I just about shit myself when he provided the CD example. I've never seen concrete examples of "structuralism" elucidated with reference to actual objects.
Are you sure about that? The painting features the Old and the New Testament, in one gathering of the important people in those different periods. Jesus on the left and Moses on the right... Socrates is bald, didn't you see his busts and paintings showing him dying because of the hemlock that he drunk as punishment for his 'crime'? Now, let's get back to the lecture. Thank you.

He has a real "above and below" thing going on with those spatial metaphors. Pretty straightforward, decent lecture though.

Now, since he is professor of a baptist university and there's a painting of Jesus in the background, should you be aware of Christian propaganda?
Sincere question...he seems quite straight forward
anne0k 11 months ago
@anne0k thats an extract of raphael's "school of athens", not jesus.
but even though hes teaching at a baptist university, i think this lecture was pretty good and that its free of a religious agenda.

@masterhans
I know! i just found out a week ago, also. (oops). The arch is quite reminiscent of a halo on this side of the screen, though.
anne0k 9 months ago
@anne0k but youre right, in the first moment i also thought its depicting jesus haha
