Swiss weapons for the win. I have swiss blood, too bad I don't live there, hey, maybe if I ever go to switzerland I'll get a 552 for free, swiss army knife, and a p228. lol
What is it with this gun and girls? We recently purchased this gun for my wife and she loves it. She could have had anything she wanted and she shot a lot of guns and this was the one. I have to admit, it is a hellava gun.
I recently bought a Canadian version sig p229(106mm barrel). The gun was made in April 2008. I noticed the slide does not have "stainless" mark on it. Does that mean the slide was made of something else? Not sure if Canadian owners have noticed this.
"McCain has received fair to poor ratings on gun issues from the National Rifle Association, garnering a C+.[289] According to a review by Gun Owners of America (GOA), "in 2001, McCain went from being a supporter of anti-gun bills to being a lead sponsor".[290] McCain's GOA rating went from a "C-" in 2000 to an "F-" in 2006.[291]"-so yeah mccain wasnt gonna do good either.
That is interesting. It is usually the reverse for most people. I have found that, with a lot of practice, I can now shoot the DA on this gun about the same as the SA. The SA, on the other hand, I was putting together 2 inch groups on top of the x ring right from day one (these are great guns!). If you are a natural at shooting DA, you would have no problem qualifying on pistol as a cop. Many of them (like our RCMP here in Canada) have to practice hard to master a DAO S&W 5946 or similar.
Its probly because ive shot very little SA guns in my life so im more used to the DA like on glocks and revolvers. I've thought about being a cop after I leave the airforce but idk
slingshotting the slide as opposed to hitting the slide release has to do it wearing down the parts. some people refer to it as the slide stop rather than the slide release and believe that it should be used only to lock the slide back on an empty magazine, although there is indeed a texture to the slide stop that would justify its use as a release lever. the slingshot method is pretty universal though, and works will all guns, whereas the position of the slide release can vary on different guns
The reason for pulling back on the slide is it is almost universal on all semi-auto pistols as a way to release the slide I am an NRA instructor and teach CCW classes and we teach this in case a student ever borrows a friends gun or finds themselves in a fight ( fine motor skills go to hell under stress ) they will use this method and it will always work whether Glock, Sig, Beretta, Ruger, Taurus etc.
I like the "pull back" method myself. I now try to use the same overhand method all the time (not the pinch method my GF is using in this vid). You can see me doing a variety of things on these vids though. I agree with pantherlvr that, under stress, pulling back is much more reliable. Some guns (Beretta 92) have slide stop levers that are easy to manipulate. Others (GLOCK, SIG,) the slide stop is under a lot of pressure when locked open and it isn't that easy to manipulate quickly under stress.
To elaborate further on what Pantherlvr is talking about....in a high stress situation, it's a lot easier to hamfist the slide and give it a rearward jerk than attempting to depress a very small lever with a [most likely] sweat-slick thumb.
This is pretty common training from law enforcement and concealed carry instructors. Fine motor skill and acute muscle memory goes out the window when your adrenaline is pumping.
Just suggestions. We were taught to release the slide overhand and to keep our thumbs straight and away from the slide. While it was awkward at first, it works quite well and the overhand keeps the muzzle pointed toward the target and speeds reloads. If you are just shooting for enjoyment though I don't guess it makes much difference.
No. It's a little tank. We actually have two of these now. The one in this video is the older one. The only thing we've done on them is replace the recoil spring after 5,000 rounds. Probably replace it again this fall. They are great guns. One of the best on the market.
Right know I Have a S&W MP sub compact 9. I like it but i need something with lil more take down power. I went to the store an looked the 40 cal sig and they are little salty but from what eveyone has said they are worth it.
how do you and you girlfriend find the extended barrel. I love that gun but i just can't stand the little nipple. Does it bother you folks?

Looks like an extended barrel for a silencer.

The barrel does not have the threads. Threaded barrels are a tad longer.

I love the double action on this gun, the single action is good too but I feel the double action is more accurate for me

i could never understand why folks pull back the slide to release it...there's a slide release for a reason...
