Of course Buckner was no Dimaggio but he was a very good baseball player who played hurt half of his career after sliding into second with the Cubs and damaged his ankles. He played ourfield when he was with the Dodgers. A very good ball player who shouldn't be remembered for one thing. Very good stats. Plus the Sox lost that game because Shiraldi gave up 3 straight hits then you had Stanley and Gedman's passed ball which scored the tying run and put the winning run on second. There's th game.
