  • Nothing a pair of i7 can't fix *winks*

  • pls dont even talk about apple now cause they are dead

this is Microsoft surface the steve job products killer

  • @0abelino They are dead now? Their stock has tripled in 3 years. This "product" has been on display since 2006, yet has never been made available to a commercial market. And you think it is going to derail the iPad? This is a fucking table.

  • surface 2 is already released and i suppose that its not laggy anymore

  • upgrade processor-graphics-ram-and put in a few terabytes of space and you'll be good xD

  • lol lag

  • just put an intel i7 extreme in it and everything will be fine...

  • Comment removed

  • this will never happen on a apple :) (the lag)

  • @hackertc bullshit. Even Apple has lag.

  • @systemaddictshock Have you used an iPad before? Motion detection has no lag AT ALL

  • You guys expect too much ... This is not an iPad !!!

  • @DoctorNetLda well this thing is $12,000 and the ipad is $499 I think that for the price they better fix the lag.

  • @diegsTH and iPad is about the same size and all those things...

  • Right !!! Works like a charm ...

  • it lags because it is still beta..

  • @Coi1221 trust me it will lag even when it will be ready for RTM

  • 0:30 "im gonna pull it out and play with it" yea im sure u r xP

  • its a great idea and they're definitely doing a great job on it, it just needs some more processing and animation capabilities so the interface doesn't lag as displayed in the video.

  • He said he was gonna "pull it out and play with it :30 to :35 seconds lol

  • @robertmf2008

You do realize that ideas are stolen all the time, right? Apple was in fact the first to steal from the Linux kernels, and styles. (Lol mac-users who say Windows stole their style, when Mac stole their style from Linux. So in turn Windows GUI is based off Linux, not Mac)

  • @PhazeOnPlus Few months to late but...

FINALLY someone who knows what they are talking about.

  • It's kinda slow.

  • laggy :(

  • @deliquenme Just like everything else microsoft has something to do with

  • i want one

  • i have one at my home

  • And by GUI, I meant the original GUI. Not the GUI on the Surface.

  • Apple can't even dream about these technologies until another r&d department of a big fucki&* company like Microsoft, GM or matsushita comes along and REALLY develop a technology rather than adopting and putting an apple logo on it. Wake up

  • Microsoft copied the GUI from Apple.

Obviously, Apple is doing something right with their computers, because you know what? PEOPLE BUY THEM. Their OS is more advanced and easy to use than Windows. Apple is innovative. I'm not saying Microsoft isn't, because I love the idea of the Surface, but Apple innovates at a consumer level. Innovation for everyone.

  • This has nothing to do with OS's. Its a new product and new idea. If copying is the subject then make a reasearch about what mac osx is using as basis (let me tell you its unix). Mac OS is not more advanced. Thats just a lie.

  • Watch Pirates of Silicon Valley... Steve Jobs was invited to see the graphical user interface (GUI) which has been DEVELOPED by XEROX. Xerox had developed the MOUSE, and standard interface styles we all know today. But the company bigwigs thought it was a silly idea and agreed to let Apple look at everything they had. Apple naturally STOLE EVERYTHING they could.

Eventually Bill Gates get to steal from Apple to create Windows... oh well... IP theft is pretty common with them tech leaders...

  • Dude this is Microsoft. It will fail and do horrible. No one wants to spend 10 grand on a table and there is no ctr+alt+delete.

  • ahh the apple fanboys....always...always....without any delay, they come and they do the comment: "If apple did it it would be better, microsoft can't do anything etc etc" .... grow up you bastards

  • Aparently that could be the future of coffee tables.. but it won't just be music orientated

  • agreed, but mac make things that will help to make things useful to their customers, not silly gimmicks

  • No Gimmiks?! IPod shuffle that reads the name of the track aloud...

  • hahaha your saying thats an equal gimmick to that crap?! the reading the song name is a great way of getting around not having a screen. and it works, it has had great reviews. and the best part is that if you dont want to use it, it doesn't get in the way of the other great features of the ipod shuffle.

your an idiot. find something you know what your talking about

  • It LAGS big time...

  • if apple made one it wouldn't

  • The thing is that it's not the sold version, it's a demo one ....

And stop saying that apple would do everything better than microsoft, they even stole the multi-touch interface from microsoft surface....

  • its "better because your comparing an iphone to a table, easier to do.

  • umm.. i never said iphone.. but all of apples products are far superior.

The only thing they aren't the best at are for gaming. But this table doesn't look like it's best suited for that..

  • @Vikkouz true be dat

  • It's also not finished.

  • do not know if want. looks really buggy and overpriced

  • winamp ftw

  • I'm confused, why would we want something to do that when we have a computer or laptop that you can just plau music from?

  • It's for rich people to show off to there mates. I surpose you could use this in warfare planning as it would be very useful for troop postion tracking all on one screen

  • But they could just you know project it onto a wall and save themself some money

  • yer but with this they could drag multiple maps into one place and resize them quickly Who knows tbh i don't like the look of this >_> it's just like an I-pod touch but alot bigger and more features

  • pretty much but mah, whatever makes Microsoft happy

  • huh. anyone else see the irony? It struck me that microsoft is spending a lot of money in a development that only rich people will be able to afford, instead of actually working on making their software acceptable. Like vista. The last real good microsoft development was XP.

  • Ever heard of Windows 7? And Vista is far superior to XP nowadays

  • Maybe if you live in another dimension. I's superior in no way that significantly makes it superior. Trust me I use it on a regular basis, as I do with XP. in a fair comparison vista is shit. no offence users

  • I surport you 100% with that. I have a vista laptop and a XP laptop the vista one spends 60% of the time not working

  • In my opinion, it's all down to personal preferance, it doesn't matter how high tech a program or piece of equipment is, if the user can't actually use it then it's use-less. That's why those really basic mobiles for elderly/handicapped people have been so big in Japan, because you use it as a phone, not for email or text, just to call. Simplicity is a beauty/advancement in itself.

  • There really is nothing new here.....

Sure we've probably not seen this technology used for this purpose before....and with good reason.

  • I'm laughing at anyone who is still raging in the OS war.

I'm a Mac user from personal preference but i like what Microsoft are trying to achieve. This looks brilliant.

  • but is it practical? except with special cases - such as for people with a disability - i still think using a mouse & keyboard would be more efficient.

  • MACS RULE

  • im not gunna, good technology, but is this just pointless shit that is never gunna make a real hit? y use that when u cud just go to ur comp and slap on media player and listen to music on there :| , plus it lags alot, microsoft are really quite old news, apples the leader when it comes to stuff like this

  • it isnt finished. everything made by apple looks exactly the same, boring white glossy crap.

  • yes exactly the macs use it to attract dimwits who think oh i dont care about my computers overall capabilities or whether its compatible with about 10% of new software that comes out and has to wait a year or so to get it when microsoft users are LAUGHING IN THEIR FACEE!!!!! using all the newest software. and itunes is a pile of shit compared to windows media player. media player takes like 2 secs literally itunes takes longer than a mcdonalds apple pie takes to cool down ( which is fuckin ages

  • While i disagree with your tone.. you were more or less correct... until you got onto the subject of "windows media player" It's an almost unbearably poor piece of software....practically everything is better than it.

  • so your saying itunes is better...? seriously do you have itunes. I mean its a disgrace on so many levels, i dont particularly think media player is amazing it could do with a bit of tweaking but its nothing in comparison to the hell of waiting for itunes to stop screwing you computer while it loads. btw thanks for the agreement even if i was slightly aggressive in expressing my point lol.

  • I think itunes probably is better, while its still aweful, at least it looks pretty.

    Anyway... I don't use either :P

I tend to go with Musikcube, VLC, media player classic.

  • Mac software works!

I had a PC that was cluttered with software. Similar software, which could only do so much, that you needed another similar software to finish the job at hand. I'm now a happy camper over at the Mac camp. As for gaming, well i prefer my console anyday.

  • but at least it works eh? xD

  • Doesn't seem all that practical?

  • very true

  • But can u watch porn on it hmm?

  • think this is the question on everyones mind, well atleast mine anyway, lol.

  • The things we would do in the name of reseacrh.

  • Yay for lag!

  • bless microsoft trying to be a little bit 'Mac'

  • why would microsoft it degrade itself to the level of a glorified vtech kids toy

  • haha, have you seen the age group windows are using to advertise their amazing vista? i rekon the oldest child theve used so far is 12 i think? i guess all the adults know better lol

  • what came first ? Mac or Microsoft ? Microsoft. Mac OS is sooooooo different from windows...yeh right, bless Mac for copying everything Microsoft has done and making it white and glossy.

  • looks like just one big iphone to me

  • :) ouh thats gotta hurt.

  • " Mac or Microsoft"

You understand you are comparing a product to a company?

As for which came first MacOS or Windows..

The first version of MacOS was released in 1984. While Windows was first realised in 1985.....and realistically didn't catch up with MacOS until 1990 with the realise of 3.0.

The first release of windows was so bad it was mostly ignored...it had exciting features like multiple windows....that you couldn't even overlap..nice!

  • or more efficient code :p

  • excellent but a bit laggy but with the faster processors it work a wonder

  • this is the future...

soon we will all just hav toush screen computers...

but until they are more powerful they wont be in mainstream use.

  • No thanks, I'll stick with my monitor, mouse and keyboard.

  • hmmm i can see the response rate!

  • interveiwer sounds like rvanner

  • who the fuck would want that peice of dog shit retards

  • I've used 1 once about a month ago, Yes they do crash quite a bit but are still as impressive as ever when they work, there were so many apps on it and i think the memory can't hold out atm but in essence they are just like a massive ipod touch, which is actually quite a good thing!

  • That looks laggy as hell.

  • What I was thinking.. You'd probably just need a more powerful machine..

  • WOW

  • Comment removed

  • am i the only one that thinks it looks slow and a little bit mac like

  • this is till in production, when its commercially available, chances are the guts of it will be upgraded so it can handle it. I wouldn't say mac-like, yes, it's very glossy, but its slightly darker which is more the windows side of things, whereas macs are quite bright and white.

  • lol shits slow as hell

  • I noticed that too but the Nokia 5800 looked slow like that too when it was first demonstrated but I have one and its not slow at all so its going to be something we'll have to wait and see about

  • I'm a 5800 user also and was impressed with the lengthy functionality of the phone, but it definitely has its moments as far as slight lagging goes. I've always been a bit skeptical of any touch screen tech as I haven't seen any that meet my expectations. btw mon the hoops

  • yeah there is alot of lag especially when screen moves round but hopefully with the next update that will be solved, and we are the people!!

  • Still looks like it has some things to sort out, but what a great gadget :D

  • Oh I am sure that it will look sharp and quick in a few years time.

Can do some great things with this.

  • its looks very laggy.. i think they need to work on the speed and performance.

  • this was a really poor demo. Is it really this laggy, jumpy and unresponsive?

  • all the videos i've seen look like it... maybe microsoft will tweak it...

or possibly it's running on low specs... who knows with microsoft

  • cant wait for this to actually be good XD

you know what i mean its a good idea , mahosive screen table, just looks like they should make it quciker, more sensitive etc

  • wheres the technology? looks like a touch screen to me on a table...

  • Yeah it looks like it's running on top of a standard windows box.

Oh, the guy even says it at 0:59 - 1:03

  • it would run smoothly if it was designed by Apple

    and definately look better

  • I was just about to say the same thing

  • And cost 200 times as much but that doesn't matter cos people would still buy it cos its Apple.

  • its being made by Microsoft, read the title

  • I was replying to some guy who said it would be better if it was made by apple rather than microsoft.

  • pou un fois microsoft fé un bon nafér!! mdr

  • laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagy

  • woo cake:)

  • so now you can touch your music, urm thats never been done before? also why do the album boxes look like the album track list on an ipod??????? oh yea i forget its microsoft they can't think of anything themselves

  • yeah id much rather find an album by a picture of something other than the album cover

  • haha that thing runs reallll smooth.

  • just wait for Apple to come up with this sort of technology.... oh hang on they did!!! iPhone anyone

  • Hey Microsoft!

    Sort out the lag. ;D

  • Lol its like a Big giant Ipod touch or iphone

  • its not that much of microsoft's fault. their software is great, but because there is not that of a big sized capacitive screen yet (at a reasonable price) they use back projection to make multitouch happen. which is an engineering marvel on its own considering the drawbacks of that approach. however, there is still room for improvement. when capacitive multitouch enabled lcd screens become cheaper, they'l switch to that for sure. no more lag after that

  • Microsoft should rename this to DragLag. Its catchy and straight to the point.

  • hahahahaaa

i know right, it would be fustrating as hell using that thing

  • HAHAHAHA agreeed

  • It lags, and it looks too cluttered. And btw, if you look at other videos of this, you'll notice how many times the person has to turn it the right way up. Now is it just me or would that get really annoying. I'd wait until the surface can be bought OS free, and then put the Linux touchscreen -capable OS that must be on it's way. And it's really cluttered. I'd rather it pushed programs out of the way so that they couldn't be over each other, but only 1 cm overlapping, or completely minimised.

  • No prototype is perfect

  • I suppose that's a fair point, but why would they reveal it if they knew it didn't work that well? anyway. do you really want to pay out again for all the programs you've paid for on your pc so that you can use them on a touchscreen-table? That's why it'd be better as Open Source, because you'd only have to paye for the surface, and not all the specialised programs. I suppose it's alright if you're an overpaid celebrity or footballer.

  • is this a touch screen computer

  • yeeees its laggy! because its a prototype, this can easily be fixed and obviously will not be in the final set!

this isnt something that will really be useful in a home... at all, its more of a trandy bar type thing... what good will it really do in a home? "LOOK MA! I'M DRAWING ON THE SURFACE!" well that pen and paper just cost 10 grand...

obvious it can do other stuff, alot of stuff but do you really wanna be bent over a table browsing the net for hours when u can lay back with a laptop

    Amen

  • This is impressive, no doubt, and there are endless ways this could be utilised in various industries...

but ive got at the back of my mind: is microsoft can do this, imagine what Apple could do! haha

  • They can put alluminum case around it...

  • haha

  • the table is laggy

  • The response is very bad... Ai ai Microsoft...

  • as everything related with microsoft that device seems to be so sluggish...

  • its a prototype

  • are us in the uk gonna be able to buy it? and how much?

  • Looks pretty laggy . Cuz its in beta or something ?

  • yh its a demo....i think that is why its laggy

  • wtf just a touch screen slab and its really laggy aswell

  • make it more common! would love to see it on more tablets

  • copycat

  • hi i am a iphone copy cat

  • nice to meet u

  • im sure its not the final product

  • looks slow

    and ...

I'll like to see the price

  • looks abit laggy

  • pretty impressive for a pc

  • Yup, lol

Although... does it really count as a PC? It has Windows nowhere in the title...

  • i guess it does...because everything Microsoft runs if some form of windows...look at the first xbox that ran off a lowered form of windows 2000

  • I guess so. Like the Apple TV runs a stripped version of OS X Tiger, and so does the iPhone.

  • Comment removed

  • its vista pc

  • At least I think the iPhone runs a stripped down version of Tiger.

  • iPhone runs off a stripped down version of leapard... either way you look at it...macs version of this will kick some ass

  • Yep. I love my MacBook. This'll be like a huge iPhone sort of thing. OMG geekgasm thinking about that xD

  • probably not, its what? $10,000 and in a time like this? HA HA not many people are going to buy it right away.

  • its not coming out any time soon

  • i dont see why?

  • neat!
