@easyitsashley There are many breeds that participate in agility: golden retrievers, labradors, poodles, dobermans, dalmatians... I've seen so many. The thing with border collies is, they are so fast and so agile, when it comes to championship competition, no other breed can beat the best borders.

Ugh, I always get jealous seeing this! My aunt lets me use her Standard Poodle to compete in agility, and he is GREAT, but he just isn't FAST enough! I mean, yes he is fast, but Border Collies and Whippets always beat him because they are faster.

@beehappy718 Yup, unfortunately Kelpies still compete in ABC but the KC is thinking about moving the breed out of ABC as they are still working herding dogs and are Very fast! Should contact the KC for ABC classes in your area (A - anything B - but C - collie!!)

dog agility is so amazing!! I really want a Kooiker and be good at this! I only took care of a sweet labrador for 4 years and thought her how to jump. She was amazing!

@SkateBabeNia lucky you!! =] i already have a sheltie named sara and i train her in agility and its sooooooo much fun!! you and your doggie will love doing it together! my doggie really only listens to me cuz i guess we just have a special bond or something. =] but it can get frustrating sometimes. :P but when your out on a course doing it, it sooooo much fun! =]

well, the way i trained my Sheltie is getting her super excited and played with her with her favorite toy, then when she was all riled up, i would run with her to the jump (with the toy) and try to make her jump and if she did i would give her the toy and a cookie. but sometimes she didnt jump so i would put something under the bar and try it again.

I would just like to add that Border collies are not the only dogs that excell in Agility, like alot of people say i have A German Shepherd that takes 1st evertime he enters the course herding dogs in general are better in most cases but some dogs are just very willing to please you and it doesn't matter what breed they are :)
