 Lol It's not like "help me help me", A crawdad moulting is the same principle of how we humans shed dead skin.

  • My crayfish is actually molting right now. I thought it was dead at first.

  • how do you know when its moulting

  • Why my crayfish moult and die?? thats the first one, the second crayfish moult half way and die..WHY????is it because of tradition???

  • @holydevilgg sadly my one moulted then got cut in half by big yabby!!

  • My Cherax Destructor just moulted, he got his second claw back :)

  • Why does it keep flipping over?

  • Not sure if anyone else noticed it, but there's another crayfish under the separate tank ogling away at the free crustacean peep-show (you can see the dirty little thing's antennae if you look closely enough).

  • Every bass angler should watch this video. When hes on his back, it looks just like a mop jig.

  • I have a crawfish like that, all blue and ghostly, caught from a river. It's counterpart is 3 times as big and red and the claws are hugh? Is is because one is a male and one is a female? Seems so based on the comments but you say its a Blue Crayfish molting. . .

  • actually that fish is a female

  • wanna learn a liitle secret from me?

  • Comment removed

  • good video

  • is molting and shedding the same as with snakes do

  • not really snakes just lose there skin crayfish grow a new exoskeleton

  • Nice video. I love the "System check mode" he enters after moult at 5:20 :)

  • @cnasterodon

    EYSTALKS: WORKING

    CLAWS: WORKING

    LEGS: WORKING

  • @beaglemanzzz system check ! :D

  • i've got exactly one like that one, only mine is red :p

  • amazing

  • i have an angelfish, rainbow shark, silver tip shark and a golden oto suckermouth catfish. Do u think that a crayfish would get along with these?

  • if the fish are healthy, they can avoid the crayfish

  • depends on how big the fish are.if you have big big fich the fish would eat the crayfish and if you have small small fish the crayfish would eat them so try to go with a seperate tank or medium sized fish

  • do you breed for fun or to sell them?

  • If it is called an "Australian Red Claw" why is it not red on the claws??

  • How long do they Stay Alive

  • 4 years

  • my crayfidh ate every single thing i put in my fish tank! exsample:

all the baby gold fishes, my baby sharks, my turtle; i dont know how in the world it ate it, and my other 2 cray fishes!

gosh and it just at my little baby fish! and it is floating in my fish tank now and i cant get it out; pour little fish i just had it for one day!

    :(

  • remember to leave the moulted shell in the water or your cray will die of calcium deficiency.

  • Wow thats awesome. Mine just molted and is seeking shelter. I see you have some tetras in there along with another nice looking crawfish.

What other fish do you have in your setup and do they coexist well with the crayfish or are they ever attacked?

  • stunning video! great job.isat in awe. i've never seen this happen before and it was breathtaking

  • A good sign that its getting bigger :D

  • Great video !

  • my just molted the other day he dug a cave in the gravel under a decoration and molted he has eaten most it

  • I can't believe I just sat here for 10 minutes and watched that. '_' I guess I just like crayfish...

  • @Umbrigirl lol but it is interesting it must be such an effot to do

  • @Umbrigirl the guy who holding the video cam is even worse , don't worry ^^

  • @Umbrigirl You should have fast-forwarded thru it like I did. It only took a few seconds that way! :-)

  • my crayfish died yesterday :(

  • my crayfish moulted just now at 10:00pm

  • if only it does that on the dinner plate. self de-shelling shrimp... mmmmmmm

  • *Best Idea Ever.

  • crazy, i keep crayfish too but i've never seen the 'deshelling' or the rolling about.

  • my crawfish is doing the same thing but It's tail is still moving is it dying or faking to be dead, or molting?

  • I thought it looked like that too. That roll over thing was kinda cute. S/he looked so relieved.

  • cute as hell! y is it called a red claw if it has blue claws?

  • ohh hes sooo cute1!♥♥

  • do crayfish sedd there shell all so grow little bigger?

  • Yes they do, all crustaceans do.

  • can anione tell mi wher to get tis kinda tank divider in singapore??? (as in video)

  • wot type is that crayfish plz

  • not sure but looks like cherax quadricantus

  • poor thing

  • IMPORTANT !!!!, leave the old shell in the rank, they'll eat it for important ingredients to be used in their new shell

  • do they eat their old shell so leave it in the tank

  • Yes they do, after a day or two, they seem to leave it for a couple of days to let it soften. I saw mine eating every old old shell (and yes it does ahve enough food, hehe).

  • @swampfootjoe REALLY?:( i always take the old shell cause looks dirty

  • @xBreeendaxD

Yip, but only after a few days (softer) I would recommend to hide it somewhere in the tank :)

  • @swampfootjoe but i'd rather keep them for looks

  • @codemonkeyslikeme , that is awesome didn't even think about that one

The sad news is that the Pelvicachromis pulcher fishes have eaten the offspring of my beloved crayfish

after raising them very carefully for months in a sperate thank :( ......

  • The first time mine did this, i had no idea what it was doing. it did it the 2nd day i had it. so weird.

  • Oh my god, thank you so much for this video, I saw a shell floating in my comunity tank, and I was worried one of my 3 crayfish babies had died, this video helped me to understand how crayfish molt, and you pretty much saved me from worry!

  • my fav little aquarium buddies :P - so amusing to watch when u replicate their environment and they feel safe.

  • I have to agree with BurnboyDj22, it looks like that would suck the energy out of him. Hope your crayfish companion is doing well.

  • How long does it take for them to molt? Mine is upside down and is hardly moving, its been like that for all of today. It seems like his shell is slowly turning white. I was scared, because i thought he was dying but he seems to move his tail when i disturb the water. Also, i keep him in cold tapwater and put in some fish cleaner to keep the water clean, also i feed him fish flakes, i have a hard time buying fish for him to eat. do you think he will be ok?

  • was it molting or did it die? if the latter, I'm sorry to hear it :'(

  • sadly, He passed away... Im not sure why, i was feeding him, and he had his own little house, and i was filtering the water out every other day and adding the cleaning solution.

  • i "had" "7" craw fish, there was 4 that molted it was awsome, all of em died...cuz i have sum stupid cat fish and gold fish ate it! so now i have3 left, my most fav 1 is jim, lol its soo funny when he goes by the bubble maker thing and he keeps floating and stuff, it was funny

  • mine died molting :(

  • lol, why does it keep going on its side? i love how it just wiggled out of it =D

  • Ive got six of the little guys, love em. No they dont kill each other.

  • ew, im glad i missed mine shed its skin lol. mines got a weird personality tho. it humps the patrick (spongebob squarepants) ornament in the tank and carries it around. theyre inseperable

  • wow that looked exhausting...

  • wow, that's like making another armor for protection if you ask me...

  • I love it when my cray moults, I love telling this preppy girl at school about it and that he eats it (That`s normal isn`t it?) then she gets all freaked out XD

  • i believe it is normal for a crayfish to eat its shell, because it is made of calcium deposits and is a good source of nutrients for it.

  • mine died yesterday :(

  • Mines died too from old age. She had alot of children. She did eat some too, but that's normal in a way. She looked like a bay crayfish, only big when she died.

  • rofl

  • Bin voyon tu me niase ! un écrevisse ca mue ! hey bin

  • hello wondering if any crayfish buffs were watching this cause i have a question, after two weeks of having my first cray we woke up to find here on her back dead in the tank, we've been taking good care of her feeding, water changes etc any ideas what could have caused her death? she was found upside down in the tank so could it have been woulting complications? any feed back greatly appriciated!

  • If you think it was moulting problems, it's said that a little marine iodine helps them moult better- so they don't get parts stuck in their shell. I don't know your set up- could have been a nitrate boost (did your tank cycle?), could have been lack of oxygen in the water, could have been parasites from where she came from, could have been a lot of things. Sometimes you'll just never know. Sorry

  • JOLIE PINCES SINAN

  • euh, or is the fleet? lol is the first time I see an englishman as closely ha ..

  • i got 2 crays one female othere male i woke up this morning and my female one was upside down and she was dead but we lifted her up out

the tank and she had blood splatted on her legs and red eyes do you think it was the male

  • I have a crayfish in a 70 gallon tank with various African Cichlids. He made a burrow under my Colosseum ornament where he stays most of the time. Will this be a safe place for him to moult?

  • yes as long as you dont have any other crayfish.

  • my crayfish acts like a dumbass :D once it put part of its body inside a sea shell i have inside his tank to act like a hermit crab

  • No its not a dumbass. it doesnt like light... SO it hides in anypart thats either murky OR dark and shady.

  • HAHA! Mine does the same hting. :D

  • that looks like a blue lobster...is there any difference between crayfish and lobster?

  • theres big difference between a crayfish and a lobster, first of all lobsters are way bigger and secondly lobsters have 1 pinching claw and 1 crushing claw while crayfish have 2 pinching claws

  • ok thanks

  • Crayfish = fresh

    Lobster = SALT

    crayfish = small

    Lobster = BIG

  • okay i see

  • Lol sorry for making it a list... i was too lazy to explain :(

  • lol its alrite i get it now

  • An exception is how some crays can grow bigger than some lobsters, like the Tasmanian crayfish which is the biggest invertebre living in freshwater.

  • but still, if you look at just crayfish = fresh and lobster = salt, your going to tell the difference any ways.

  • At about 4:33, he shakes out of his shell and then he just lies there weak and vunerable...like a new born babe; good filming.

  • wads with all the turning at the end? anyone know?

  • my crawfish did that but it didnt moult. it just spazzed out.

  • doesnt it need air?

  • looks good enough to eat!

  • if you eat it just like that spartan 452 you are realy a tard :P

  • aww he's a lil baby. mine is about that size too

  • Uh, how long does it take, my crayfish is looking kind of... fuzzy, idk what it is, if its a disease or not but he was acting strange last night, rolling on his back and scratching his legs, dont know if he was dieing or what but hes fine this morning he wasint white like the one in the vid, how can i tell? please help.

  • mine gets darker in color before molting, it takes about 20-30 minutes to do the whole shedding.

i finally caught my lobster molting check out my channel for the vid.

  • thats cool, i want a crayfish now.

  • My crayfish just moulted this morning. He`s not a adult yet, he`s a teen.

  • how do they do that? it's easy. use a knife and peel your skin. it feels like an orgasm!

  • why did he keep flipping over on his back?

  • thats so amazing how they do that

  • ha every time my crayfish moult i take the moult back to walmart and say it died, free ten bucks and now my tanks loaded with blue crayfish!!!!!!!!! i luv walley world

  • They need to eat the moult to gain calcium to grow stronger and healthy new shells...

  • You can feed them egg shells. They will get calcium from those.

How do you know when your crayfish is molting so you can put it in a birthing chamber?

  • you're right they do.. mine always eats his

  • holy cow i never thought of that!!!! i love ripping walmart off.

  • ha every time my crayfish moult i take the moult back to walmart and say it died, free ten bucks and now my tanks loaded with blue crayfish!!!!!!!!! i luv walley world

  • Wow, wish I knew that, but are you seriously implying that not ONE of those employees there took enough high-school biology to smell a rat (or, more aptly, bad shellfish)?

On second thoughts, they ARE spending their careers in a Wal-Mart, so I'm not too surprised.

  • What is under the breeding tank? What I can see looks a whole hell of a lot like antennae.

  • why ddi he flip around?

  • To show off his sexy new legs

  • that was pretty damn cool

  • poor thing for it to struggle by itself i just want to help it .lol

  • people y0u kn0w crayfish are becoming extinct now, it's illegal now in some states capture, remove, or use as bait because they play in important role in lakes.
