it's sad, even in the country villages of Asia, people know 2 things about jews: 1. they are good in managing money , 2. they are smart. i experienced this myself when i was in a small mountain village in taiwan, yotai yen? ohhh... #1 smartest? jewish! but chinese is #2 they quickly added. you are jewish? oh that's why you can afford a trip to taiwan! *sigh*

Well the fact that Chinese let the Jews in Shanghai when the USA and Brits shut their door on the Jewish refugee from NAZI Europe, should sound ample about Chinese attitudes toward Jews. well, in general Chinese culture does not have the "burden" of religion and China has almost always open it's doors wide open to non-hostile.

You may have read about "Kaifeng Jews"....I'm guessing this is the only instance of Jews being absorbed by another enthnicity/culture ?

Actualy, there have been many instances of jews being absorbed into other ethnicities all over the world. In fact, during the late middle ages, while other Europeans were populating massively, the Jews stayed about the same due mainly to esimilation. I would say the Jews in China is one of the cases of the entire Jewish population deminishing, but probably not the only case.Besides that, you may have heard of the "10 lost tribes" that, while not Jewish, were of the same nation - Israel.
