  • naturally they cast a white guy

  • They really should have cast this kid instead. Some one trained in wushu would at least have the grace and fluidity to pull off a good impression of a variety of Chinese styles, with this kid possibly a great impression. Despite all the editing and C.G.I. I still notice an underlying awkwardness In the "Bagua" and "Taiji" demonstrations in the movie. After years of training you can't expect his performance to do anything but scream Tae Kwon Do.

  • is this Noah Ringer from the movie??

    omg he's so great xD

  • @rmwua No.......... he's not Noah Ringer.

  • @janeaquino

oh haha yeah ur right.. xD I forgot to read the text above ... sorry!!

but you´re really great (if it is u on the vid) :O

  • @rmwua

no because he's kinda dark so M Night Shy didnt pick him ... Noah Ringer sucked at martial arts ..(from my opinion) ..

  • 1 word AWESOME!!!!!!!¡

  • they casted noah ringer

  • The past-tense of "cast" is "cast," not "casted."

  • Be glad they did not cast you, because that movie was awful, whereas you are AWESOME.

  • @fable23 DUDE!!! The movie isn't awful why would you say that thing. Maybe they would be sad if u said that. Listen! If u make a movie and someone said the movie awful what do u feel? They make that movie very hard they learn the Kungfu everday 8 hour! People r stupid they don't think first before they talk.

  • M. Night really missed by a landslide.

    This boy is amazing!

  • the kid is awesome. i have nothing against Noah, but this kid's great..

  • Wow! O_O *speechless*

You should have gotten the part.

    I mean it.

You are very skilled in martial arts! :)

  • haha wow ur a beastly kid ^_^

  • dude they want you to use stick not that

  • okay this kid should have been cast as Aang

  • omg! i didnt know noah was half filipino. that's awesome. :))

  • @welkin009

    ??? where'd u hear that from ?

  • @welkin009 According to what he and his people told the the press, Ringer is something like 1/8 Native American. This announcement came after he was cast in Cowboys and Aliens. Funny how they kept quiet about his heritage while all the Airbender stuff was going on, but, now that he's been cast in C&A (playing a character that replaces a character who was N.A. in the comic) he suddenly reveals that he's part Native American.

  • @welkin009 i think ur talkin about the azn kid who DIDN'T get the role. noah is the guy in the movie and the only possible "asian" in him is said to be native american 0.o

  • so noah did he own stunts?

  • dont piss them off........

  • those kids are lethal with their weapons so dont piss them off or they will do what they were doing........

  • lethal kids with ordinary weaps = dont piss them off or they will do what they were doing

  • thos kids are lethal with thos ordinary weapons srsly

  • good one . that was good, its abit unfair that gay ass directer picked a whit kid ,even though in the cartoon he is not even ment to be white.

he should of picked a shoulin kid or somet like that.

  • @TheConvics still considering all of the critisizum and pressure noah ringer had once he was casted instead of someone of aisian nationality or other he had maybe not the best suport and he did a great job for being found on the internet, he in my opinion is the only kid who could have pulled it off so cut the kid some slack

  • That kid was awesome

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!=O

  • Ok this kid should have been Aang it looks so much more like his fighting skills!

  • It was Jade Quon doing all those spectacular fight scenes for Naoh Ringer, yet he's the one getting all the credit! He was critcised by sifu kisu over hes alck of martial arts skills, henec the reliance on Jade and CGI.....so what the hell was he hired for? His fancy staff twirling!

  • Noah was criticised at how basic his martial arts was hence the reliance on CGI and Jade Quon his fight and stunt double, all the creidt for th movie hsould be going to her since she was the one doing all those amazing scenes. So it begs the question what was Noah exactly hired for? staff twirling it wasnt for his acting ability or martial arts.

  • this kid shouldve plzyed aang, no offense but noah looks hellza white >.< wtf?

  • wish I could do this ;-;

  • how do you audition for stuff like this?

  • I personally think your son would have been better than Noah RInger. Not only were his skills more like the cartoon Aang, but his voice, and cute personality were a better match.

  • where's noahs ?

  • oh cool hes actualy a filipino like me? i thought he was american-chinese :D

  • Perris is super talented. I have a question. I really want to also know how to do all these martial arts. Do you know a really good program anywhere?

  • I think that he is pretty rad! I so wish that I could do amazing stunts, I also wish that I would have perused further into martial arts. Props to the people who follow through with it and are totally awesome because they do!

@ [[anyone who is argumentative]] Just enjoy the martial arts that they present, because it is a beautiful form of expression and strength.

  • Is he chinese??

  • HOW COULD THEY NOT CAST THIS KID?!!! HES A WHOLE LOT BETTER THAN THAT NOAH KID!!!

  • Oh this kid got mad skills but we all know why he wasint chosen which really sucks an is sad but thats life

  • ...But can this kid act?..

  • cool guy )))

  • wow you got some mad skills just not aangs cute boy looks

  • This isn't the Aang that was chosen, right? If not, I actually think he may have done a better job than the one in the movie. I don't know how well his acting is, since this is just his martial arts, but I feel like this kid's movements were a lot more graceful and... 'believable'? (I guess that's the word I'm looking for) They resembled the anime more, in my opinion.

  • awesome little dude. Totally skilled. Wish I could do that . . .

  • Noah is very talented but this kid is AND looks more like the original Avatar in the cartoon. Hollywood is famous for casting caucasions as asians, middle-easterners etc....but that's how it goes...LOL I hear Angelina Jolie is supposed to play Cleopatra in an upcoming movie....I suppose they'll bronze her pale skin to death to make it work LMAO

  • Why was this guy NOT picked for the Avatar movie? He's great :D

  • purpleduck ur wrong They said Noah knows about Tae Kwan Do and karate. And if you saw this full vid perris is just so-so when it comes to actually acting. Beast in this video though.

  • i wish your son had been casted as the avatar :(, i hope he is blessed with an acting opportunity in the near future :)

  • wow They missed out...The kid in the movie didnt even do anything...

  • The kung fu in the movie could of been a lot better, along with a TON of other things that went wrong in the movie. Sigh... don't get me started.

  • meet the white aang

  • his acting is not so good

  • i saw this video somewhere else on youtube but when i seen it i was like y didnt they pick this kid instead of that lame white guy

  • @Sk8B0ardB0I I agree!

  • this kid is really good but I think Noah deserved it... I know from watching him a bunch of times at tournaments. Everyone in the ATA is really proud of him.. But either way i'm not trying to say that Noah is better or vice versa. You know what i'm saying? Maybe this kid will get a role in a different movie. It's not any better to call him names or say he sucks...

  • I think it sucks that People are going to compare Perris to someone who now has acting training and two stunt women (1 is asian) for his double when the movie comes out.

  • @janeaquino There are a lot of actors that have stunt doubles, so what. Maybe they didn't want a child getting hurt!!!!

  • @MsFenderBender23

Maybe you should go to another video that you like and comment there. Perris is my son. Who are you? You don't even have a page? And... what I say is true. So, you should just back off. Or, go do some research and find out what it's like trying to be a minority actor in Hollywood.

  • @janeaquino Msfenderbender is funny. She has a "page" and thats suppose to make her an expert.... and she obviously thinks that repeating something makes it true. and if he is her son, it just shows that she is bias. if she says she is not bias she is also a liar. what mom doesnt think there kid is the best. Maybe Ms fenderbender can have one of her books made into and movie and then she can have her son star in it. she's too funny thanks for the laugh.

  • i guess they liked noah ringer better :P

  • @wizard101fan12234 There's no proof that anyone during the casting calls even viewed his video!!!! Please read the description of this video for more details.

  • @janeaquino ok

  • Don't worry about Hollywood. In the end... letting the wrong people abuse/exploit your talent... isn't worth it.

My opinion? (as if it matters much, but I'll offer it)... get your own team together, shoot your OWN stuff. Whether you make "money" at it or not and whether 10 view it or 10,000... there is something to be said for being satisfied with your own self-respect and enjoyment of things you love to do in life. Again--money or not!

Do what you love. The rest follows. :)

    --Novastar

  • DUDE I SWEAR I SAW THIS KID IN KARATE KID WITH JADEN SMITH.....I KNOW IT.

  • @blublub17

Wow...no. he's not in Karate Kid.

  • holy shit that little kid was using a threee sectional staff hella well, that thing is a Bi@tch to wield proficently

  • any one know what staff form he was doing?

  • @zokon53 Mei Hua Gun.

  • the trampoline was particularly unimpressive, but the rest was cool.

  • just because you aren't white doesn't mean you can't also be racist towards other minorities. have you people never heard of self hating blacks/latinos/asians/etc??

will not be supporting this RACIST ASS MOVIE.

  • Yes, this kid has serious skills, and he didn't get cast - but that doesn't mean the casting is racist. Have you seen M. Night? He's not exactly cracker material. So don't hate on Noah until the movie comes out. If he sucks, then he sucks and maybe we can make them recast for the next movies. Hell, for now we should just be happy Jesse McCartney isn't Zuko anymore.

  • @sparethebear Thank you

  • I honestly think Perris had so much more potential than Noah...

But hey at least your son isn't gonna be in an M. Night Sham. Movie....

make him play for a different part for a different movie... because this movie directed by M Night... it's not gonna be decent good or anything...

it's gonna SUCK, this is all in my opinion of course lol

  • How the hell did noah ringer beat this kid in a martial arts audition? I've watched so all the trailers and have yet to be dazzled by anything he's done. Saw the casting call poster and it was ridiculously racist. Im thinking that the last airbender movie is gonna go the way of the dragonball movie. It would be a shame for such a great series to be blemished by a crap movie.

  • Sweet.

  • this kid definateley has the skills but maybe he couldnt act but i still think he shoulda been chosen for aang the one that they chose "Noah Ringer" looks like an 8 year old and has a baby face

  • "He may not be the best actor - but hey, he took a chance and didn't make it. That's all." then why are people saying that perris was turned away because of his race? the casting *call* was bogus,no one disputes that, but the actual casting process *itself* wasn't "Oh you're this race, buzz off." I'm just wondering if noah had some hidden acting talent that they could build from.

  • @GloomySunset

Perris was one of many Asian-Americans that tried out for the main roles. This video was a "submission" to the casting directors to Paramount in LA and NY along with a headshot and resume. There is no proof the video was viewed. He was never called for a live audition. Take it as you will.

  • @janeaquino perhpas all of those asian americans that tried out must've seen the other casting call, the one that was meant to be seen, and not "CAUCASIAN (or any other ethnicity)".

  • @GloomySunset

There was no "other" casting call. Unless you are referring to the ones for background characters where they said "if you're from Korea, wear a Kimono" or "if you didn't come in a big African thing, just put a scarf over your head".... Is that the casting call you are referring too? That was equally uncalled for as the CAUCASIAN or other ethnicity line. No one is going to stop you from watching what you want to watch. It's a free country.

  • @janeaquino Actually there was a few different casting calls. Paramount uses third parties for their casting needs. These companies use different langauge, hence the "Caucasian and any other ethnicity" which they probably thought would make it clear that even though these roles have asian names they are open to whites as well. I know this for a fact because I have a friend who is in the movie. She went to the casting calls in Philadelphia where we live. This kid is good btw.

  • @Thejugglingbum

That's great you have a friend in the movie. The casting calls being referred to that were offending where for the main characters only; Aang, Zuko, Katara, and Sokka. Is she a main character? If she's an extra, then yes, the casting call verbiage was different.

  • @janeaquino No you misunderstand. At the Philadelphia auditions the language was different than that of the infamous "Caucasian or any other ethnicity" on that is being paraded around by sites like racebending. If I knew there was going to be such a controversy then I would of taken a copy of it. But when we were there we didn't notice any discrimination for any of the casting and sure enough there was dozens on Aangs there of different races.

  • @Thejugglingbum

Well, the casting breakdown on all the actors sites used this language. 3 years ago. What you claim is the first i've heard regarding the language in Phili. Obviously it didn't stop Perris from trying to audition. And I can only speak for ourselves. Racebending is a site that you can be open-minded to or not. It's not just about this movie, but all types of movies that mis-represent all cultures and races.

  • @Thejugglingbum

Oh yeah, there was also an official website specifically for the role of Aang. 1 website, 1 language. They've taken it down after the deadline for DVD auditions were due... but whatever - it doesn't matter. Movie is almost out. People are going to compare Perris to someone who now has acting training and a stunt woman for his double.

  • eww I'm way better

  • this kid ROCKS!

  • You would make an adorable Aang.

  • Kid, you're awesome. I see you as aang, you look more like him, you have similar expressions and everything ad im especially impressed with your talent in martial arts. You should be playing Aang.

  • hes really good! but maybe noah ringer had something that perris didnt have. so just let it go. noah might be good.

  • @darkdanny91

    M. Night stated in an interview that Noah Ringer literally needed acting lessons after he was cast. Just sayin'.

  • And Perris wouldn't?

you know, Noah doesn't just do tae kwon do. he does other martial arts.

noah looks more like aang, and while we know that perris knows kung fu, neither of them know baguazhang.

    Just sayin.

  • @GloomySunset Which other martial arts?

  • @GloomySunset

Funny how everyone thinks they know what Noah and Perris knows as far as their martial arts history instead of asking. Perris is familiar with many types of KUNG FU including: bagua, tai chi, Northern and Southern Styles, mantis, drunken, choy lay fut... all Chinese styles. He may not be the best actor - but hey, he took a chance and didn't make it. That's all. Hope you at least enjoyed the video...,

  • well, who would we ask about their skills? I could ask you about perris, but noah's under wraps. All I know is his standings in some regional taekwondo thing. he's a beast in sparring, form, & weaponry.

  • @GloomySunset

So you know Noah to defend him in this way? If you don't have a problem with Noah being Aang, that's fine because he is. Perris is my son, and if you want to continue to comment on how Perris doesn't depict your perfect Aang, this is not the place to do it and just stop watching his videos and commenting.

  • *headdesk*

NOOOO I would've been perfectly FINE with your son. i have no doubts about him anymore despite the fact that I initially didn't think he looked Aangish because I'm know nothing about acting thus I don't cringe at Perris' acting like others do 'cause I have no idea about its quality nor can I say Noah's perfect w/o seeing the film. Who knows who would've been "perfect"? I'm not trying to belittle Perris. The point is, was he really turned away because he's not white enough?

  • @GloomySunset Take a look at the cast as is. Where would Perris have fit into the image that Paramount has constructed? They set out to find white actors. This wasn't about talent because if it was these videos would be featured on a DVD/Blu-ray release of The Last Airbender. Perris actually has more training as an actor AND martial artist (specifically in styles more in tune with those featured in Avatar) than Noah Ringer. He wasn't considered because he didn't fit the image they wanted: white.

  • yeah, but we have yet to see how much his noobishness compared to Perris'. Just sayin'. I have complaints about the people playin' sokka & katara but not noah.

  • U SHOULDVE BEEN AANG.. not that lil kid/noah they choose

  • SOOOOO Why isn't this kid Aang? I fail to see how that Noah kid was chosen over him.

  • probably cuz noah looks more like aang in the movie. But this kid is amazing. Better than noah!!!

  • his height smile and proper martial art texture was perfect for aang...alas its too late

  • All these kids are too asian, unfortunately...gladly this system is ending :)

  • @kahea2018 What do you mean by that?

  • too bad he doesn't really look like Aang... then again none of them really do lol Eh I think Aang is the only matching character actually! lol He looked white/asian and was based on Asian, now he looks white Asian and is played by white (and can still fight)

I think in the second film Toph might also look just like the real Toph since all the earth benders will be Chinese Japanese and the Earth benders either looked Arab or Chinese (Toph looked Chinese lol)

  • GAPING MOUTH HERE

  • this kid is GOODDD and wut sucks they chose some eles

this movie is going to suck wut eles to expect the worse director it going to direct this movie

  • holy fuck, this kid is amazing. i know that noah ringer is a martial arts champ, but what the hell were the casting directors thinking?

  • Noah Ringer is only trained in karate, while this Perris kid actually knows the same style of martial arts that Aang uses! Ba gua and karate are very different. So I agree with you - what the hell were the casting directors thinking?

  • @purpleduck84 THEY FREAKIN' SUPPORT M. NIGHT!

  • @purpleduck84 I thought it was tae kwon doe or however you spell it...LOL

  • @purpleduck84

    he's acting sucks..

  • @purpleduck84 I have read a whole crap ton of research and from what I have read Noah Ringer does not know karate, he is an expert in taekwondo. I am not saying anything against your post so do not get in a debate with me about what the caster was thinking when he hired Noah, I could care less about the debates going around.

  • @purpleduck84 actualy taekwondo

  • @purpleduck84 they chose that because Ba Gua is the style airbending is based off of. like tai chi and water bending, and hung gar for earth bending

  • Wow he's good. But Noah Ringer looks more like Aang.

  • @Ballaballa175yahoo yeah he does

  • Gahh. That kid is awesome T_T

I really like how he does the moves almost exactly as Aang. :]]

  • okay what the hell is wrong with these people!!!! this guy is epic. oh and who gives a sht if noah looks like aang. the fire nation doesnt look like the tv show either

  • *looks up cast* omfg jasper is sokka and this kids style screams aang now i won't be satisfied with the noah kid

  • By, "they casted someone else" you mean, they casted someone whiter, amirite?

  • This video was uploaded to youtube when we found out through Paramount that they had chosen their lead actor. We didn't know at the time who that someons else was. So, the answer to your question is NO, that is not what it means... thanks for the view. Check out his other videos on my page!

  • what the hell?! why does hollywood always fuck up on the castings? this kid should definitely have been Aang he's got major martial arts skills

  • @tenshi30

Noah Ringer is younger and is at a much higher level then his kid. They want to make 3 movies!

  • @MsFenderBender23

What the hell? How do you know Noah is at a higher level than him? I would really love to know......... BTW, check out Perris's other videos. Enjoy the movie...

  • @janeaquino M. Night Shyamalan said he was the highest ranked kid from 10-12 years old that audition for the part. THAT'S HOW I KNOW!!!! Maybe you need to do some research before you put Noah down. I'm not putting Perris down at all. He is awesome at what he does and may get a role sometime. Shyamalan also said that out of over 12,000 auditions Noah was one of the only kids without any acting experience that could show true emotions!!!!

  • @MsFenderBender23

#1. I have never put Noah down. #2. I have never put Noah down.

YOU are the one who said NOAH IS AT A HIGHER LEVER THEN HIM. BUT there is NO PROOF that Perris's dvd submission was even viewed. Take that however you want...

  • @MsFenderBender23 Go watch the Film, and watch how Noah sucks at acting.

  • @MsFenderBender23 bullshit noah was obviously picked because he looks more white..im sorry but M Knight sold out.

  • this kid shoulda been a definate pic, I dont care that the current kid Noah whats his face, if hollywood is so concerned about making sure the acters look acurate to the characters why arent any inuets being cast as sokka & katara? a little of the subject , anyway this kid kicks ass espeacially with the 3 sectioned staff. XD

  • Comparing the face noah ringer looks closer to aang, theres a pic of him smiling he resembles aang allot more, aang doesnt really look asian in the cartoon series he looks in between asian and white. Unlike zuko , katara , sokka and so on

  • He's very talented (or he trained a lot), but physically, even though he's Asian, i think Noag Ringer looks much more like Aang than he does...

  • >> Ok why was HE not cast as Anng?

  • noah ringer was the martial arts champion of the world (for his age) and he also looks much more like aang.

  • @eahs07 you're right!

  • since the're no black people in the show...i guess king bumi just has a really nice tan.....and isnt the guru indian....its not just asians in avatar

  • Yeah let's start a petition... Even though the movie is already finished and there's no way a production company would start all over just to please a few people on YouTube. But yeah let's start a petition -_-

  • WOWOWOW that was AWESOME!!

  • dude you totally should've been aang in the movie rather then noah ringer. you own at martial arts!

  • Man kid you're super awesome, your moves look just like aang's, the other kid knows karate but he's not as good as you were and his moves are nothing like aang's, he's just white. Stupid cast!

  • tnx for vid!

  • lets start a competition that he should still get the role!

    ^ - ^

  • You mean a "petition"?

Lol. Well, I agree. This a talented little kid.

  • dude u frigin awesome

  • Hmm...Him (awesome kid who totally looks like Aang, can act like Aang, and got mad fighting skills) OR Noah Ringer (a fatty who is good a karate). Yupp, someones spiked the directors water with cactus juice.

  • @just2bme808 Man, you're epic!!!LOL

Take it easy on the Noah kid, he has feelings too you know!!!

  • damn that kid is crazy at wushu

  • DAMN good stuff

  • how cud they cast sumone else ur a sick aang

  • yer ur awsome. And I think u would fit the roll well (more than the other kid who got casted)

  • whos playing Aang?

  • A fat kid named Noah Ringer.

  • @dialga8666 Lolz, he's not fat,he's just a bit chubby that's all

  • the kid playing aang is sooo retarded. all the cast exept dev (who is playing zuko) are white when the show is asian. wtf?

  • O.o xD aang is GOOD air bender

  • whats the trampoling place called i want to go to a place like that but i wouldnt know where to look plz help

  • Arent the water benders white? They have blue eyes.

    Earth benders have green eyes...

Didnt anyone actually watch the show?

Besides cant some be asian and other white and still others black? What would it matter as long as the story and acting was good.

(Well as long as brothers and sisters or relatives are the same race)

  • the water benders are BROWN with blue eyes, that's called perception

  • Well actually who wuld notice the eyes when there is too much action lol.

  • There are Asians with blue/green eyes. It's not a predominant Caucasian trait. Eye color is used to differentiate between the four nations. The Water Tribe is based on the very real INUIT people.

Avatar takes place in a PAN ASIAN WORLD. There were NO Caucasian or black people in that world.

I'VE seen the show. Have YOU???

  • eye color doesn't matter at all in hollywood. u can always change the eye color... not the SHAPE of the eye... though.

  • yup..i think the only really asian looking people were the fire nation and the earth kingdom..the water tribe wasinuit and there are some people that live down there that are white..and then aang is definately white..he was the palest most big eyes person on the show! lol

  • yeah, that really confused me actually. All the older Airbenders looked Asian, without a doubt, then most of the kids at Aang's Air temple looked more Caucasian than anything else. I guess, in reality, they probably should have have gone with someone with both asian and caucasian ancestry for Aang...oh well though, we'll see what happens.

  • @stratisfire The big eyes were to emphasize his innocence and childlike nature, as for being pale, I always see him with the same skin tone as Zuko.
