For one, this was the 80's when cartoons weren't so politically correct and were darker in content. AND it was before the Disney Renaissance which would later set a new standard for cartoons.

Secondly, this is for little kids and I can tell you for a fact that little kids back then would even be concentrating on boobs.

Well, I thinkt hat a good bit of animators may be inclined to disagree with you where new standards in cartoons were set. The Renaissance certainly changed the face of animation and storytelling, there is no doubt about that really as evidenced by how every other animation studio tried to copy the Disney formula.

As for the PC bit... IMO for me, it's a bit hard to see that. For example, in Aladdin how they changed the lyrics in a song to avoid offending Arabs, or how the story of Pocahontas was outright sanitised to the point where the history was not recognizable just to avoid offending people, or how The Hunchback of Notre Dame also had a bit of PC in it. Mulan was somewhere in between.

I just think that cartoons shouldn't be afraid to capture realism and the darkness of life.
