  • I wonder how the recoil of this compares to a walther ppq in 40 S&W, Ive heard the 40 ppq actually doesnt have worse recoil than the 9mm ppq, and is far better than a S&W M&P 40

  • I love your shot accuracy man. Very impressive. Tired of watching gun reviews with dudes hitting the ground all the time

  • I just had to go get one! I love this pistol, very accurate compared to other 40's I've shot. Now I have another compact to switch for CCW. I own a M&P9c, Detonics Combat Master and the SR40c and this is the one I can shoot more accurately!

  • @Oso781 nice bro glad you copped this gun... how is the recoil in the compact version?

  • Your videos are both informative and funny...keep 'em comin. Also, I'm interested in seeing what you think about the Ruger P345. Any way you can do a video on it?

  • Picked mine up yesterday in the bi-tone and it is amazing... money well spent!

  • Yea I'm in the same market. SR40c VS. GLOCK27

  • i just recently purchased the SR40c. I am a new centerfire shooter but i am not having any isues with it being to snappy even with my skinny wrist. it is a very comfortable to shoot and i plan on carring it.

  • I am looking to buy either the SR9 or SR40, it would be my first gun, but I have shooting experience already. Which of these two is overall the better choice? I am looking for home defense but also to go to the range every once in a while

  • @bumsdeclaf It's round preference. The .40 cost a bit more for ammo but not to much. It's depends on what you would rather shoot or wich you can shoot better. The round it fires doesn't mean anything if you can't hit what your shooting at were you need to hit it.

  • @bumsdeclaf if ur looking for home defense get the SR9 less likely to kill your neighbors, get FMJ for the range and HP's for home defense.....I just picked up my SR9 2 days ago, yet to shoot it...but am just drooling too..

  • Now that they have the SR40c & SR9c is it possible to get an aftermarket barrel to convert the SR40c into shooting 357sig in the SR40c frame. Similar your video on the Glock 32 .357 Sig

  • I just bought one of these and i freakin love it. It does recoil a fair amount (no more then a G27 if not a little less seeing as it weighs a little more) but in my opinion that adds to the Challenge.

  • just watched this vid last night..shot it today and i'm gonna get one for sure!!!

  • Great video! Your follow up shots with a 40 are impressive!

  • Where's Jed Clampett and Elle Mae? I bet they''re good shot too.

  • @BullyChicken, Don't know, but if you see Elly May, please send her MY way. She's a cutie! :-)

  • I had the same problem with the gun being hard to rack. I had watched alot of videos before i got my 40c.And it was also hard to find one, man your a great shot dude. Where was your hand placement? P.S. I love my sr its a great gun best ive shot so far Ruger is great!!

  • I live in Tennessee also. Is your range private or public?

  • @TheLTDANTN His range is probably private. It is on his property.

  • @TheLTDANTN Refer to FAQ 18. He talks about said subject in that video.

  • what exactly is a t&e gun?

  • @shaveddave t&e means testing and evaluation. For marketing purposes, Ruger either lent, gave, or sold him that gun so he could review it for them on his show. It is identical in every way to all other stock SR40c pistols.

  • @Hylanvahr thanks man. iv heard it used before but couldnt figure it out lol. you have a good one

  • Great vid! Question- how far away was that large gong and were you aiming dead on or holding over for bullet drop?

  • BE CAREFUL WITH THAT GUN you will do your back in

  • Sr40c vs glock 27 please :-)

  • hickock,... Y R UR VIDEOS SO INTERESTING?!

  • Comment removed

  • Very good shooting with a new gun to you. A very pleasant gun to hold with its grip.

  • whats "a T & E gun"?

  • @shaveddave A Test and Evaluation firearm.

  • Im going to buy one next week...thanks!

  • Could the reason the first round didn't want to load in the chamber at 7:09 be related to the fact that you didn't raise the extractor after putting the slide back on? (Or maybe you did and I didn't see it.)

  • Can you consider this ruger a good carry pistol???

  • AHhahahahahahAHa i i was wondering why the fuck was he pointing at the sky... and then i realized that he was trying to point at the title of the video... Lmao, u missed this one hickock XD

    haha awesome vids bro

  • @ZzRvXzZ A little to the left, no your other left! lol Love ya hickok

  • what is that speed loader your using?

  • You seem to be enjoying it a lot Mr hickok45. I envy you!

  • I know your a Glock guy but I'd love to see a comparison with sr40c and glock 27

  • @joshmorales80, We might do that. I own both.

  • @hickok45 have you seen the Glock 1911? It looks amazing.

  • @hickok45 just like @joshmorales80, I've been really in a toss up between a a 27 and sr40c. Salesmen at my local gun store are pushing the Glock due to availability of accessories. They say I may be limited, accessory wise, with the sr40c. Thoughts Mr. hickok?

  • Love your vids!

  • Very good and informative video as always from mr hickock45 will definitely be adding a SR40c to the collection

  • If there's ever a zombie invasion, I'm coming to stay with you.

  • what kickok45 using a speed loader!!!!

  • great vid as always, I have seen almost all of your videos along with many other.

The one thing I've noted with all of your videos is I have never seen you point any firearm in any other direction but downrange, great example of safe gun handling great job

  • "aggghhhhh...poor mr. turkey" hahahaha

  • So what? Doesnt mean the ruger isnt reliable aswell because he wouldnt throw it on the cement or whatever. I own an sr9c and have put about 500 rounds through it with no issues whatsoever, I trust it with my life. Ruger was in support of blah blah blah. People need to get what feels better to them and glocks dont feel right to every single person while the sr9c will, so thats what they should go with, not by some other dumb crap.

  • I visited my dealer...he throws a glock on the cement floor and said "I wouldn't do that to any other gun". What do you say is better? Glock is the "AK" of the pistol world... (most reliable and simple) For the 100.00 more, I'd go with the Glock. p.s. Ruger was in support of the original ban on magazines that held more than 10 rounds. F Ruger.

  • Great review. What kind of magazine loader is that? Did it come with the Ruger? It looks way more fancy than any that have come with my guns!

  • Very good review. Very informative.

  • Impressive shooting!

  • overall which one would you choose for concealed carry... SR40c or Glock 27??

  • * used glock 27

  • @landon4wake get the one that feels best in your hands. both are great. just because the glock has a longer track record, people think its better. dont fall for the brand obsession that most people do. I own a S&W, a glock, and a springfield. all of them are great, just depends on what feels best for you.

  • nice video. Nice shooting.

  • 79testo: "better" pretty much comes down to personal preference. For example the Ruger has manual and mag safetys which you may or may not prefer.

  • I'm really looking at the SR40C or the SR9C right now. I keep hearing the "Get a .40" from my friends. When I ask them why, all they can say is "stopping power". From my reading there really isn't much of a difference anymore with modern day ammo. I think I'm leaning toward this one thanks to this video.

  • @cgjohnst45 just bought one yesterday put 200 rounds through it. Love the sr40c very comfortable in your hand and has a nice like snap to it.

  • NICE SHOOTING Hickok.....I have been looking at the SR40c....as you might know I have the SR9....GREAT VID

  • Is the SR 40 C less powerful than a 9mm?

    what's a better handgun a Glock or an SR40 C?

  • @79Testo a 40 is more powerful than a 9mm. And I think most people would say Glock is better.

  • Out of curiosity hickok did you ever compete in competitions? The way you shoot I sure can imagine that you would have. If not that, I think I recall you saying that you're a retired LEO?

  • 52abigail

I own a xd40 SC bitone and love it. Hickock45 has a video on it. Check it out. I'm liking this ruger tho for home defense. My SC stays with me

  • I love that you still get a kick out of shooting. It's a pleasure to watch you laugh your way across you range.

I'm sold on the Ruger SR line. I was (and kind of still am) a Glock man. My first pistol was a Glock, and I still like them a lot. I have to say though that I like my SR40 better than any other gun I have owned.

  • great

  • damn hes good thats pretty far to hit with a handgun

  • 1. good overview of this inexpensive but well made carry pistol

    2. you are an excellent shot...must be easy to qual @200 for you, you must be a DPE ( distinguised pistol expert), fast target aquistioning and follow up shots.

    3. you have a great range set up, must be nice to live in a pro-gun state.

  • I own an SR9C and I LOVE the Rigger pull. considering the 40C. Wondering though if you would rate the trigger of the 9C 1 being the worst and 10 being the best, and then rate the 40C on the same scale. I would appreciate this as that is one of my biggest concerns with the 40c's trigger not being as nice as my 9c.

  • this guy is hilarious. great video.

  • thumbs up for hickok for the next top shot!

  • @leftyaa12 He is overqualified for that!!!!

  • Really, i'll never wanna stay in front of Hickok45 while firing! GO GUNS!

  • @halaveri lol you wouldnt want to stand in front of anyone who is firing a gun!

  • Hickok, you do not know how to read the caliper do you

  • I bought an SR9 a few years ago really liked it, I wish they had the SR40 back then. Right now I'm looking for a 40 compact for concealed carry. I'm stuck between a SR40c and a S&W M&P40c. Anyone have any suggestions?

  • @NolanMGI I shot the M&P40c and i currently have the SR9c. I would go with the SR40c if I was you.

  • @NolanMGI go with the sr40 you already know what u have with the sr9 its just the 40 has more power i saw one at a gun show today in georgia and i love it!!!! SR40c is the way to go!!

  • i was wondering when they was gonna come out with a 40 cal. But i live in California.. i wonder if it is on the roster list

  • IF you pause at 2 seconds

  • Caliber means shit if you don't practice. Buy a shotgun if you can't practice. Put a 9mm on the hands of this man and the Burglar wont have a chance to respond.

If you familiarize yourself with your gun.....a 9mm is just fine. Hell, my Beretta .380 ACP feels the best for me and I practice with it the most.

  • I find I shoot the Glock 22 better than the Glock 17. Both are gen 4 pistols. Why? I don't know.

  • you are the shit buddy haha..."well excuse me" that cracked me up lol

  • If a thug gets hit in the chest with a 9mm instead of a .40 will he know the difference? I would hate for him to laugh afterwards and tell me I should have brought a .40

  • @jigsaw183 His words will be this: "Lol it's k, only 9mm!"

But in all seriousness, there's not much of a difference and 9mm is fine.

  • That is a sweet little gun, I may have to go pick one up. Great review!

  • I'm getting the new Ruger SR1911 but man, Ruger makes so many nice guns it's almost hard to choose!

  • I think this is like fps russia in about 30 years....

  • Hickok, your pointing in the beginning of the video doesn't work when I watch videos in fullscreen :D

  • Looks like master chief's hand gun

  • @DiscipleISAwesome LOL, as a HALO gamer myself I think Master Cheif's hand gun would kinda be more like those older Ruger P-series .45's (P90 or the P97). When I 1st played a HALO game, I thought the same thing but more towards my Ruger p97 with the SS...lol.

  • Am I right in assuming that the little hiccup in chambering is not uncommon w/ new pistols? I'm seeing the same tendency, if I don't rack w/ authority, in my new Taurus, TCP PT738.

Enjoyed this video. I've been thinking of a 40 for the future, compact or sub compact.

    Thanks.

  • i want ago but we can not have fire.arms in the uk

  • yup i had some time with this pistol...IT AINT NO GLOCK,,but its no sr9 either

  • your compound is a true shooters paradise. When i die i went to end up there,:)

  • Despite the record heat, this is the most fun I've ever seen you have shooting a gun. Thanks for helping me to decide. I'm getting an SR40c.

  • How many firearms do you own?

  • I should have kept my SR9, but knowing it's not a limited production gun, I wasn't too worried when I sold it to a friend. I was glad to see the SR9c, so I'll work on purchasing another SR9 and an SR9c, and now with this SR40c coming out, I think I may need one of these too so I have another platform to shoot .40 S&W, the only one I have now is my S&W M&P40, which is a great gun also.

Thanks to yourself and your son for taking the time to make the video and to Ruger for sending a sample gun.

  • How many pounds of lead do you suppose are embedded in that hillside?

  • @grandprixkid3800 not much, most of the rounds will disintegrate upon hitting to hill.

  • @startwarskidfan2 actually all the lead will land on the hillside...minus what sticks to the targets. just physics really

  • @grandprixkid3800 Embedded? Probably not a whole lot; hickok doesn't seem to miss his targets very much.

  • Hey Hickock, love the video. I have watched pretty much all your videos, and I find that your style really sheds light on the differences of the weapons that you are comparing....good job. Anyways...I was wondering when Ruger was gonna come out with the SR40C. I bought a SR9C about 2 months ago, and I love it. Watched your video on it and gave it a try, and im glad i did. Great concealed carry gun. Keep up the good work :)

  • Stock adjustable sights are great, I might try this one out as an actual purchase for myself, friend a couple states over just got one.

  • help us fight our corrupt red heda prime mininster

  • WE NEED GUNS IN AUSTRALIS HELP US

  • slow motion rules!!!

  • Ever thought about demonstrating some suppressors?

  • Comment removed

  • Okay, now looked liked a lot of fun. Great Video! Your range looks good and the tree is so cool. Seems like a pretty good gun for you sure were having a good time with it. Since you are shooting a Ruger...can we see more of the Ruger SR1911?

  • Hickok you can easily remove the mag safe device that will destroy the striker on your SR9c if you continue to dry fire without an empty mag. I know the SR40c is a T&E gun but if you like your SR9c...take out eh mag safe...it's easy...and then you can dry fire all day long...

  • @VideoJames11 I know you were asking HIckock, so I'm sorry if I am butting in. I carried a Springfield XD sub-compact that was reliable, accurate, and had a grip safety which I loved. I've since traded it in for a Kimber Ultra model (Raptor). If you've got the cash, take a look at the kimber ultra models (3" barrels). Nothing like a 1911 on the hip!

  • This is a random question, and it really doesn't matter, but what do you put in those bottles? Love your vids btw.

  • Great review as always! How far is the ledge where you put the 2 liter soda bottles? How far is the big gong at the far end? How far are the rows of animals? Thanks again!

  • Great Video! Ruger always takes a lick'n from the "eurosnobs", but Ruger makes really great pistols. I'm using a P89 for 24 years and it is still sweet! After watching this video, I'm going to grab SR40c to run with my G23.

  • that's a pretty good camera, you can see the bullets travel in the zooms and slow motion

  • I'll bet you can never get all of the GSR off your hands. My suggestion is to stay out of the suspect pool, LOL. Great video.

  • the gong has a distinctive sound

  • Nice vid as usual Hickok. I am glad Ruger came out with a 40 cal of this model. Thanks for showing it to us.

  • Leave the safety off, if you don't like it....I own an SR9c and it has served me well. I've put well over 2,000 rounds through it without a single malfunction. The gun will flat out shoot. I can't speak for the .40, but if it's anything like the 9mm it's an excellent firearm.

  • @carrygunns

    No need to be defensive.

  • It took me awhile to understand why Hickok was looking at the sky lol

  • i love the .40 s&w ever since i got my m&p

  • How's the trigger compared to the 5.5 lb glock trigger? Great shooting like always. You must be Left eye dominant like me?

  • To be honest... I really hate the appearance of these new ruger, M&P, and XM, etc. type guns. With their gigantic loaded chamber indicator, warnings stamped into them all over the place, and huge orange blob to show that the safety is off, etc. I think of them as lawyer guns... designed by our stupid legal system and for people who won't take the time to train properly to carry a gun. Sorry to be so negative, and I know they do have their place, but damn they're ugly.

  • @PowerForGood i like how the ruger looks, but i know what you mean about all these safeties. they cause the gun to be pretty useless in a real situation and frankly if i got the sr40c id probably never have the safety on.

  • @PowerForGood Agreed LOL

  • Hmm Ive been thinking about a handgun purchase and this might just be what Ive been looking for; .40sw, high cap mags available, compact, good lookin... I think this fits what I want. plus, I'm a bit of a Ruger fan.

  • Love the vids Hickok, I have to admit that i hate the loaded chamber indicator and the mag disconnect safety. Good, reliable and accurate guns. I was going to buy the 9 about a year ago but couldn't get past the two safeties i mentioned and the plastic guide rod, plastic thingy in the back that pops out when its loaded. It just felt cheap and full of plastic. I ended up getting the M&P 9c. What a difference in matierals used. Just my mileage. Keep it up HIckok. Love the vids

  • I think I rather shooting a gun than having sex with a hot lady.

  • @WeWantGoodCovers

don't take it too far there buddy

  • @dumapies hahahaha

  • My first gun was a Glock, so I can't stand safety's. The ideal of draw and fire comforts me. I don't think I would like it if someone bum rushed me with lets say a knife and I had to draw click the safety then fire. So I think im gonna Rock out, wit my Glock out, till I clock out..lol GREAT VIDEO BTW MR.HICKOK45

  • if you listen closely you can hear that you are walking on rocks and shells you should make a video of all the shells you can find on the ground and shoot each weapon once to show which ones you have shot before well hope to see the video and by the way love the videos trying my hardest to get a handgun myself well hope to hear from ya

  • That's a belligerent, little pig!

  • hahahahah.... Im actually really jealous... i think thats the first smaller frame pistol i like

  • Comment removed

  • I love the super slow-motion at the end. Good shooting, Hickok, as always.

  • I see you are making good use of your new magazine loader :)

  • Excellent shirt, sir. I really dug that. Thanks for doing this video. I saw the 40c coming ever since the sr40 came out. I'm glad they incorporated the same the same light trigger. IMO that's the biggest selling point on the sr9c.

  • what does t&e mean?

  • @mikethenascarfan Test & Evaluation, I think

  • @dsgr2003 sounds close enough, thanks

  • Hickok could the SR40 ever be adopted for law enforcement? Or are there to many safety features...

  • ruger desined the sr series so u take the mag dc out by urself

  • Nice Video. Hickok45 have you done a review on a Kahr PM40?

    God Bless

  • Super slowmo!

  • I like the cicadas in the background. Those suckers are NOISY!

  • Man, I don't remember the last gun you shot that well. It seemed like you hit just about everything.

  • u think this ruger would last a while with out breakin down?

  • Another great video - thank you for posting!

  • what kind of loader was that? I never use them but that looks like it works great!

  • its very easy to take the mag disconnect out. its the same as the full sized SR9. humansfortargets has a how-to video on it.

great gun! just needs a few hundred rounds through it before it gets broken in and shows its full potential.

    another great video

  • clever hickok...clever

  • Nice guns,,,,,....

  • What is the distance of your range? Like over to the gong...

  • I want to see you shoot a mare's leg. That is hard to shoot accurately as you can't really shoot it as a rifle and it is awkard as a pistol . I know I can learn something from watching you shoot one. Nice Video. Not too happy with all the "safety" features of the SR series. Other than that, I think they are good guns.

  • Could you do a review on the Ruger Mark III if you haven't already? Or if a .22 isn't manly enough for you, could you do a review of the bolt action Ruger M77?

  • I really like that loader is it a universal loader or did it come with the Ruger??

  • Nice shooting thanks 4 the video.

  • Hey hickok45 of you were new to america, what state would you move too? what state is the most gun friendly?

  • Perhaps it is a German thing with getting the first round chambered. The HK-91 is the same way. If you don't allow the first round to slam into the chamber, the firing pin will not hit the primer with enough force to fire the round.

  • I always watch your videos in full screen so in the beginning when you pointed up, you were pointing at my car show trophies. Lol.

  • Is it me or on every gun review he says, "Feels pretty good!" haha .. great stuff Hickok

  • seems to pack a punch, what ammo were you using :) ??

  • Just a warning, the Ruger manual warns against repeated dry-firing of these pistols without an EMPTY magazine inserted. When the magazine is not inserted, the striker is still able to move forward with the full force of the striker spring. The magazine disconnect stops the forward movement of striker, preventing a discharge when the magazine is removed. Repeated dry-firing with the magazine removed could eventually damage the striker, the magazine disconnect, or both.

  • @jmvaras1972, Yeah, that creates a real inconvenience for me. I do it anyway.
