  • I can't listen to it without Byron....& i don't.

  • happy birthday dear magician

  • love the Kazoo, Happy Birthday!

  • better then the orginal band

  • Grew up listening toHeep in high school. Many crazy days of smoke filled fun just listening for hours. Still great after all these years

  • @wvbusarider06 Very well put! Many a hazy but great day listening to the Heep back in my high school days in the 70s.

  • Great band! Great song! Amazing, Uriah Heep!

  • Ride on Mick. MY Brother

  • superb mick box e cia

  • I love Byron and the "old days" (my favourite era) but this IS "Heep"! Ruiseart.

  • That singer is great, but still not quite like David Byron. RIP.

  • I saw these guys in 1977 when I was 15, they were great.

  • Simplemente soberbios.

  • I was kind of bummed out when they didn't do this song when I saw them at the Masonic Temple in Spokane, in 1994, with Blue Öyster Cult.

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU... KEN

  • Wow - what a great live rendition of one of the great prog rock tunes of all time.

  • At 4:20 this shit jams the fuck out...

  • Dumbfounded by this Performance....

  • Wicked Gtr TONE!!!!!! Go Mick Boxman

  • love... will find love.... will find love.... will find love

  • Cool cover band...

  • england number one in bands

  • very UNDERRATED GREAT band

  • all time HU fav!!!!! nice version live!!!

  • Wow! that Bernie fellow can hit all the high notes. Really a perfect singer for Heep. I do miss Hensley's vocals though. Not only the main song writer back in the heyday, he was also the other voice of Heep. Is he still able to sing, does anyone know?

  • @wardka If you watch carefully, you can see Ken still adding a few background vocals here and there in this vid. Go check his website: He's still "out there" doing shows and making albums. ken-hensleydotcom.

  • @wardka There's a case to be made that Hensley's songwriting (and insistence on being involved in ALL the songwriting) dragged them away from the successful formula that launched them into stardom (heavy progressive rock with fantasy themed lyrics) to the one that nearly rendered them completely irrelevant in the mid-to-late 70's (heavy focus on pop sensibilities). Personally, I prefer the Heep from 1970-72 over anything from Wonderworld on through until Hensley (thankfully) quit in 1980.

  • Incredible.40 years later that they sound even better. Mick Box was our guitar hero god at 12 East Walnut Street, Harrisburg, IL, USA, 1976. Hurd Brothers Band. Magician's Birthday Indeed!

  • Oh the memories of camping and being in the woods listening to this.................

  • Holy Shit a Les Paul.

  • High quality audio and video, thanks for the upload!

  • The HEEP Lives in Ottawa Canada !

  • One of my favourite guitar solos of all time.. Mick Box still has chops to spare.

And Lee Kerslake.. Surely one of the most underrated drummers of all time.

Not by us Heep fans mind you.. We know how good he is. ;)

  • @retroclipps Any chance I can give at least six thumbs up for retroclipps' comment?

  • David Gilmore is best guitarist of all time. However Mick Box, Jimmy Page, Brain May, Mark Knofler, Al di Meola, Jimi Hendrix and J.J Cale are all equal second in my opinion.

  • im only 28, but i have to say, Heep is one of the best groups ive ever known. Even Purple and Floyd. But this Solopart rocks man!!!! like it! 128 db and open the windows!!!!!

  • WOW : D IS THAT KEN HENSLEY ?!?! What a great gig :D :D

  • @RockNRollFellow I was wondering the same(Ken H?). Pretty darn good rendition of MBD! I'm impressed.

  • @RockNRollFellow It does read Ken Hensley on the second row of comments.

  • Give it up for the "GREAT MICK BOX!!!"

  • 9:40 - 10:00

  • Great live of this song, the Mick Box solo was great!

  • love it all but if not for the drummer?

  • This song is 1st. class all the way...

  • Awesome Band! I've enjoyed them since the 70's.. And will continue to enjoy listening till my time here is up!!

  • John Lawton + Ken Hensley = URIAH HEEP

  • The incredible Mick Box. Please don't forget the equally incredible Lee Kerslake.

  • AMAZING...... Try n FIND this on AMERICAN IDOL !!!!!!! Yea... They Would NOT Know What Hit them.... This WAS , IS . n ONLY ..... QUALITY

  • this is absolutely the best version of this song ;) great vocal duet. the dvd is well-worth buying just for this one alone ;)

  • Many bands have lost the fire in their bellies needed to properly play music they wrote thirty years ago. Not so with Uriah Heep. This is a great rendition of Magician's Birthday. They made time stand still with this one! : )

  • brilliant

  • so so so so so gooooooddddd. I love this band. Get to listen to while high.

  • YES!! HEEP!!

  • MY FAV song!!!! OMG!!!!

  • John Lawton tiene una voz realmente increible, me gustaría haberlo escuchado en alguna grabación de la época. John Lawton- great voice, best singer!!

  • thanks for rocking this world...Well Wikid....

  • listened to this since birth... YES!!!! :D

  • I listen to this album and this song every february 5 'cause is The Magician's Birthday. My Birthday! Maguita means Magician. That song is so special to me and Uriah Heep is one of my favorite bands. Bernie Shaw is GOD. I love him!

  • Happy birthday to you!

  • Very first concert I have ever seen 4$ first band was zz top then earth wind and firse then the heep in springfield mass what a wacky combo I am turning 52 tommorrow jan 3 heep live on

  • Great I like it!!!

  • Surrender now, or face my spike.

  • surrender now and face my spite?

  • I still remember when I bought the record and I talked about it on my birthday party they were disappointed because "easy living" was not on it!

The colors of the album were quite interesting because they seemed to move!

  • You mean they didn't move? Oh man.

  • This moment is awesome and unforgetable. Bernie plays the "Magician" and Lawton appears to play the "Demon". Uriah Heep really really rocks! Hail, from Brazil.

  • впечатляет исполнение 1972 года, эх Байрона бы сюда, жаль...

  • Yes, Box it out! That is how you celebrate a birthday!

  • Is it Ken Hensley that enters and starts to sing at 8:00?

  • I'll check; regardless, the Heep is so good!

  • No no no. It's Mr. John Lawton who sings on Heep's Firefly, Innocent Victim, Fallen Angel and Live in Europe 1979 albums. Ken Hensley is the guy who's playing Telecaster guitar on the right side of the stage and then moves to play Hammond organ.

  • meraviglia

  • i am so glad to hear this song done live allbeit without the originals but no disrespect to this line up...

  • Glorious !!!

  • wow

  • this guys voice is amayzing!! ahhh.

  • That,s a fantastic top of the rock number.

I have to mention that in the good old days, back in the 70'ties with David Byron & Gary Thain it was my daily medicine from morning to night.

They were a real legendary band, no doubt.

    Thanks for sharing this..

  • Those guys are great!

    My admirations!!!

  • Legend...wait for it... dary !!! LEGENDARY !!!

  • Cool man, I can't believe that band especially the singer still got it. :O WOW!!!

  • thanx, bro.. \m/

  • @MrRazboy Don't forget the thumb!

    \m/,

  • @WARLOCK70

This is not original singer David Byron, but I agree..it's still great.

  • @WARLOCK70

That's not David Byron (the original singer) - he died a few years ago.

  • @TheMetalChefOnline Byron died in 1985

  • @TheSuperguitarman59

That's the terrible thing about sarcasm - it doesn't really translate to the written word. ;)

  • That brought back some memories!

    Thanks for sharing.

  • \m/ )

  • Simply beautiful; love the Heep!

  • fuck holy shit
