The world was such a smaller place back then. It blows my mind that many times the panel successfully guessed who the Mystery Guest was by simply figuring out who happened to be in town that particularly week. Times were so much more intimate back then. Now people friggin' tweet and twitter! I wish we had a 'way back machine'........
Mrs. Lindstrom is a character from The Mary Tyler Moore Show named Phyllis. Since that's the case I think you mean to say she is the daughter of Cloris Leachman?
@TheTubePortal Huh? Why would the daughter of a fictional character be on a game show panel? (Ingrid Bergman was once married to a man named Lindstrom.)
@roots66 Oh I thought you meant to say that she was the daughter of Cloris Leachman who played Phyllis Lindstrom on The Mary Tyler Moore Show. I thought it was a fictional name.
She caused an uproar in Australia in the late 1960s, when she wore a mini skirt to Australia's Premier horse race, the Melbourne Cup....the wowsers had a pink fit... She lapped up the publicity..... today it would not raise an eyebrow... How times change..
@pyrofella Well that depends. The modern equivalent of wearing a miniskirt and shocking people would be those who like Madonna, or Lady Gaga go out in revealing costumes. The only difference is that today it's called being immoral and the "decline of society" which was supposedly what people wearing miniskirts would do. It's really funny seeing how ignorant and simple-minded people used to be. The only bad feature is that people today aren't polite anymore like they were in your generation.
Was Pia Linstrom the only movie star's child to become a television journalist/reporter? George Clooney did it the other way around, the son of a television newsman becoming an actor.
This has to be the fall of 1966 since "Privilege" was filled at the time. I must admit, there's only three women from the 60's that I wished I would spend the weekend with and make love along the way: Ursula Andress, Elke Sommer,...and Jean Shrimpton (just like that scene in the just-mentioned "Privilege" where Shrimpton's character Vanessa is in bed with Steven Shorter). Please don't send negative comments to me because I'm expressing my feelings about women.
Shrimpton was not "good looking" in the conventional sense, she was "distinctive". With her large square jaw & bags under her tired looking sad eyes, she had a "look" that, for unknown reasons, became part of the 60s. That's the difference between people then & now...then people were distinctive, now they all look the same...characterless, with their unnaturally white fake teeth, perfect bodies & uninteresting faces...the worst of all being American models of course.
@tupperwararty She had a delicate prettiness and a look that was a part of the 60's because it was a version of the dolly bird (English term) cum sophisticate.
June 1967: Henry Morgan's altercation / disagreement with Daly happened about 2 months before the infamous July 1967 live broadcast altercation / confrontation with Daly over Morgan's rude interruption of Bennett Cerf's introduction of Daly. After that incident, Morgan never again appeared live on WML Sunday night. Lindstrom and Shimpton (don't hate us because we're beautiful) make this a good night for pretty girls, but grouch Morgan and wolf Cerf take it down a couple of notches.
Jean Shrimpton and Verushka were the two true first supermodels. Please tell Janice Dickinson she could never come close.

For her time, before Title IX, she was a savvy businesswoman and refused to be "handled". Most don't know that, but it's true.
