I keep getting the hissssing sound and it I really need to reduce the noise. I use premiere pro and since I am in places where it is super hot, I can't turn off the fans unless we want to melt like a bunch of ice cubes!!!!!!!!! Any advice. Please respond.

Another thing you have to control with ambient sound is people using doors in your location.  Especially if you have one of those crappy alarm systems that beeps every time you open an exterior door.

@FerrrisWheelPro I have the same set up, in audacity, which you can get for free, there is a plugin where you can select a noise and it erases it from your video, including an annoying room tone. there are plenty of tutorials on how to do this in audacity on youtube, hope this helps!

PS. I also use a ProEL micromixer which is a portable battery powered, high quality 5 channel mixer - very useful for recording separate channels without being tied down. May not be available anymore...

Simply feed one signal from a mic into one channel and another mic into another channel and it will output L and R for later editing. Much cleaner than using a single mic. Cheap too.

I just wish there were more good options for multi-channel recording. *sigh*

@gbriker I'm not that big of a fan. It defeats the purpose of a shotgun mic for me. IMO. But just like all the mics, they have their uses.
