I am hopping Santa will be dropping this beauty off this year :) - I use both the 737NGX and 747X and -8 by PMDG and with both those aircraft I use FSBuild for loading my flight plans. Can the FSBuild be used to load the flight plan into the MD-11 FMC?
I AM GOING TO MAKE YOU STICK YOUR HAND IN BOILING WATER TO PROVE YOUR INNOCENSE TO SEE IF IT WAS A LIE OR A MISTAKE YOU MADE BECAUSE I NOTICED YOU PUT SOMETHING IN THE VIDEO SAYING THAT YOU LIED.

hey bob, nice tutorial you got there! i jus ordered my copy and its comin in 3 days! just make sure, there is an option to change irs aling time right? i always set mine to less than 30 seconds cause most times i dont have the time to wait ten min
excuse me celeritas5k...i got problem with my pmdg's md 11....the problem is when i load my save flight using this pmdg md 11,all my flight plan already gone and i've to reset my flight plan...do you have an idea how to retrieve it???
excuse me....can any body help me...i already download pmdg md 11 for fsx....until now i couldn't know how to crack it when it reach validation page.....can somebody tell me how to crack it???
I believe so, all you have to do is create and save one, and then load it up in the FMC... Think it'll pull it up if you just type in the same departure and arrival airports on the flight plan page.
Don't have FSX available to figure it out though so can't say for sure!
@jetstorm747 as celeritas5k said. it will load automatically plan if dep and des matches with saved routes. If you fly PMDG product your plan has to be in PMDG directory under flightplans.
Here's what I did. Planned route in FSX, then used plan to route program to export my saved plan.
Hey Bob! I was conxidering some time ago about doing a PMDG guide one day for the MD11 which I so love to fly. But I am glad I didnt. Yours is great. Thank you for your time and efforts! I have one question... I know how to open the plane and then choose the Cold & dark panel. Is there a way to make the plane load automatically cold & dark? Thanks again! Tim
IRS and GPS aren't the same thing. IRS figures out where you are by using a starting point and adding up how long you've been going in whatever direction at whatever speed, GPS does it by talking to satellites.
@celeritas5k IRS = Inertial Reference System. Inertial derives from the word Inertia. It uses a sensor that detects inertia. It can tell any time it changes acceleration in any direction. (ie turning left = Accelerating toward the left, Turbulence = accelerating upwards, downwards, back and forward at random). It was developed in the late 1940's. GPS requires sattelites in orbit. thus anything that happened before Sputnik has nothing to do with GPS.
MAke sure you have either APU power connected or Ground power connected. that damn plane wont start without them. in real life you will always see some wire cord connected to the front landing gear.
I made that route with a program called FSbuild, but the FSX flight planner will work too. You've gotta watch the video for the answer to the second question, and to adjust the range on the nav display there are INCR and DECR buttons on the glareshield (To the left of all the autopilot controls).
And sorry, but I don't think I have time for personal lessons... I spend too much time at work, and have no time for a life as it is! :)
Hi Bob! how do you load the Aircraft "cold and dark" because when start the Simulator and PMDG MD-11 everything is running even the ex lights, i just need to set FMC...please explain from A-Z not half way, please!!
Press the ALT key until the toolbar at the top of the screen displays. Then click on the Add-ons Menu, go to PMDG, then Panel State, then load. Pick the cold and dark option.
Haha you're in luck, I am uploading a second part to this guide right now, takes you up to cruise flight. I'll cover descent and landing eventually...
thanks alot =] one question when i flight normaly without flight plan on fmc the auto thro turn on auto and when i hit autopilot off the auto thro still on.. what should i do?
I believe there's a key command in the PMDG options menu that you can set up for the disengage autothrottle button. Hit it once to turn them off, and once more to shut up the alarms.
Once you're done fueling, try right clicking the button, and then left clicking it. If that doesn't work, type in the amount of fuel you have on board and then hit the button.
If that doesn't work, i'd talk to PMDG tech support.
Good explanation Bob...like it! There are several type of this kind of videos, but those guys forget to show the FMS in a good Closeup, so people can read it. You did it right Bob! Did you see my "humble" MD-11 demo already? I'am shure there are some little errors, because i'am new with this ship,my favourite was/is the Classic 747-200.
Thanks! I had to maximize the FMS to almost fill the entire screen, just for that purpose :)
Your demo is incredibly well done! I've been meaning to do a complete guide rather than simply the FMS, seems like you've got that pretty well covered! And I have to say your setup makes me drool a little...
Thank's again Bob..! But do not dis-animate,just go for the "complete guide"...
You must know that i did all the screen shot by the "old fashion way"... i just "filmed" the monitor screens...(!) Ofcourse i know about some good software like "Camtasia" and others that give you real nice and sharp pictures, but then i notice i lost 50% of my frame rates...
Bob...i try to send you a real short flight within a real KLM MD-11 cockpit. About my setup? All 2'nd hand 30 bucks 22"monitors :)
FMS stands for Flight Management System, and FMC stands for Flight Management Computer... they're pretty interchangeable. It's actually pretty rare for FSX aircraft to have an FMS, you usually only find them on the higher end payware airliners and such.
The purpose of the FMS or FMC is for navigation, and in real life they are very important, but in the FS world they make a aircraft more realistic, and enjoyable thats about it.
great Video!!! ...but... the Tutor manual from Pmdg says- add the STAR ever to the last Fix, and not to the destination?.... any clues why this should be performed? Thnx- a MD11 Pilot ;)
I've always done it by using the destination, but if using the last fix works then I don't see any problem with it. It doesn't really matter which one you use, as long as you get the right flight plan in the end.
I am hopping Santa will be dropping this beauty off this year :) - I use both the 737NGX and 747X and -8 by PMDG and with both those aircraft I use FSBuild for loading my flight plans. Can the FSBuild be used to load the flight plan into the MD-11 FMC?

Do I have to down load a file and replace origial config file or simply change the setting?

In the menu bar at the top go to addons -> PMDG -> and under the 'panel state' category select load. There should be a cold and dark option there.
