wow i just now discovered the meaning of this logo...it symbolizes the two companies (Lorimar, and Telepictures) "crashing" together when they merged :D
as we all know this was LTs last season working together (pretty much what vzeu019j said lol) and after that they used the almost silent white marble background that gave u an uneasy feeling sometimes.
Yeah, for Lorimar Television with the marble background, it kind of does give a somewhat uneasy feeling, by the way the jingle comes out. What could be even more scary is the warped/sped-up version that came out circa 1991 on a few shows until 1993.
Lorimar-Telepictures surprisingly owned an then-independent station in Puerto Rico between 1986 and 1988(WLII San Juan, Ponce, Puerto Rico). As a struggling TV station before 1981(due to the fact it went off the air, and went silent), Lorimar-Telepictures bought WLII in December of 1985(WLII is the current name since 1986), renaming it "TELE-ONCE", and the parent company surprisingly dubbed American sitcoms into spanish! The channel is now a Univision(spanish-languaged channel)affiliate....
If someone has the Love Connection end credits from the 87 season the has the Lorimar Telepictures extended theme fade to black please upload it on here that would be very good.
Yes, the first season(and the FIRST SEASON, ONLY) of "Full House" had this logo, between the 1987-88 season. That was LT's last season working together as a company, as we know.
"Family Matters" began in 1989(specifically September 22, 1989)on ABC, so they never had this logo, as Lorimar's name was then "Lorimar Television".
Lorimar-Telepictures was "separated" in 1988, as Lorimar was then "Lorimar Teleivison"(until September 1993), and Telepictures was then known as it's current name-Telepictures Productions.
Only the first season of "Full House" had this logo, maseram1234. From there(1988 until 1993), it was produced by Lorimar Television, and then from 1993 to 1995(when the show went off the air), "Full House" was then produced by Warner Bros. Television.
Brilliant Design And Graphics!! A Fat 6!! The LORIMAR-Telepictures logo was used in shows like "Dallas," "Falcon Crest," "Knots Landing," and "Perfect Strangers" for the 1986-1987 Television Season.
You are definitely right. I overlooked that show -- too. I do agree with that comment; moreover, they did use it for "It's A Living" and "Our House" during the 1986-1987Season. I still rated the logo a fat 6!!
That music appeared in my dream one fateful night! After this thunderstorm. Presented cleanly by Lorimar production, I thank YOU!!! I dedicate this video to the darkest recess of my beautiful and musical mind!
"The Hogan Family" (when it was titled "Valerie" March 1986-87 and "Valerie's Family fromm 1987-88) also originally had the Lorimar-Telepicutres logo, but it was used in a F-Flat sound on that show.
I remember this music, only with the Lorimar Logo against the White backdrop after the ending of Dallas!!!! It was also immortalized in my dream when used to live at either Concord or when I used to live in my old house in Gabarda!
They also Co-produced the reruns of Mama's Family, Elimidate, and also produced that stupid Ellen DeGeneres Show. I really miss the Lorimar Logo. By the way, Lorimar was established in 1969, not 1971. Their first presentation wa sproduced in '71, though.
This kind of thing became classic for a lot of us and as necessary as the program it was previous to. For example, 2 weeks ago i ´ve purchased all the Thundercats seasons on dvd and it was disappointing not to find this logo at the beginning. Thanks for show it here. Nice memorabilia.
(Classic) Disney Channel; The Easter Bunny Is Coming To Town, The First Easter Rabbit, The Stingiest Man In Town, Rudolph's Shiny New Year, The Year Without A Santa Claus (when they had uncut Rankin-Bass, not like today's ABC Family Channel).
The TV production company Lorimar debuted from 1968 until 1993, and then, it became Warner Bros. Television. Lorimar teamed up with Telepictures in 1986. However, it will be "TBS/Warner Bros. Television" in '08.
Please pay no attention to the comment above. That comment is not my own. My brother happened to post that comment while I was logged on. He (nor do I for that matter) has no proof whatsoever that the so-called "TBS/Warner Bros. Television" meger would ever take place and is merely a fantasy of his. My apologies to anyone that may have been lead on by this blurb.
I remember seeing this logo during the first two seasons of Perfect Strangers. I haven't seen the full version of this logo in ages (withe the three chimes at the end)
presumably a bit before fall of 1993, b/c most shows (Family Matters, Full House, Step by Step, Hangin' w/ Mr. Cooper, etc.) that were produced by Lorimar before or prior to the fall of '93 would have been produced by Warner Bros. from that point on.
If Lorimar was still around, they would of produced The Flash and Lois and Clark-The New Adventures of Superman (Acourding to a book on DC Comics, Lorimar was gonna make the show, but it wa shut down so WB can do it, because Warner not only owned Lorimar, but DC Comics as well.)
Actually the long version of this logo's music was heard on "Dallas" during the 1986-87 season, as after the three chimes were heard, there was still some more music to play, and then the logo faded out.
and it was also used on "Dallas's" spin-off show "Knot's Landing" as well, except in the case of that show, the L-T logo followed after the Roundelay-MF Productions logo.
also from freddy's nightmares i remember seeing this logo too.
