You just failed Civics 101... the Democratic Party was founded in 1792 by Thomas Jefferson. In 1938, under FDR, The Fair Standards Labor Act was passed which finally outlawed oppressive child labor. It also founded the minimum wage and the time and a half standard for overtime. As for National Parks, their formation created thousands of jobs that were sorely needed post Great Depression.

The Keynesian model is flawed and is very short sighted - perfect for big government career politicians. Keynes himself noted "in the long term we are all dead" showing his lack of appreciation for long term economic policies. Also, if we didn't have a 9 billion to 1 fractional reserve system, there would be no moral hazard, no need for government intervention, and no subprime crisis. If you really want to blame something, blame the banks' ability to leverage 50-60x what they put up.
