  • You Did Well Lads . Very Enjoyable ..

  • I liked the story idea but needs a stronger plot

  • This is the guy from ivanhoe... aclestain (or howerver you spell it)

  • This is why Normans suck..

  • Good stuff people, good stuff. not enough attention is paid to this and preceding areas of British history. Well done.

  • At least he died in the bosom of a fair maiden. Good video!

  • @NordicThunder24 Even if it was his sister lol.

  • @ephabouyed aHAHaha Well it is England so it's kool. By the way I am half Engligh/Norman. HAAHA

  • @NordicThunder24 Hahahaha well I guess your right, well I'm Irish-Norman myself so I know the feeling. Lol

  • @ephabouyed Brilliant!! Cheers brother!! ahha

  • the normans and saxons came from the same areas anyway. Scandinavia and north germany - harold was danish! william the conquerer was rollo the viking's grandson.

  • @ThomasRowsell they are all germanic same blood same Subrace

  • I hope you don't mind but I decided to do a page for this film on wikipedia as more people should know about it. I hope you like it and fingers crossed it'll be up soon.

  • First off.. Fantastic short movie!.. I felt it was very well produced.. The start sucked me in straight away, and i couldn't wait to see more. The acting, for what i gather was amateur actors, was very good. The music was very eary, and fitting and gave me shivers :p And the end scene, with the speach before the fight sent chills down my spine, lol, and i swear i could hear faint church bells :p The end fight scene was amasing, it filled me with pride, and the very end filled me with tears. :D

  • Good job well done, imagine what you could do with a large budget. :-)

  • awsome film man really amazing. where abouts is it set?

  • Great short film really enjoyed it.........As an Anglo Norman reenactor my only comment would be the look and authenticity of the Norman soldiers costumes and armour, otherwise a lovely piece of film making

  • cool man i love it i want to make some movies with you

    greetings from Texas

  • Well well, I really like your effort. :D It's great to see short films that aim for both historical acuracy and a nice storyline. The swordfighting might be a little cheesy, but the same goes for about every historical movie I've seen so far. :p I liked this, better than most big budget films, to be honest!

  • i found the acting quite bad...

  • @NatashaClouds you try to act as good as them then

  • @joezzzify well, k they are not that bad!

  • It was great!!!

  • Are the Saxons from the group "The Poor Cnights of St.Chad"? I recognise the device on their shields.

  • Great! Just simply great!!!

Will have to recommend ist to my friends!

  • This was a very good short film i liked it. Sets were good, clothes and weapons were great as well and i liked the short story.

I wish to make something like this with a few friends in a forest called delemere forest in cheshire. I was just wondering did you need special permission in order to make this? did you have to contact the police to see if it was legal?

  • Great movie, very glad I came across this one.

  • my family has saxon royalty in it :P

  • Considering the minimal budget, wonderful job. Great short movie - I must ask...have you ever read "The Last English King" by Julian Rathbone? Imagine if you picked that story, wrote the screenplay and pitched it to Hollywood.

  • It must have been good to be a norman then, the world was your oyster, kill who you want ,take what you want. A good little flick this.

  • A victory but at what cost? Very sad & so true to this day! I believe its happening again! our English/Saxon identity is STILL under attack! Join the English Shieldwall Group on FaceBook is u want England to STAY English!!! Waes Hael.

  • both were germanic anyway

  • normands were descended from vikings

  • awesome

  • Not sure about that dodgy sword fight at the end without shields, but otherwise for re enactors really well done other combat looks great. its hard getting combat to look good without big budgets and special effects. Nice one.

  • I'm proud to be an Anglo-Saxon.

  • yea but mostly you can be 60% anglo saxon dont forget the other vikgings invaders and the name the world knows you britains

  • @idealkoci we are celtic anglosaxons and vikings my mum from yorkshire jorvik

  • I had a little trouble reading the text, but otherwise I'm very impressed! Good job!

  • That is a fantastic short movie. I enjoyed the story and found the background sound score wonderful - it added a sense of eeriness to what was going on or going to happen. I will add it to my favourites list for future viewing, Thank you.

  • I actually really enjoyed this, dont get me wrong I had my doubts but it shows you cant assume eh?! really good :) :) i'm a reenactor..would have loved to be in this haha

  • Great stuff!

Still wish we had won though lol. Too much Englisc heritage was lost as a result of haistings.

  • old english comes from older form of german also sense saxons originally come from germany

  • the continental Saxons and their culture survived. I am one of them, the dialect I speak with my family dialect is somewhat close to old English...

  • @Assuranipal Is it Frisian by any chance?

  • @Assuranipal

Old English or in other words, Germanic...

  • @Assuranipal yorkshire accent is Norse

  • look, you stupid bastard, you've got no arms left!

  • bravo! very good film! make more!

  • the music beginning at 10:01 really seems to go well with the tragedy surrounding 1066... was it composed especially for the film? again, great short film!

  • Thanks for watching!

Yes,the music was composed especially for the film by myself.

  • Nice film

    very good

    I like it !

    pls make more

  • Zero budget and shot in 3 hrs... good stuff!

  • This was good but could of been more historically accurate. Athelstan was the Kingh who united England and not around during the time of Hastings lol

  • Æþelstán and other well known Old English names were in fact quite common. In fact, to positively identify someone back then, you would have to give some of their lineage. This often led to patronyms being used (as was common in Scandinavia), cf. Harold Godwinson. There were no surnames as we have them today.

  • And the woman smiles too much

  • The fighting ows little to realism.

  • We mighty few, are still here!

  • i loved this is thier any way i could get involved with this type of thing

  • @pjmclemon123 look up the vikings! or jomsvikings or regia anglorum

  • Very impressed especially considering the retraints involved with the production, should be more films like this.

  • This was great stuff, really liked it, the acting was good as well, and the sword fights looked pretty good to me.

  • Much appreciated!

The whole team did their best!

  • I'm sure there were Anglo-Saxon Thanes and Lords after 1066.If they sided with the new Norman rulers they got to keep their land.

  • Nice work!

  • I'm glad you can laugh at the sword fighting of untrained actors shot on zero budget with less than 3 hours to film on-location :)

  • i laughed at the sword fighting, sorry guys it just looked lazy, otherwise good video.

  • i have to make 1 last comment lol =)

where are you guys from? england?

  • We are indeed!

    The West Midlands.

  • very nice vid lovin it

  • I do look scary when im swinging weapons it has to be said :o)

  • Best short film i've seen on YouTube.

  • He he, 4.05 that's me trying to focus without my glasses! Those Norman gits ripped my brand new dress that i'd been up all night finishing off!

  • He, I loved it :D

  • Nice work!
